Ikki has faded from his family's memories. He seeks a normal life on his own, only to be confronted by a corrupted Vice.

I know how this'll end so why am I crying...?

Well, after all, the end of this story will happen in the final episode. And I was already preparing for a big review about the whole show. Returning to this episode: everything is predictable, but with little cute life details and smart moves that give everything weight and life. Still, it seems to me that they overdid it a little with the final problem. Also, I don't really like that Ikki spent a year learning not to be embarrassed to be an egoist, so that in the end he didn't even have the right to choose in the final. After all, it's not that Ikki has to choose between Vice and the rest of the family - everything is decided for him. For the same reasons, I don't like that other characters are involved in deception. I think it would be better if Vice made everyone believe that he was an evil, insidious demon who waited until the very end.

Why did this episode go above and beyond in making Ikki and Vice look like a married couple????
For real though, seeing them adjust to their life as housemates, eating dinner, and Vice sending off Ikki to a job interview etc... It's actually literally the most invested I've been watching these two since episode 2. Which is the whole point, now that I think about it, since the final conflict in this show is now all about Vice's bond with Ikki being sacrificed so that Ikki can be with his family. But honestly, I liked seeing the two of them so much in this episode, maybe I'm rooting for Ikki to just leave his old life at the bathhouse behind after all and embrace his new life with his demon : P If there wasn't only one episode left, they should film new scenes in the opening of Revi and Vice cooking ramen in that restaurant. |
I'm happy that Hiromi and George got to have their date, always fun to have a bit of bromance in Rider, which I felt was definitely missing a bit this season.
Also them arguing over how to say parfait was adorable. |

Especially after the Igarashis are willing to kill Vice, someone they know Ikki sees as family, even if it happens with Vice's permission. That is kinda Ikki's call to make, not any of yours. You all should be ashamed! Also, Ikki? How did you fall for this basic lie? I thought you trusted Vice? You really shouldn't fall for this at all! Seriously, I'm not invested in this cast, but this whole situation kinda makes my blood boil. I can't wait till this show is over. |
I think this is one of the better episodes lately, but it also feels... misplaced? It feels like the kind of drama that shouldn't happen at the very end. One thing I liked about this episode is how it had more moments of levity. Revice in general feels lacking on that front a lot of the time, and having small scenes to endear you to characters like Vice going shopping and Hiromi and George arguing over how to say parfait on their date is just... really welcome!

bold prediction time Ikki seemingly kills Vice only for some deus Ex MAchina to bring him back this episode was good however like many good things in Revice it comes with a colossal BUT(that being how obvious the ending is now if they pulled something completely out of left field like say Vice killing everyone that'd be a problem in of itself)

I have a feeling that the extra 'final form' LiveDevil Stamp or whatever they'll call it is going to bring Vice back or something along those lines.
