Garo Spinoff "ZERO: Black Blood" Teaser & New Garo Project Revealed
1 Attachment(s)
Big news for Garo fans! First up, the long-rumored spinoff "ZERO: Black Blood" has a teaser at last, with an estimated release date of March 2014 and spanning six episodes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6lu2EXuHJc And another new Garo TV project has been confirmed! Known as "Garo: Makai No Hana," this new series will begin in April 2014 and tell the story of Garo's newest user- Raiga; the son of Kouga, the original Golden Knight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy8PCP7qBtY Both teasers were revealed at a Garo-based promotional event this weekend in Japan, where producers also hinted at the possibility of a Garo anime in the future, along with another movie featuring the cast of recently-concluded series "The One Who Shines In Darkness." |
There will also be an anime series with original story written bY Yasuko Kobayashi and a movie sequel to Yami o Terasu Mono

I love that I live in a world where Garo has become a franchise. :D
Zero looks great, of course, and I'm definitely intrigued by The Adventures of Young Kouga. |
If you think the show is f'd up just imagine what they can do in an anime without having to worry about the physical limitations of reality.
Zero looks amazing, and the new Garo looks good to. But I don't understand. The reason these shows, well all shows really, exist is to make money. And from what people've said on this site the Garo toys sold like warm sick in a bowl. So... Are the ratings for that good it warranted another season without the toys selling at all? |

GARO is a late night show, where ratings are low, so it's mosly BD and DVD Sales. IIRC, the DVD and BD for Red Requiem sold very well, same goes for Soukoku no maryu |
1. YES!! The REAL Garo armor!!! Interesting though, is it going to be a younger version of Kouga or a descendant? Does this mean Kaoru and Kouga actually made it past lunch?
2. Wow, I did not know David Bowie was going to be in the Zero series. :-D Since it is only 6 episodes, is it going to just be an direct to video series? |

Makes the timeline for Ryuga even more convoluted now, though. I'm just going to go with my theory that the TOWSITD (thanks, Locke!) universe is an AU and not a direct sequel. |

Awesome, Garo Is definitely my favorite toku series. Hopefully the air dates for these have Zero start in early March and Garo start the third or fourth week of april, so it's 30 straigh episodes of the Garo world.

Isn't that fun to see all these project has been done a year ago while people were asking "when will I have something like <insert>?". :)
Anime (original story, also written by Kobayashi Yasuko) http://stat.ameba.jp/user_images/201...2757621485.jpg Also Ryuga gets a movie. http://stat.ameba.jp/user_images/201...2758582967.jpg http://ameblo.jp/garo-project/entry-11710283576.html EDIT: Garo anime's MC is a makai knight, and his name has 3 words (hinted in Amemiya's blog). - I guess he will not be from the Saejima family (the whatever-ga name). - Since Yamamoto Shouma also works as a voice actor now, his character "山刀翼" ("Yamagatana Tsubasa" may have a better chance of being the hero in the anime. |
So where are you guys reading that the new series will be have Kouga's son in it? And how do you know his name already?

It's an action show about knights fighting demons. Looking "futuristic" really isn't a priority here. |
In Garo season 1 it took place in a big city. Normally you would think it is something similiar to the modern world like ours.
But then in Garo SP the introduction of villiages (and hinting there are more of those out there) and the makai priests community (which is much larger than you think). It seems it is not that modern after all. In Garo season 2 the introduction of the council and the makai knight (and priests) population makes me think that these modern citics are pretty much "satellite shelters". The council are protecting these places and the normal people in these zones. In TOWSITD it goes beyond that by saying a private incorporated foundation can actually buy out a single shelter, and has its own guardian forces. The world doesn't change much when everything is stale. You might see some improvement in lifestyle, but overall nothing has changed. Also the mystery of the map of Volcity and the map of the Promised Ground. Amemiya said it was done on purpose, but no more than that. I guess it plays a big part on how that world actually works. |

Yes, more Garo is always a good thing and I like the idea of the new series. I'm also really glad to hear we'll see more of the Yami side of Garo, even if it's just a movie.

Always down for more Garo, whether it be spin-off, sequel or otherwise. Bring it on I say :D

The 8 chapters included materials of the foundations of the Garo world. http://www.ms-plus.com/images_item/20000/20949_1.jpg I've mentioned before. The visual material doesn't covered all the materials in the Garo world, because Kaneda has been pretty good at picking out bones that has nothing to do with his visual works. As for Amemiya he has lots of ideas, but too lazy to put that up on the official site. The only way to get the big picture is only by reading all the printed materials (which are always written by either another person, or by one of the script writers, but edited by Amemiya himself), follow their tweets, and go to Amemiya's blog to check out his Q&A from time to time. The BBS at official website sometimes have interesting information that comes from Makai Night and Makai Bar (fans meeting at Loft Plus One, and talk portion aired only on Family channel) that fans picked up eariler. It is always a pain in the a**, but if you want to know more about Garo there is always homework to do. |
What a great time to be alive, more GARO stuffs and I made a thing...a thing.

So much going on in that universe.
Zero is not that silver anymore http://s.cinematoday.jp/res/GA/2013/...19-560x600.JPG New makai priestess "Yuna" uses a soul metal sword (normally they can't in that world) instead of the brush. http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps62146939.jpg I wonder how long it took him to learn to play with the bow. http://s.cinematoday.jp/res/GA/2013/...91-560x600.JPG |

Does that mean this guy is not named Raiga? Nope, as it seems like it is. HOwever, to assume that he has to be named that because of some fanfiction is a joke. |

You don't get to decide what does or doesn't count. Most shows have supplimentary material that detail their universe outside the show. Does that mean the DC Fringe tie-in comics aren't real? That Doctor Who Audio dramas aren't cannon? The shows runners and creators created these 100% OFFICIAL side stories. You don't deem whats cannon or not. If that's the opinion your going to have then take it elsewhere. It adds nothing constructive to this topic. |
So this story was written by Amemiya?

Garo: Flower of Makai, and Ryuga's movie are unknown (but 80% chances they will be written by Taguchi Kei) |
Regardless of who wrote them, if they are authorized by the company and creators which own and produce the show it doesn't matter. That still makes them cannon or official. If it was unsanctioned, sure, it'd be fan fic or whatever. But totally licensed approved and marketed materials are far far from it.
|
While Amemiya "created" Garo, it is Taguchi Kei's ideas building up the entire Garo world.
He is the brain behind all seasons, movies, and novels. The book I mentioned earlier is also his work. |
The GARO Ankoku Makai Kishi Hen novel and Yoseki no Wana novel were written by Yuji Kobayashi, one of the main writers of season 1 and both were approved by Keita Amemuya. Seriously, how moronic can get you get? Fanfic because it's not happening on screen? Oh wow, I guess you really never heard of the many many Japanese media franchise that have novel and supplementary tie ins which are official? Just because the "main creator" doesn't write doesn't mean it's not official or canon, many of the idea still comes from the main creator but a lot of time they don't have the time write to all of them and because workload that would have been involved, they usually leave it to writer with their approval. Using novels and supplementary materials to fill in the hole in the main series happens a lot in Japanese media franchise and AFAIK, other media franchises as well.
So, basically unless you saw them on screen, you're not gonna considered it canon even if the main creator does? Oh okay, then why don't you just live inside your own little world called "Dr Kain's magnificent world where everything has to have my approval to be official" |
At the end of the trailer one of the eye on the Garo armor is damaged.
|
Is this novel even worth all of this conflict over? I mean not everything canon with Garo was that great. Kiba Gaiden for instance, with the exclusion of the fights, was rather boring and my Garo experience was not improved having watched it.
