Giant Saver (Jyushen Zhanjidui) episode 1 on YTB
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRYbsU2S_Ak
Well, you may skip the opening, that's some awful singing..... |
LOL at that singing... it's like bad karaoke.
|
That singing, it's just so awful.
|
Aww, the singing wasn't too bad. The sound effects were really overpowering, but it's felt like a generic poppy superhero show opening to me. (And still not as bad as Operation Overdrive's.)
|
You know, the song itself isn't bad. The beat is actually kinda catchy but that singing…it's like the guy isn't even trying LOL. It sounds just as bad as the Korean Gokaiger opening.

You know; For a first attempt at your own Sentai-Style series this isn't that bad. Yes there are some rough edges. The singing in the theme song being the first. But all-in-all that wasn't horrible. I've seen worse from us trying to remake Power Rangers. Looking at you Ninja Storm.

I'll save judgement on things that involve understanding words for when and if this is augmented with subtitles. For things that don't require that to appreciate(a.k.a. the opening), I'll say I share the opinion of Kiryu in this case.

Do we know who made the show? I wanna know what their resume looks like, and I'm curious to know if they've had involvement with Toei in the past.
|
I wonder if I speak fluent Japanese I would find the dialogues in the Sentai shows as cringe worthy as some of the lines from this show...

Haha, I'm sure the lines are cheesy no matter what language toku shows are in. I'm learning Chinese, so I didn't understand too much, but it was pretty interesting.
I thought the show was pretty neat. I'd watch it if it were uploaded in HD. And had subs. That way I could watch toku and learn more Chinese at the same time. |
I actually like it, I will admit its a little rough around the edges. I hope it does well and we get to see it improve.

The stunt director for both Armor Hero and Giant Saver is Takanori Shibahara, who has been doing stunts in many tokusatsu shows back in 80s, and most of those were Toei's. Shibahara has his own stunt company now: http://wild-europe.com/takanori_shibahara-en-1 I heard the major in-suit-actors/actress are all from Shibahara's team, some of them were in Hesei Rider/Sentai. |
Well Kiryu, that's why it feels like a Toei production.
Nice grab, Tek. |
My, that opening sure is....something :lol
That aside though, I'm continuing to be impressed by this show. Fingers crossed someone like DoReMii show some interest in subbing it. |
Not bad--not quite the Infra-Man levels of insanity I was hoping for, but still--pretty cool to see it filtered through a different sensibility.
|
Subs would be great. If only I spoke Chinese....
|
huh....that looks pretty good
|
i love their mentor and he doing pushups

giant saver series have no close song and no ep 2 periaw
|
Wow, this actually looks good. So much better than Thailand's Sport Ranger and the Philippines' Zaido.

So I watched the first episode and noticed some things, good and bad.
Bad: 1.The theme song.Probably sounds great over there but does china have any popular singers/artists to sing for it? 2.It seems like they spent most of the budget on cgi and the suits.Dont get me wrong,I do like both,it just seems like the fights are lacking...something. 3.Lack of background people. Most sentais you see crowds of people fleeing or just in a general area. This only had the people needed which leads me to think the budget got too tight and they had to just stick with the actors that mattered. It just feels empty and doesnt make the monster attacks seem all too threatening. 4.No solid plot.Without knowing whats going on short of "the bad guys have (insert object here),we must stop them!",its kind of hard to follow. Those things being said it is the first episode. The good. 1.I like that they started off with a mech battle and ended with a regular fight instead of the other way around. And they had the mech fight at night so you couldn't really get the detail of it or how it transformed. 2.The suits and acting are awesome.I was rolling when the chief stopped doing pushups just to hide cause he didnt want to deal with them. 3.The fact the characters/motif are based off the same characters from Journey to the West.Red is Sun Wukong,Green is Zhu Bajie, aka Pigsy, and Blue is Sha Wujing, the Water Buffalo.Yellow is Princess Iron Fan,Grey is Bull Demon King, and Purple is Er Lang Shan. http://powerrangers.wikia.com/wiki/Jushen_ZhanJiDui 4.The interaction between characters is really strong, the way red, blue and green were arguing. Also when they showed them doing stuff besides fighting, showing their true selves and how each one is. These are just my thoughts after the first episode.I know it'll get better and I can't wait to watch the next. It's a good filler till Jyuden Sentai Kyoryuger.:) |

Despite people having different opinions on various types of music, this particular singing is universally terrible, I assure you. Most Chinese speakers would agree this sound like some bad Karaoke..... |
