DX Dynazenon toy
|
Oh no.
|
Another trainwreck, good luck GSC, this time, at least include a garbage bag with every purchase.
|
Pics look good, but so did DX FP Gridman's glamour shots.
And at almost double the price of that set with how poorly that came out, yeah not willing to risk it twice. |
Yes, absolutely wonderful. Truly the pinnacle of toy engineering. I always wanted a combining plastic hand grenade that falls apart every 2 seconds.
|
At least it seems that everything is painted. Dunno about it's sturdiness tho, but the first Gridman one was flimsy as fuck.
I'd buy it if it was around 60-70$, but 220? Haha, no. HELL NO! I'll wait for Takara's version or for someone to make model kit. |
If I recall, their Gridman figure was shit, so this will be an easy pass unless they prove they learned their lesson.
Considering the price point, they damn well better have :lol |

So promo shots always look nice, its what lurks in the final package that is a disgustingly cheap suprise. It's like the worst kind of Kinder Suprise Egg, just filled with cheap ko-quality sadness. I doubt they've changed, these are the same assholes who released a qc trash fire A SECOND TIME after all the outcry over the quality and price, but in initial fighter colors. No fixes. Same trash. Different color pallete. I think they just learned that they could scam people for double the money and push their limits further with the customer base. I'd wait for Takaras, even if their QC has been trash the last couple years, its still eons better than GSC. Their non-Transformers domestic lines are chonky, sturdy, and rich in diecast. Earth Granner and the Tomica Rescue lines are excellent. |
I’m pretty sure it’ll be better. “Better” to the point that it warrants the price or worth buying before the show airs or you see how the thing combines I don’t know, but as per its page on the GSC website.
Release Date:04/2021 Price:¥20,000 (Before Tax) Specifications:Painted ABS non-scale action figure with stand included. Approximately 250mm in height to top of head (when standing upright). Sculptor:ASTRAYS Cooperation:Sentinel |

I need a model kit so bad. |

I really hope they do at least something for those that bought Gridman, at least to make ammends. |
It’s not double the price though? DX Full Powered Gridman retailed for 15,278 yen and this retails for 20,000 yen.
I’m not gonna pretend that Full Powered Gridman is a good toy, I bought that thing for full price and was definitely let down by it. But let’s not exaggerate the difference. Also stuff like stands not being in the box? I’d rather that happen to a GSC product than anything else - at least they’ll replace the piece free of charge. Good luck getting that kind of customer service with Premium Bandai. |

My point still stands that it was a trash release GSC did nothing to fix. You in no way can fault P-Bandai, those products are for domestic sale only, and you are voiding the warranty by importing. Premium Bandai can only help domestic customers and, on the contrary, give quite good customer service domestically. They have on many occasions issued replacements. For example, the sentai artisan Aura changer set was missing one sound from its cycle, they issued replacments that included that one missing sound. In the west, Bandai of America, issued replacment parts to fix the lean issue in the legacy thunder megazord. The thunder megazord cost about $50 more converted than gridman, and the aura changers a bit less. Aside from the stands, the way GSC handled the situation was terrible, no customer support, for what was ultimately a moderately overpriced qc ridden faulty mess. |
GSC did do a replacement parts scheme to fix some (admittedly not all) of the issues...

I'm surprised they're still running it though, says people are still eligible for another year. They do make the combination stay together better, but it doesn't completely fix it because the plastic is so cheap. I'm hoping that's fixed on Dynazenon because the page says its just made of ABS plastic rather than ABS and PVC. |

Absolutely, in fact I’m genuinely surprised you had such a bad experience with GSC customer service. Of all the Japanese companies I’ve had to deal with whilst collecting they’ve by far been the best. I’ve gotten numerous replacement parts from them in the past, both whether they’ve come like that in package or broken after opening them. That’s incredibly shitty that they never even gave you a response.

Ahh, maybe that’s it then. I have no experience with their US branch, I always just go straight to the Japanese customer service. They’re really good with international customers.

But back to GSC, I hope this DX release truly has DX quality in its plastic, paint, and build. |
It looks nice in the pictures but you know the saying "Fool me once...."
Im debating selling my DX Gridman but im worried that its going to be impossible given the reputation of the figure and the fact that I've applied the stickers, built the hands etc. Here's hoping TakTomy can tackle both the original and Dynazeon eventually. |
Having the best of hopes!
Honestly, GSC kinda low-key balls with the recent Mecha stuff. But have you guys seen the Hagane line? Their demonbane figure was superb! I have hopes because sentinel is partnered with them. But also I expected at least some diecast...for ¥200,000 both it better be worth it.

Their prices can sometimes rival SHF in how way-too-high they are, though... |
So, are they gonna show us the “ multiple configurations”, or are we just meant to pre-order blind?

This coming out at the end of the same month the anime starts means it doesn't have that leeway. |
not sure how I feel about it looks like a cross between G1 Star Saber and DaiTanken from Boukenger
|
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I pre-ordered last week.
And the more updates I see on this toy the less I worry - its Sentinel doing Sentinel stuff alright. This week we got a look at the robot combination for this toy and a rather awesome gimmick. https://ameblo.jp/gscrobo/entry-12667259884.html The combination: https://i.imgur.com/S8OI9xc.jpg https://i.imgur.com/A0dpku4.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qTbVueP.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Xe6fI8b.jpg https://i.imgur.com/uOAb2cu.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ww6Wj7Q.jpg https://i.imgur.com/l1ExS8I.jpg https://i.imgur.com/9aTsMQQ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/MEUyG6w.jpg https://i.imgur.com/5JeEsqY.jpg As for the gimmick - I did notice springs on the rocket launcher compartments of Dyna Diver. And surely enough, they do spring upon via the push of a button. But not all at once. No. In succession. https://i.imgur.com/72EjANZ.gif Also, because why not, Dyna Saber effect pieces. https://i.imgur.com/IjyBzLY.jpg |
Good god it is not fair how cool this thing looks. I cannot possibly justify the price but Dynazenon is probably the number 1 coolest mecha I've ever seen in everything it does, and for once the toy is actually looking to match that as well!
|
There's definitely a lot of things the toy can do and I think they've yet to reveal all of it yet. There's still the obvious Dyna Dragon form somewhere in there.
Just sucks I don't have the $200+ greens to afford it lmao! But if they do (and I know they will) make Figma figures of Yume, Yomogi, and/or Chise, I'd grab 'em. And if they make Yume, I need a Yomogi. It won't feel complete. Sucked last time they didn't make Yuuta, well, I mean Gridman is technically Yuuta but still. |
Oh, and I just found these - a demo for the finishing attack pose as well as an advertisement video done in the classic TV-ad style.
Here's the demo (it has sound so you can hear the glorious motorized gimmick noises) https://i.imgur.com/uBNHLcg.mp4 And here’s the ad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_YOG2R9Hcc&t=29s Quote:
And with "walked" I mean flopped horribly. Quote:

I would love to have a figma of Gauma myself but sadly they already made one of these simple statues of him. Which are way too tall to be posed with Dynazenon sadly. |
Man, I love everything about this toy.

Wasn't the DX Gridman also designed by Sentinel? |
Amiami's blog has also been going more in-depth with the DX set weekly and honestly it pushed me to take the plunge on a preorder last week myself.
Dyna Soldier's articulation alone sold me when compared to DX Gridman's base form and how limited it was. The combination breakdown, articulation demonstrations, the alternate parts...I'm honestly shocked that this is only $20 to $30 more than the DX Gridman set was considering how much more functional it seems in all modes at this point. |

I believe the upcoming Thunder Gridman set is also co-opted by Sentinel? I could be wrong.

Do you guys think we'll be getting a SMP release, like with Gridman?
|
What are the chances that DX Dynazenon will have articulated hands? Full Power Gridman came with that but you had to put them together, not that I mind that.
