So no photo set this week but - they did a live stream and Japanese toy reviewer Wotafa was given what appears to be a complete sample to test out.
I'm happy with what I'm seeing. Mainly because like, you can pick this thing up and it's solid. Not a wobbly mess like DX Gridman. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSu5...ature=youtu.be |
Man now I'm very happy I went in on this.
Combination looks simple and chunky, engineering seems to balance stability and articulation extremely well...I'm convinced if Sentinel didn't co-design this it'd be another DX Gridman. |
I am so upset that I didn't spring for this 'cuz of the price.
I reeeeeeeeally hope the aftermarket prices won't be monstrously huge. |

To be fair though - having the entire lower body as a separate piece helps a lot. One massive flaw of DX Gridman was the need for the core figure legs (and hips) to fully support the robot legs. But you definitely see instances were Sentinel comes in, like the outward movements of the arms on Dynazenon. Having the sliding pieces incorporated into Dyna Striker so Dyna Soldier’s arms only need to deliver the rotating motion is genius. Quote:

Tokullectibles still have preorders open for him. Latest you'll probably get him is June in that case.

How reliable is Tokullectibles? I've heard that they can be pretty pricey.

'ight, that sounds good to me.
|
At this point, I would honestly put money on Tokullectibles being the best place in the US to buy toku stuff from.
Shipping is precalculated, a real person answers customer service emails, and they ship basically as soon as they get it. |
So...I guess there is nothing new about DX SSSS.Dynazenon for now?

We'll probably see it on Japanese Toy Youtuber videos soon.
|
There is now a short video review for the DX Dynazenon. At the end, there is also some sort of way for the previous release' Gridman to combine.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2wCrWAaYyQ |
Yeah I would not be surprised if Gridknight combined with Dynazenon like an armor. And then soldier becomes a cannon.
|
Just paid Amiami for my preorder so I'm gonna hope DHL gets this to me by Friday.
Soldier seemingly having a handle to pull off a cannon form feels super intentional considering the way SSSS.Gridman ended with things going back to how they looked in the original series. |
First review points out DynaSoldiers' shoulder hinge is on a spring pin that is already starting to crack.
https://twitter.com/himuru/status/1392441907771437061 More stellar work from GSC then. |

EDIT: I didn’t mean to sound so passive aggressive, just curious if there are more reports of this occurring. |
I agree that I'd also wait to see if this is recurring or not.
I know it's easy to be skeptical of things given how FP Gridman went, but unlike that one where we started getting warning signs of potential quality even before it came out, here everything we've seen up to now has been perfectly fine. Not gonna let one mention of someone having QC issues paint my expectations yet. |
I'm having a really hard time resisting buying this magnificent toy. Those early issues make me glad I didn't pre-order. I'm waiting to see more reviews and hoping it doesn't sell out if I wait to long.
I passed on the DX King Joe and kinda regret it. |
Potential spoilers so look at your own risk
It seems there are specific connectors that allow it to combine with DX Gridman https://imgur.com/a/gC7P2LP |

That cracking on Dyna Solider is a little concerning but it will not effect my enjoyment with the toy itself as I have a couple of Transformer figures that go through that same issue but because of the price for Dynazenon...I can understand why people would have concerns. Anyway enough about that as I can’t wait to have it standing with my other super robots (Lion Voltron, Vehicle Voltron, GaoGaiGar and DX Bike Robo) they are gonna look awesome! Plus I had a feeling that this toy could be able to combine with Gridman so it makes me wonder if the old cast from SSSS.Gridman will make an appearance in SSSS.Dynazenon? It would be neat if they did but I would be surprised either if it was just Grinan only. |
There was a mini-pla kit of SSSS Gridman and I wonder if they'll do one for Dynazenon. I prefer the smaller scale.
|
Got my shipping notification this morning so I guess I'll have Dynazenon sometime next week. Really looking forward to pairing him up with Figma Gridman.

Like, WTF? You literally see he doesn't peg things together properly, what is he expecting will happen if he shakes it? And oh no, the helmet comes off if you accidentally flick at it with your fingers. That's the one thing I was looking forward to do on mine, such a shame this key feature from the source material is not possible! And about the waist connection, this might be fiddly but GSC has shared images to help, all you need to do is line it up properly and maybe push the lever back manually so it sits better. I doubt this is a QC error as much as people doing it wrong. https://i.imgur.com/CjVajJX.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ZTfs9t9.jpg https://i.imgur.com/9PN1oD9.jpg The one thing I will give this guy is the balljoints on Dina Wing have a tendency to pop off, because that has happened to other people. But they're balljoints. They made them that way so that you can put them back in socket. I will reserve proper judgment until I have mine in hand, but we have seen other people take this thing, shake it around and stuff and never did the things happen that happened to this guy. I don’t want to say he's incompetent or anything, but I would assume he didn't do things properly. |
Yea, it seemed more like user error rather than an actual QC problem. Also, I don't know anyone who'd treat their $200 collector's toy so roughly like it's meant for children.

As the that one ball joint on Dyna Wing, some good old floor polish will fix that issue up. |
I don't even need to watch that video to know it's an overreaction.
You don't still run into the same QC issues as DX Gridman when you went to Sentinel...SENTINEL...to co-produce and develop this set. Some minor ones? Perhaps. But with Sentinel's track record you won't get a wobbly mess of jingling plastic parts. They're better than that. Trust me, I get the hesitation with Dynazenon after how massive a disappointment the Gridman set was, I HATED DX Gridman, but after seeing all the hands-on demonstrations, walk-throughs, specific call-outs that go "Hey look, this isn't DX Gridman-quality!", etc. But using that distrust to fuel ways of finding negative aspects of this new release isn't exactly the way to go, either. |
I can't believe the only "correctly-proportioned" Gridknight toy is either the minipla one or the HAF. I'm this close to just grabbing the Figma, but I really want one that doesn't have big shoulders.

At least that's what I hope, even if I didn’t like the video I hope he didn’t get bullied or something. People get way too crazy on YouTube. Or the internet in general. Quote:

Personally I'd say give the Figma a chance even with the stylized look. The way he and Gridman can move is insane given the line they're a part of.

Got my Dynazenon set in today and put him in to both combined modes.
Quick verdict: Leagues better than DX Full-Powered Gridman in every aspect. As for long thoughts: Each component feels solid. Dyna Soldier is a really sturdy little articulated robot. Dyna Wing's wing joints are notched for stability when you need to reposition them for certain formations and the helmet connects to the main body practically seamlessly. Dyna Striker's a solid little race car that you wouldn't think could split apart. Dyna Diver's obviously the least interesting of the set but the missile pod action feature works super-well in hand. Only draw back to it is the mechanism can sometimes make it impossible to close a hatch or two without re-activating the feature first so the latches can reset. Combinations: The sequence for both Dynazenon and Dyna Rex is involved but not difficult. Most of the transformation comes from Dyna Soldier who pulls it off extremely well in both sequences. He's got a lot of engineering packed into him to pull off both the robot torso and the rex upper torso and head. Claws on both hands and feet are sharp though so be cautious. Dyna Wing's connections onto Soldier are also fairly secure. The robot torso formation is rock-solid thanks to how they form a block via Soldier's shoulders and Wing's groove areas. Same with the tabs, which connect via slightly-mushroomed pegs. Wings are ratcheted as mentioned, so no drooping whatsoever in Dragon mode. The hidden flairs within the wings are a great touch too, I didn't even realize they opened up. Dyna Diver's leg formation for both forms is straight forward. The knees can bend deeply which is also used to pull off the digitigrade legs for Rex mode. The ball joint ankles in both mode are tight and have great range along with a good foot print for stability. Only downside is that there's no thigh swivel whatsoever. The legs can splay out just enough to get him looking natural or ready for action, but don't expect replicating all the flip and kick poses Dynazenon does in the show. Dyna Striker's connection in robot mode is, again, straight forward. Connecting them to the Soldier arms grants you ratchet joints moving outward which, again, is great for stability. It'd recommend moving them carefully and at the shoulders though so you're not just putting all the pressure on the arm. You'll disconnect them that way. Elbows have great range, wrists can bend inward thanks to a hinge that helps with natural posing. And its connection in Rex mode is wild. Sturdy despite only connecting via two tabs on the sides of the waist. Doesn't feel weak at all. Only QC complaint I really have outside of the slight missile hatch problem is that the skirt armor pieces attached to Wing can pop off their ball joints a bit too easily if bent the wrong way, but otherwise pop back on easily and stay in place. All the other connections feel good and I can pick both modes up and give them a shake without hearing jiggling plastic or risking parts falling off. Overall, I really like him. He looks good in both modes, the individual parts are charming and fun on-top of basically being Show replicas, it's an overall way more functional piece than DX Gridman despite its design limitations. Does it feel like a $200 product? Not completely to me. But I'm not complaining. I think most are gonna enjoy him once they get him in-hand. |
So, I'm guessing the Gigan-techs GridKnight is to pair with this one, huh? Gridknight/man were very small next to it.
|
Gigan-techs is gonna be way too big for this. The comparison shot I saw for Knight had him at about a quarter taller than Dynazenon.
So there's no real scale companion for him. I don't mind the look of Figma Gridknight and Gridman beside him since him being bigger makes more sense to me than being the same size, so I can overlook the canon sizes personally. |
A second run will be coming soon. Perhaps with some fixes...
https://twitter.com/gsc_hiro/status/1394496029123219459 |
Well I was having some regrets not ordering this after enjoying the show and hearing it's well executed. So that'll be nice.
|
I mean the only fix I can think of is tighter ball joint connections on Dyna Wing's hip armor pieces. Maybe slightly tighter connections for the waist, not that it desperately needs it...
Again, this isn't DX Gridman. If anyone says its a mess, trust me it's not. Having put it together and taken it apart myself and seeing where the drawbacks are, it's solid overall. |
Well if the 2nd run is improved in any way, I'm definitely in.
