I'm curious about something! That is so unlike me!
What's your model kit construction process like? Any tips or tricks you've found helpful? For me, I'll lay every runner out on a table, alphabetically, and then I'll use the box to clip pieces and build parts. I'll hold the box on my lap while I work, so I don't lose pieces or make a plasticy mess. Like so! https://challengerscomics.com/images/kr/sodo/model6.jpg (I'm out of Figure-Rise kits, so that's a Furai Skywarp I built today. Giant soda from Subway is recommended, but not required.) Any part of your process that you'd be willing to share would be appreciated! Thanks! |
Oh, I'm a messy fool who lays out all her stuff on her bed with a bunch of coke cans beside me! Sure, I cut parts out over the open box and use said open box to put all the rubbish in; but otherwise I have a way too risky process with no real benefits. Hell yeah!

I am hilariously inept when it comes to putting things together, and model kits are no exception. This why I'm always hesitant to get a kit, even if it's a character I straight up know will never get an action figure(like Great Zeorymer). |

(i was originally going to reply with a pic of Fourze offering a handshake but I couldn't find one and got lazy) |
I refuse to buy proper model kit tools. I just use a pocket knife, nailclippers, and toothpicks. It works well enough, th figures look fine as long as you don't look too close

I use a set of sprue cutters, an Xacto knife, a fine toothed file and some sand paper.
If something is going to receive paint or a lot of stickers, I usually soak the pieces in bowl of warm soapy water and give them a gentle scrub with an old toothbrush. This helps primer/paint/stickers stick to the plastic better because most plastic/resin/white metal is coated in some kind of oil to help it release from the mold when it's being made. Also, good music or an audiobook are a must if you've got a lengthy project. |

Second, I really like to zone out making kits, even if they take a few hours, so I don't listen to nothing. No distractions, just focusing on my task to the exclusion of everything else. Mindfulness, you know? |
