TN's first LP! Let's Play Kamen Rider: Memory of Heroez
Hola amigos! Rather than type out some elaborate intro, lemme just quote what I've already said about this project:
Quote:
Hope you all join me and everyone else who hit me up to be in the LP in having fun with the best Kamen Rider game to date! |
|
My buddy Niko joins me to talk about the weird copyrights that this game has.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YmLavIjU8I And here are the data cards for the combos that premiere this episode. https://i.imgur.com/756qpZ8.png https://i.imgur.com/xS7ZvGx.png And lastly, a trivia question for anyone who wants to participate: How many Gaia Memories are actually used by Shotaro and Philip throughout the TV series and movies/specials of Kamen Rider W? |

--- In this next part, my binge buddy joins me in talking about W as some familiar faces make themselves known. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vlJIvhEWjw Data Cards for the newest forms: https://i.imgur.com/IQvQUDx.png https://i.imgur.com/RQ7JUuj.png And another trivia question: How many hats does Shotaro actually own? |
Quote:
https://i.imgur.com/9a04F9F.png --- In this episode, Die joins me in talking about our discovery that Terui is actually a cat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSEVvVn1uKo And the next trivia question: Who was Terui's' first kiss? |
Quote:
First off, let me apologize for any audio issues in this installment. I'd just gotten a new vocal processor put into my very actual human neck compartment, as I am a for real human being, and had not updated the firmware before DreamSword and I recorded. Lesson learned for next time! Second, this was such a blast to do. My ability to shoot the shit about Kamen Rider vocally is so limited (my passion for it as a franchise basically makes it off-limits to talk about with my non-TokuNation friends) that I could have done another couple hours of this game with DS. Ridiculously fun to participate in, and I'm very grateful that DS let me tag in for this episode. Quote:
|
Since I already talked a lot about the City Sector in my review of my first few hours of gameplay, I'll probably have more stuff to talk about now that you're entering the Forest Sector. It's a good LP so far though!
I'm currently at the Wasteland Sector and getting close to the end of the story. Once I unlock Extreme mode, I plan to replay in a few months. Quote:

Thanks for the shout out

--- Anyway guys, the answer as to who Terui's' first kiss is... https://i.imgur.com/T1qBeoM.png Shotaro! (in what was probably my favorite two-parter of W, funnily enough) --- In this next bit, both Niko and Ryo join me in talking about the game's' boss design and also some bits on the Unity engine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqYhLnOGGtA Data Card for the new member of our team: https://i.imgur.com/Tlautc6.png As for the next trivia question: How many Core Medals are actually used by Eiji throughout the TV series and movies/specials of Kamen Rider OOO? |
I believe this video might answer that question (just omit BiKaSo, the Poseidon combo and all the ones that were created for the CSM release).

Looks like I'm late to the party. And seeing as he's in this game, here's the first Reiwa Rider himself, Kamen Rider Zero-One!
Attachment 60324 Kind of crummy since he was drawn before Saber debuted (I have an Illustration of him too) and I just started digital art back then, so there might be some mistakes I missed when I dug him out. I'm improving every day, so I guess this counts as my starting line, hopefully I'll have more and better art in the future, same with a new Profile pic, I'll actually draw. |

The weird thing about the boss fight against Uva and Kazari is that they start with all their Core Medals, which means they should be at their strongest here. But in gameplay, they're at their weakest. Although I guess this gets a little bit of an explanation later.
Tatoba's Batta jumping power is also inexplicably non-existent compared to Gatakiriba. It's more like playing TakaTora[x] since the Batta Medal doesn't do anything in this Combo, except for Scanning Charge. Those are cosmetic legs. Did they think people would have even less incentive to use Gatakiriba if they gave Batta jumping to both forms? I'd consider Eiji's VA not quite as convincing as Shoutarou's or Phillip's, but I think he gets better as the game progresses, or I just get used to it. Either way, he's still a lot better than that deep OOO from various crossovers. As mentioned in my review, I was still firmly on Team Shoutarou in the "AI: Teki ka? Mikata ka?" debate at this point. OOO was literally a tyrant several centuries ago, so evil symbol doesn't necessarily imply evil character in this franchise. While Phillip does have some right to be concerned, I think he comes across a little too antagonistic towards AI in his accusations. Oh BTW, as of this post, I have now completed the game! Quote:

Kuwagata, Kamakiri, Batta. (3) Lion, Tora, Cheetah. (6) Sai, Gorilla, Zou. (9) Taka, Kujaku, Condol. (12) Shachi, Unagi, Tako. (15) Ptera, Tricera, Tyranno. (18) Cobra, Kame, Wani. (21) 3x King's Tatoba Medals. (24) Ankh's personal Taka Medal. (25) Imagin, Shocker. (27) Kangaroo. (28) Subtotal: 28. If you count Megamax as an OOO movie: X, Amazon, Stronger. (31) 3x Super Tatoba Medals. (34) Total: 34? |

And I'm glad you decided to join us! Quote:

And congrats on finishing the game! --- As for the answer to how many Core Medals Eiji has used...
So grats SH Ranger! You win this one! However... You could also technically count the Love Medals and the Foundation X Medals in there, but I'm not. So yeah, 34 is the answer! --- In this episode, Niko and Die join me in talking about OOO and... Kiriya from Hibiki? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNoRhldyzoI --- Data Card for our new form: https://i.imgur.com/JLKNFM0.png --- And now for the next trivia question: What is Eiji's' favorite way to clean his boxers? |
Quote:
I appreciate the shoutout as well! Although you mispronounced the "Sh" part, but that's fine. :p |
Quote:
--- The answer to the latest question is: Eiji loves his boxers to be hand washed and air dried. Even hung them out to dry right outside of his work a couple times, haha. --- In this episode I go solo, in an attempt to help people understand what is commonly considered one of the more annoying boss fights in the game; Kazari. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dqERnILJrE --- Our reward for beating up a smug cat: https://i.imgur.com/VANAp3t.png --- New trivia question: What world record did Eiji's' actor set during his time on OOO? |
I’m not quite sure on that one. Closest I can think I’d his winning the 21st Junon Superboy Contest in 2008, but that was slightly earlier (first place was Tomohiro Ichikawa, who is currently playing Yuri/Kamen Rider Saikou in Kamen Rider Saber).
Though I will say that I am prepared for if/when you ask how many Progrise Keys Zero-One uses throughout his show and it’s spin offs. |

One day, I would love to play this game, and any other Kamen Rider game I can get my hands on. |
Well I ended up letting the first chunk of this pass me by, I'm not good with watching things constantly nowadays just due to focusing a lot on writing or coming up with ideas for writing. lol
It's why a lot of binge watches I started have sort of stalled. But I decided to watch all seven available parts of the LP today, and I'm enjoying it greatly. Given RealXTime just dropping on physical and Zero-One's presence (despite how minor it is) in this game, I might make a Zero-One TMV. Note it'll be a tad low quality because I don't actually have good tools for creating MV's but what I lack in tools, effects and sources I make up for in heart when I make them, or at least I try to. But yeah overall I've been enjoying it greatly, it's been fun just listening to everyone shoot off about Kamen Rider while watching the gameplay. It's also nice to see someone play differently from me, because I was very much unga bunga most of the time. Speaking of like Rider Games in general, or like Tokusatsu in general does anyone else feel a Yakuza styled Toku game would be a good idea? I just like the idea of confining yourself to a small area you have to fight to protect the peace of while also getting into wacky shenanigans via side stories. |

If there's a second thing I've learned from Kamen Rider, it's to stay away from quarries. Quote:

--- As for what World Record Shu Watanabe set during his time on OOO... https://i.imgur.com/mMEIjck.png https://i.imgur.com/endlfBC.png He perfectly named all 119(at the time) sub forms for OOO while running around Toei Studios in under 2 minutes! --- For our latest entry, Binge Buddy and Die join me in talking about fights, environments, and underwear. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJNtLuv1veU --- New Trivia Question: Across the TV show and movies/specials for OOO, how many people have become Kamen Rider Birth? |
5: Nobu-kun, Date, Brotou, Satonaka-san and Eiji himself.
|
Yeah 5 is my answer as well, bonus answer is 6 because of the lovely guys at SIC deciding that Rinko from Wizard would use the Birth Suit apparently.
One thing I didn't get to mention in my first post though was I do like the little flair of adding in the actual transformations in series. Really gives the LP a heart of it's own. ----- Quote:

I do have a link to my Vimeo page too if you want to check out what I've done. It's a mix of MV's and a few meme-filled things. |
Eiji wasn't kidding about Tortoise Yummy. This was the first boss fight to give me a game over. That thing was totally brutal! He consumed a lot of my time in Survival as well. Not looking forward to dealing with him again in Extreme.
Latorartar is very useful for quick navigation. I pretty much used it for the entirety of the office level and most of that boss fight. The only annoying part is that Eiji repeats the same line everytime for that one attack. I have a preference for speed types though, so it makes sense that I would enjoy this form. Anyway, the Water Purification Sector. It starts out pretty boring especially since you're forced to be OOO again in this part even though he literally just had a lot of gameplay. But the lower level of the facility is one of my favorites, which I'll talk more about later. |

Ooh now this "What is your favorite mook" questions is something I can answer easily and gush but have it be topical thanks to what TTFC is doing lately.
The Ganma Footsoldiers. There's this nice distinct separation of classes between all of them. The commando's are faceless swarming enemies, you've got the assault's who are one class above them that are similar in design but have faces. And they're able to get upgraded into Ganma of the Week. Then they do the really clever thing and bring in the Ganma Superior's and Ganma Ultima's as mini-boss enemies at first. The further we get into Ghost though, those two enemy types become part of the regular line up of mooks fighting the heroes. And it shows this cool growth of the Riders being able to take on multiple of these guys at once with ease after having started off rough with having trouble with them prior. As for your suggestion for the idea of keeping MoH's combat but with an RGG Studio's story and sidequest sort of deal, I like that idea too. So long as they refine upon the combat because the combat in this game while not the best, is actually pretty nice and a good basis to build upon. |
My answer is Rising Hopper, Biting Shark, Flying Falcon, Flaming Tiger, Freezing Bear, Breaking Mammoth, Shining Hopper (which doubles as Shining Assault Hopper when the Assault Grip is used), Metal Cluster Hopper, Zero-Two, Ark-One and Realizing Hopper for the tv shows, with Hopping Kangaroo, Rocking Hopper and Hellrise. And this is excluding all the Riders who are considered “false forms” of Zero-One and Zero-Two (which would include Ark Scorpion, Eden, Ark Zero-One, Massbrain and Dire Wolf).
|
Sorry, accidental double post.
Though since I’ve done it now, I might as well use this as a chance to promote someone else’s appropriate fanfiction. It’s basically his own take on what a US adaptation of Zero-One would look like. Zero-1 Rider And while I’m at it, I’ll promote my own work (it’s a lot similar to this guy’s, though with better quality control. Sentai Adaptations |

But yeah, this game's' battle system with the story and exploration of a Yakuza game? Man, I'd love it. Quote:

Quote:
Continuing onto the LP, I must say you are either confident or insane when it comes to this No Ability run. I usually tried to grab whatever I could for certain forms I liked. |
I don't use Sagohzo much since it's so heavy, but I still owe my life to it many times when I'm up against an enemy with a large AOE attack that's hard to evade. It has amazing defense! Actually, its ability to not flinch at attacks seems like something I would have expected more from Shauta's Tako sticking power. So I can say that even with the agility disadvantage, Sagohzo is a solid form for tanking, which is why I leveled it up alongside Latorartar just for emergencies.
At least Phillip taking some time out in the Gaia Library is a little more constructive than constantly trying to force his suspicions about AI on Shoutarou. He was really bringing down the mood for the rest of the party so I think it's good when he snapped that he decided to actually do something helpful, by trying to research some facts. That's what he does best. I like how this game actually shows that despite how tight they've become, they're still human and can clash sometimes. Anyway, I called it from my review! Professor Zeus was the Zeus Dopant all along! :p Not that I had to think too hard like a detective to figure that out. But as someone who enjoys seeing connections to those mythologies, I think it's cool how the whole Core Energy thing relates to the theme of creation and the story of Prometheus and it's always been something I liked about Foundation X. Where Shocker are mostly interested in world domination, Foundation X are more intrigued by the possibilities of science and playing god, which provides some nice themes about the strength of will of humanity to surpass their own nature. Quote:
Zero Zero Zero One (what were you thinking, Aruto?) Hyper One NEW Zero One (my personal favorite) Strong One Zero Two (approved name) Total: 6. |
Quote:
So I guess to answer your question a little of both? Haha. Quote:

And yeah, it's definitely a realistic portrayal. Heck, some of my closest friends I've known for like 10+ years, and we still get snippy with each other from time to time. It happens. Quote:

--- Die and I talk about Accel, Suit Acting, and the general tone of OOO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXaxNDTTwpw --- Accel comes with alot. https://i.imgur.com/AfVGbaO.png https://i.imgur.com/sbuyE9R.png https://i.imgur.com/fn5diJb.png https://i.imgur.com/TMwY4T0.png --- New Trivia: Why did the Henshin sequence for Rampage Vulcan change later on in Zero-One? --- Also! The LP is gonna be going on a small hiatus here, as a really close friend of mine is coming down to visit next week, and I wanna focus on spending time with him. I also wanna catch up a little bit on another video project that I've been doing. So yeah, there won't be any more parts for another week or two. In the meantime, feel free to continue to discuss stuff in the LP, general things about W, OOO, Zero-One, or, heck, Kamen Rider in general! Also also! Would you guys be down for participating in activities outside of trivia questions? I have a few ideas but I wanna know if you guys would cool with like, solving puzzles or doing guessing games and stuff like that. And thanks again for being a part of this, I really appreciate it! |
The answer to the question is the actor suggested changing the pose to combine all of his previous ones.
And yes, I would be down for more stuff. |
I'd be interested in seeing more stuff tbh
I do like how despite them having to create like themed levels, we do get some cool locales. Like at the start here we basically enter the classic storm drain location that Toei would film at often. Random note, I am getting closer on finishing the Zero-One MV I mentioned, I'm about 3 minutes deep out of 4. So almost done! |

What would be ridiculous is Accel Full Throttle Mode with an infinite RP accelerator! I'm not going to use that though, cause I want to keep it a challenge. Quote:
But yeah, the level design in this game can get really good and this is an example of that. |
Quote:
By utilizing the power of the only editing software I have (Windows Live Movie Maker from Windows 7) I bring you this MV. Of course there are quirks like subtitles being presented because really I can only utilize MP4 files via the program. And MP4 files are hard subbed usually, plus raw's and soft subbed stuff I find are in mkv. So subtitles are a thing that I just have to put up with. I do try to use that to my advantage in some cases. And of course, spoiler warning in regards to well, Zero-One the Series and RealXTime because RealXTime fits the ending of the MV I was going for better than what we got for the last four episodes of Zero-One. http://vimeo.com/547185499 |

Quote:
By the way, if you want something that can convert MKV files, look up HandBrake. It's what I use when slipping the Henshin clips into the LP. |
I'd totally be down to gush about kamen rider or this game
