Oh... oh my god. That's INSANE
|
By the way, this might escape a lot of people here in how significant it is because it's not terribly well known... but that advert is actually kind of huge. The guy in it holding and displaying SHF Tiga? That's Hiroshi Nagano -- aka the actor of Daigo Madoka, Tiga himself! And it's the first time he's been involved in anything to do with Tiga since its movie in 2000!
This isn't because he grew a dislike for it or had a grudge with Tsupro or anything - quite the opposite; he's spoken positively about his time on Tiga constantly in interviews since. But the acting agency he works with is notoriously strict about what its actors can and can't do and have had many infamous behaviour over the years; with only a very recent change in management toning that down a little. The tldr of what's relevant here is that Hiroshi Nagano is also a high-profile actor and musician, and that while he'd like to do so; him returning to Ultraman in any form is extremely unlikely and the sort of thing that would headline mainstream news. And sure enough, this advert for a niche collector's item has gotten an article in Oricon News. https://www.oricon.co.jp/news/218623...&ref_cd=tw_pic Big deal is all I'm saying! Very, very big deal! |

Seeing the additional pictures only make this figure look even better, I've never expected soft parts to be used in a figure like this, then again, I don't own any figuarts or seen any other examples of this.
And seeing people mention Daigo's actor in the ad is only making me love this even more. When Mill Creek releases Tiga, I am absolutely buying it to see this series completely. |

Seriously making the torso out of soft materials is genius. I wonder if the R&D for that Goku figure not too long ago came in handy. |

Everyone needs a place to start and getting introduced via merchandise isn't a bad thing at all, in fact it can be a great motivator! Ultraman is also very good and available to watch in the west so you could just try watching it a bit. |

AmiAmi sold out in like 3 minutes before I could even collect... but thankfully I was able to secure a pre-order on HLJ. Oh boy that was a stressful half hour or so; but I'm glad to have finally gotten a secure order on one of my favourites
|
Pre-Orders are the WORST- I ALWAYS lose out, AmiAmi’s straight LAME AF SERVER CANNOT DO SH* T for me ever. F*ck that place. I freaking HATE this preorders garbage with a damn PASSION!!!!Done with ever trying to preorder again, this hobby is NOT worth the headache of watching and waiting for NOTHING at 3:00AM
|
Got my Tiga in relatively smooth fashion as seems to be the case for me commonly.

I don't feel bad about missing out, I wasn't that interested in Tiga to begin with. |

There's also Nin-nin and Okini land, tho I'm not quite sure what are the thoughts for them around here and if they already sold out or still about to open.

Nippon-yasan hasn't put up orders for Tiga yet, so there's still hope there.

Do we know what hands he's coming with by the way? The descriptions notes a whopping 5 extra pairs of hands, plus a 6th left hand (or right hand i can't remember); but all the pictures I've seen so far have only used fists, chop/ray and 'clawed' variants.
I'm not saying I desperately hope he comes with a thumbs up hand to go with Kuuga or anything because I know that won't happen, but I'd really like to see all his hand options! |

This has been a really weird release, one of the weirdest even for Shinkocchou Seihou standards I've experienced. It sold out faster than just about any retail release on AmiAmi and HLJ is just a total crapshoot of whether you can find it on their site in time for it to be available at the best of times. But a lot of the other sites so far just don't seem to have even made pre-orders live yet.
I signed up for alerts on Nin-Nin-Game and Okini Land before release, and neither one has sent out alerts or opened up the orders. Nippon-Yasan, regardless of how they've been with shipping orders lately, hasn't even put Tiga up. So what gives, I wonder? Is this the PS5 of Figuarts? |

It's also the first ever Seihou Ultraman release, so there is that. Add in the heavy marketing campaign just beforehand and all the advances such as soft parts etc...
Still a bit unusual mind, but there's something there. |

That's what I mean, though; you'd think stock would be WAY more plentiful because of his popularity. It's not just a case of it selling out quickly, which I expected. It just plain wasn't readily available at a lot of the usual places.
I'm hoping it'll be more like the likes of Den-O and OOO when it comes to actual retail, in that the pre-orders sold out quickly and that store fronts actually receive plenty of stock instead. It might make the aftermarket price a little more reasonable than the likes of Kuuga and W. EDIT: And now Nin-Nin-Game have put the pre-orders up for a modest and fair ¥11,490. Never change, N2G. |
