Stonebot Studios licenses Kamen Rider Kuuga manga, plans Zero-One graphic novels
|
Can't wait for them to finally finish off Yaiba and also kill Gai in an off-shoot comic.

I'll go ahead and say it: who the hell is Stonebot Studios? I was at a comics shop earlier this afternoon and didn't see an imprint by Stonebot, but I can't say I was looking hard either.
Despite all that, this is a definite step in the right direction. Rider still has a weak presence in the West and needs a boost. The notion of ORIGINAL content also changes the dynamic to an unexpected degree. I've often wondered if someone would license Rider like Marvel licensed Ultraman, and this might be what I was thinking of. Between this and the upcoming series release, most people who aren't familiar with Rider might view Zero-One as the most important and central series; the "face" of Western Distribution! |
Man it stuff like this that makes me wish I was a bigger fan of Zero-One. I will still pick it up though.

I'm game for a Kuuga manga, though not sure how I feel about Inoue writing it.
I'm really curious about the Zero-One comic because it sounds like it's going to be American writers taking on the property and writing their own take. So is it going to feature the same characters, premise, stories or diverge at a certain point? Will this actually be set in the continuity of Zero-One? Will it be like Marvel's Ultraman comic? I'm assuming the one-shot specials might focus on the other other three Riders. |
A Kuuga manga will be fun. I just hope that they finish it. If Zero-One has american writers, I hope they don't include politic based stories, it'll ruin everything like how bad marvel and dc comics are doing.

I just did some digging on it, and that Kuuga manga sounds straight up hideous. Inoue unchecked can be just a disaster of a writer.
I'd also much rather see the mountains of content come here to the States instead of getting new content made for us. Especially since it's unlikely any of this will be considered canon to the original show. |
As someone who checked out scanlations of the first few chapters of the Kuuga manga... yeah, I'm not exactly a fan of it.
But hey, more Rider merch being brought over is always good, atleast. |

https://i.imgur.com/zsa0lZ1.jpg The whole allergy against "politics" in their medium that comic readers have going on right now is pathetic. Comics always dealt with social and political issues, and some of these mediums like Watchmen are now celebrated as classics. But today, today it is done "wrong" of course. Bullshit, it's just dealing with themes these people are unable or unwilling to be confronted with, since they throw a screaming fit whenever a queer character dares to exist or god forbid, racism is addressed. |
Did not need to see the Kuuga manga translated! These decisions continue to baffle me, especially when the manga for Black and W are right there with their adaptions right around the corner.
New, original fiction made outside of Japan for a pre-existing series however... that's interesting. Not a 01 fan but that does set a fun precedent |
