Power Rangers Dino Fury Episode 1- "Destination Dinohenge" Discussion
A new chapter in Power Rangers history begins!
Go-getting reporter Amelia accompanies Ollie and his mom, Dr. Akana, to investigate the mysterious Dinohenge statues. The run into an evil warrior named Void Knight and a threat that puts the entire world in danger. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2t2IdY1N5GM |
Hengemen...
Hengemen...... Henchmen... You know I'm sure we were meant to get more out of this preview clip than that but this pun is hitting me too hard. |
Hmmm. I Like what i see so far. I Hope the past Dino Teams get name dropped.

- Why did Ninjor, a self-described intergalactic ninja master, make Power Coins based on Dinosaurs? - Is there a relation between Dino Gems and Energems? Before Dino Charge was understood to be its own dimension, there were some who thought Sledge was an idiot for not realizing that his collection of asteroids potentially contained Dino Gems. - How will Dino Fury also relate to the Power Coins, Dino Gems, and the extinction of the Dinosaurs (in the Prime Dimension)? |
One glaring thing I've noticed in all of the promos that use original footage - the lighting looks really dark? I'm sure it's an aesthetic choice but so far it's not looking good visually.
Otherwise, this seems promising. I'm really excited for tomorrow! |
I'm liking this so far. You can't know everything from this short scene, but this is promising. Here's hoping it keeps being good.

I mean, puns are like my second language! How did I miss that!? |

I'm not expecting too much, since it seems like it's a repeat of Beast Morphers 1st ep. Though from watching the preview, Void Knight doesn't seem to be from the usual NZ VO, as he sounds unique. Maybe the actor is from America and he'll get a human form maybe.
|
Void Knight already did more in this clip then Gaisorg did the 1st half of Ryusoulger. So glad I got back into PR for Dino Fury. Just wish those Damn Dino Fury Action Figures and Zords will show up already.
|
Make or break moment...... Although I'll reserve judgement until the 4th episode or something because Beast Morphers impressed me until the third episode.
|
Still maintaining my beliefs that Dino Fury should’ve been saved for the 30th anniversary and we should’ve gotten Kyuranger first.
|
First commercial break, and we're already slightly better with...lip gloss and ghost catching! That may not sound precisely promising, but it kind of works when you hear the opening dialogue. Color palette still looks like Beast Morphers.
P.S.: WHY IS THAT MISERABLE CREATURE KNOWN AS SABAN STILL CREDITED!!!??? |
Second commercial break. I like Void Knight and the way we're introduced to the Hengemen grunts comes across as one of the single most interesting ways in which grunts are introduced in the franchise in my opinion!
|
Sorry Hasbro, you missed out big time by not adapting Kyuranger first.
|
That backstory with Zayto was actually interesting and honestly helped nudge the franchise in the right direction. Suggesting what they did with the Morphin' Masters was just too damn good and I love those designs. There's something interesting here and I hope for more of the same later.
P.S.: WHY IS THAT MISERABLE CREATURE KNOWN AS SABAN STILL CREDITED!!!??? |
I Hope the Morphin Masters get toys. Love the part. (If you watch the news Zords.) Best season in Years. I Loved everything about it. I can't wait for episode 2. But in the flash back. No Zordon or Ninjor. Hmmmmm? May be in upcoming episodes Zordon will be name dropped the same for the past 3 Dino teams.
|
Pretty solid first episode, not much else to say really.
|
That was really good. The dialogue felt more punched up along with the characters. As much as I like the Beast Morphers cast, Amelia and Ollie instantly have a tangible dynamic. Zayto is also instantly struck by grief when he finds out it's been millions of years. It was just a well paced first episode. It doesn't mean it will be the best thing ever, but there is clear directional changes here.
Also, was there a Dino Charge musical que? I swore I heard it when Dr.Akane was using the drone. |

Wow, the producer wasn't kidding around about this season being different to most of the last decade. This premiere already feels a lot more classy and mature to appeal to a larger audience.
It'll be interesting to see how Zayto functions as an older (even compared to his 209 year-old Sentai counterpart) and wiser leader since he has a lot more experience that the average Red Ranger. He's also a knight just like I've been saying to all the skeptics who thought knights would be irrelevant. Well here he is! I want to see how his own brand of chivalry brings the team together. Solon seems like a humorous and unique mentor, although I expect she'll share some of that role with Zayto and [spoiler character] from [spoiler show]. Ollie is smart but could probably open his mind a little more. It looks like he's more of a facts and statistics kind of guy, only considering things that are proven. That's good for objectivity but too much leads to a stagnant way of thinking. At least he believes in Power Rangers, so that's something I guess. Amelia is much more intuitive though and considering how she created that zapper net gun and psychokinetic energy tracker, she's definitely in competion with Ollie for the "smart one" role. She has strong faith and knows how to convince people to let her follow her instincts. 1000000x better than that carrot-munching Zoey. I immediately like the first 3 out of 5 core rangers, which is something I haven't been able to say since Samurai. Warden Buzzkill's (hahaha!) actual surname is Garcia, so he's probably the adoptive father of the other 2. I'm not fond of the OP and its repetitive lyrics but the insert music during the fight scene was pretty cool and mystical. I like how Void Knight and the Hengemen are explained as being separate from the Sporix. Since in Ryusoulger, the Ryusoul Tribe and Druidon were separate from Kleon and the Minusaurs. Morphin' Masters?! Wasn't expecting them to show up in Zayto's flashback. There's so much depth to the lore here! Already looking forward to the next episode and how the rest of team will come together. This is a very good and promising start. |
I need to see a few more episodes before I can make a ruling on if it’s good or not, but so far so good.
|
So, hypothetically speaking, if someone didn't have normal TV, what would be the most legal way someone could watch this episode? Is there some Hasbro or Nickelodeon YouTube channel or something?

I really like the continuity, with how everyone (including Ollie, the rational, logical scientist) just treats Power Rangers as an undeniable part of reality. Ollie immediately recognizing their transformations as Power Rangers and matter-of-fact saying that they'll be getting Zords as part of their Ranger arsenal. Not to mention how the original Dino Fury team received their powers straight from the Morphin' Masters. It's much appreciated to have these short nods to the legacy.
Amelia and Ollie had a great dynamic from what we've seen. I can already tell that it'll be fun to see them (along with Zayto, as well as Izzy and Javi when they join up) working together as a team of heroes. Overall, I liked this episode. Not revolutionary, but we are off to a good start. Still room for things to go downhill in a few episodes, but equal room for this to turn out better than Beast Morphers, and much better than anything in the Neo-Saban era was. And lastly... was it just me, or did anyone else mishear "Sporix" as "sporks" at first? "Sporks? They're sporks! That's the energy I detected!" |
If the Morphin Masters can show up then all so Lord Drakkon. I Hope for that.

As much as I love the depiction of the Morphin' Masters, it does come across as questionable to forcibly turn living dinosaurs into statues and have their spirits fuel a new Ranger team.
They name-dropped the Morphin' Masters first in MMPR during "Big Sisters" when they supposedly hid a great energy in the Power Eggs, only for that plotline to be quickly ignored. We're the Eggs actually dinosaur eggs, like in Zyuranger? Also, empowering knights directly complicates the existence and reason for the Power Coins and Dino Gems. Did Ninjor have to intervene when many of the Knights were lost? Did the dino-killing asteroid strike the Earth randomly or did someone force an impact and inadvertently set the scene for Dino Thunder? I also find it odd that the Masters refer to the team as Dino Fury. This suggests that even 65 million years ago, Rangers might have existed long before the fight between Rafkon and the Sporix. Another take would be that the Masters can see the past and future, and possibly appear at any point in time. This implies that they've always been around and knew that the Dino Fury team would be revitalized in the modern age. If so, why haven't they intervened beforehand? Is it possible that they're always active behind the scenes, we just haven't heard or seen anything? I know. I'm rambling as much as I'm speculating. |

I do like the “Wing Force” though. Gonna have to Google these. |
I don't know what to think about Dino Fury, it's cool that we have kind of in a way finally got a more direct counterpart to the Zyurangers in a weird way in that the red ranger was frozen in time and so on(lol) and it was nice to have them know about Power Rangers already because it just saves time but is BuzzFeed really so relevant that it needs some kind of spoof thing, also I don't mean to be harsh but I find the general appearance of the initial 3 a bit strange to look at plus I would have thought they would have got green and black in a bit sooner if that was a big draw.

Haven't watch PR in years since MMPR, but I already Love Dino Fury way more then I did MMPR all those years ago. The Knight Theme, Swords, Armor, and Zords are right up my alley. My only Con is where are the Damn Action Figures and Zords so I can buy them already.
|
In all fairness, I am probably not the best person to defend MMPR :lol It's far from the worst but too overrated for my personal taste!

Anyway! Saw the first ep, and I thought it was certainly an interesting way to start things off. Likely won't be watching any more for a long time since I prefer binging nowadays, but yeah, it'll definitely be an experience seeing how Hasbro does a season fully under their own control, I think. |

Plus I'm a Mecha Fan first and foremost. If I don't like the Zords I'm not really interested. Dino Fury has the most versatile Zords ever made for Power Rangers. I'm buying everyone as soon as I can find them. Dino Fury is just more appealing to casual PR fans like me in my opinion |
