This should probably be obvious, but the Donbrothers (sans Doragoku, but he different anyway) have D-pads (like on a Wiimote or other console controllers) on their suits. How did I not figure that out?
|
This was subtle but incredibly clever once you realize it.
Build's RoseCopter Form's blade is clearly meant to evoke a helicopter's rotor, but the angle it's in actually matches the helicopter part of the suit, meaning that the 'rotor' is actually in-line with the helicopter! https://i.imgur.com/N8elBev.jpg EDIT: Also subtle but incredibly clever thing I noticed, but Geats Magnum's chest is just a gun cylinder. The black circular decorations are bullets and you can see the cylinder's ridges on there too. Clever. Incredibly clever. I have no idea if the shoulders are meant to be evoke a gun's grip or whatever, but the chest was too clever to ignore. https://i.imgur.com/ikMvS2L.jpg |

It's a nice bit of design work, just like how the Rampage Gatling Progrise Key is based on the bolt of an automatic rifle. |
Episode 14 of Gotchard and 40 of Kingohger both involve red t-rexes.

Speaking of which... Have there ever been non-red tyrannosaurs in Sentai? |

The Tyrannosaurus from Abaranger was also green for a time, and this was used to pad the Dino Thunder toyline back in the day. Gabutrya also received a dark redeco in the crossover between Kyoryuger and Go-Busters. Stacey used a dark ZyuraGaon redeco in Zenkaiger. Dinomaru from the Ninninger Movie is predominantly orange. |

This has probably already been written about, but Gotchard's white scarf depicts steam coming from the fire on his chest.

Just noticed this detail, and it's these kind of touches that I absolutely adore.
Valavrad's left eye is actually the screw used to adjust the jaw of a wrench. It's actually incredily obvious, but I always saw it as a stylised eye because of the way it was shaped. https://i.imgur.com/mMTVkcP.png Quote:

You know how Cross-ZBuild has a DNA strand as part of its finisher, right? I realized that Build’s entire suit structure could be based on a DNA strand. As my example, I’ll use RoseCopter
https://i.imgur.com/N8elBev.jpg See how the helicopter portion goes from right to left before going back to right (and Vice versa for the rose portion) |

It just happened that I was already looking at RoseCopter lol
If you can’t see the double helix, draw a line through the eye, into the torso, and through the leg for both Rose and Helicopter |
Just realized Boonboomger's opening theme will be Masaaki Endoh's newest sentai opening theme since Abaranger, which was 21 years ago. Both shows start with the kanji baku(爆).

The monster of the week in Boonboomger, are the kurumajyu. Kurumajyu is a portmanteau of Kurushii (Japanese for painful), Kuruma (Japanese for car), and Majyu (Japanese for demon beast).
|
If you're following along with Kamen Rider Die's latest watch thread you can probably guess where this came from.
Koichi Sakamato's two favorite things are both forms of bipedal locomotion: motorcycles and women's legs. |
Kamen Rider Kuuga had at least 4 cast members who were or went on to be rangers. For starters, we had two yellow rangers, Ninja Yellow and Mega Yellow, one black ranger, Gao Black, and one silver ranger, Deka Bright.
|
There are three hubcaps in the Boonboomger base. The red hubcap says TURBO and has the air date for episode 1 of Turboranger, the blue one says GO-ON and likewise has the episode 1 air date for Go-Onger, and the yellow one says CARRAN and has Carranger's episode 1 air date.
|
Gotchard's villains are the three Dark Sisters.
https://blogger.googleusercontent.co...rd-Sisters.jpg And the antagonists of the first Sukeban Deka show are the three Mizuchi sisters: https://i.ibb.co/MgzQJgh/Mizuchi-s-sisters.png |
And since I mentioned Sukeban Deka: in the finale of episode 20, father and daughter set off on a Soviet ship to USA. But the ship is called “Felix Dzerzhinsky” in honor of the founder of the Soviet special services, and therefore it seems to me that they will land somewhere in the wrong place.

In Chou Super Hero Taisen, out of all the pink rangers, Urataros flirts with ToQ 5gou because both Den-O and the ToQgers are about trains. Probably, someone realized this right away while watching, but it literally dawned on me only today by accident.

Despite having a long history in the film business, China doesn't have a signature Kaiju representative:
And before anyone says it, no I don't count Infra-Man because he's a Hero character and not the titular Kaiju. |

Well I didn't catch this before due to how vibrant the yellow is, but there's actually a lightning bolt on Kamen Rider Build OctopusLight.
It's a bit easier to see in the promotional image. In hindsight, the tip of the bolt sticking out should've tipped me off. https://i.imgur.com/TsRjsr8.png https://i.imgur.com/AP41qra.jpeg |

Seen Kamen Rider World more than once, including a re-watch a few minutes before this posting (I'm aware that this could be construed as a cheat and I am intending to get the Media Blaster set), and something finally clicked for me: Despite ZO's inclusion, there isn't a single thing which technically links ZO to the special! Shadow Moon and his revived Kaijin link to Black, RX, Shin, and J. No ZO Kaijin are included. His appearance is mainly because he's a recent Rider innovation and because they were trying to set-up J and ZO as the new "Double Riders" (a phrase Shadow Moon utters in World to refer to them both collectively).

Movie or TV show title references in Boonboomger so far:
Waruido Spindo: The Fast and the Furious movies, which is called Wild Speed in Japan Madrex: The Mad Max movies Cannonborg: The Cannonball Run Raita Naito and Naito Tech: Knight Rider and Knight Industries |
Not a difficult realization to come to, but Lost Galaxy is the Power Rangers equivalent of Starship Troopers!
The troops of Terra Venture use the EXACT SAME suits as the ones used in the live-action SST Movie. Scorpius and the Stingwingers and Trakeena are all insect-themed, but the theory is that this was to mesh with the fact that the early Balban Majin under Sanbash are insect-themed (and because virtually every Balban suit was being used for Gingaman VS. Megaranger, leaving the Lost Galaxy crew to find some workarounds). It isn't long before the parallels fade away and it becomes less and less obvious, but it's pretty clear that someone recognized the potential early on and at least tried to run with it. Don't know if that's a good thing or not, but it is what it is. |

I have yet to watch Gingaman for comparison, but I rewatched Lost Galaxy a few months ago and I must appreciate the ambition of this show. I feel like Cosmic Fury tried to bring this concept to the modern audience, but it was sadly restricted by the 10 episode limit while Lost Galaxy had 45 episodes to tell an exciting space exploration story.
