Kamen Rider Saber/Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger Crossover & Hiatus
On July 18 the SuperHeroTime block will air a special 1-hour episode titled "Movie Release Commemoration: Combined Special!" This will apparently be a teamup between Super Sentai & Kamen Rider to promote Super Hero Senki.
Once this airs, there will be no new episodes of the SuperHeroTime programming blocks for three weeks due to Olympics coverage. |
Three weeks of no Zenkaiger?? That's the most cruel thing Toei has ever done :lol
|
Oh hey we're getting one of those again?! Sweet!
So if nothing happens to further stop new episodes of Saber, then we'll probably be ending at 46 Episodes if I did my math right? |
Why? There are lots of Japanese dying in hospitals and homes due to COVID-19 Pandemic! 86% of the Japanese people want the 2020 (2021) Tokyo Olympic Games cancelled due to COVID-19, but Toei and TV Asahi has no choice but to interrupt the Super Hero Time schedule to give way for the Olympics. Before, when there's Olympic Games during the Showa Era and the Heisei Era, there were almost no interruptions while they aired the special coverage of the said international sporting event. Now, during the Reiwa Era, things have changed! So, Kamen Rider Saber will be ending up in a cliffhanger, just like Kamen Rider Zero-One last year whereas Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger, I think the number of episodes will become lesser than Mashin Sentai Kiramager (45 Episodes) and it too, will end up in a cliffhanger. What's wrong, Toei and TV Asahi? Are you gonna ruin the anniversaries of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai due to COVID-19 Pandemic and the Tokyo Olympics? Now, the televiewers are so dismayed of this news!

I've got a feeling it's every other country that wants the Olympics, so Japan has no choice, I'm guessing.
Either way, I don't think Zenkaiger or Saber will end early because of this, since Decade being a shorter season didn't stop W from airing immediately afterwards. So I think both shows are going to be fine. |

And that really goes to show what decides these things -- toyline debuts. As the olympics is a thing completely out of their control like Covid last year, it's just gonna be the case that they'll have less episodes rather than shifting Revice's (and Sentai 46's) toyline debut a month later for no reason. |
Not to mention at the very least, unlike Covid, they were probably made aware ahead of time the likely cut amount of episodes and how many they'd have left.
So they were likely able to prepare compared to Zero-One which was a real big gamble. |
The thing you have to realize is that canceling something as major as the Olympics is not as simple as waving a magic wand. For one, It's not up to Japan, it's up to the IOC to make that decision and It'd be a huge loss to cancel it, as a lot of investors and sponsors would not be happy as they sunk a lot of funds to make it happen. Even though the people say it should be cancelled, the people organizing it have no choice but to go through with it.
Just be happy it's not 5-6 weeks like it was last year and is only 3. |
Dammit, I thought Toei learned to stop doing this stupid "Spring Vacation Gattai Special" nonsense!
They should have just done a cameo crossover like Zyuohger/Ghost and Kyuranger/EX-Aid as a B plot the the episodes' A plots. I didn't want to have to wait a whole fortnight to see Deadheat Burst Mach and I don't want to have to wait 5 weeks to see whatever awesome thing is going to happen in Saber Episode 44. They don't need to take over the SHT block for a whole hour to promote their movie and doing it before an Olympics hiatus is the worst timing! At least last year, we got the Kiramager Episode 1 and 2 Director's Cut as a consolation and that 5 week hiatus wasn't even something they could control. Now Toei are deliberately making the fans wait longer than we have to and that really ticks me off. In the words of Geartlinger's VA, "What an utter disappointment." :( |
Not only that. Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger would lose 5 weeks (3 for the 2020 (2021) Tokyo Olympic Games Special Coverage-only if it will continue and not cancelling it, 1 for the "New Normal" marathon on the 1st week of November this year and another 1 for the 2021 year-end special on the 1st week of January 2022) and it would probably ended up in a cliffhanger, Kamen Rider Saber would probably have 46 Episodes and could probably also ended up in a cliffhanger or an unfinished story and the upcoming Kamen Rider Rider Revice would have its hiatus for the marathon on the 1st week of November and for the 2021 year-end special on the first week of January 2022. Toei and TV Asahi will never be the same again when it comes to schedule problems! The anniversaries are already ruined, unlike 10 years ago! Curse you, COVID-19 Pandemic!

That's a bummer. No Zenkaiger for a month is gonna sting.
