Why did he disappear after defeating the ultra-demon 120 years ago? And who was/is he? Is he Houtarou's dad, like what I've hypothesized since episode 25? Houtarou's dad might be the Alchemist of Dawn who's been faking his own existence. Or could he be the main villain who's been secretly manipulating Glion (and Fuga/Houtarou as well)? I still believe that Houtarou's dad has/had a very crucial role in the story. So far, Houtarou's dad is the most elusive character in this story, so the writers better be careful on his reveal. It's the main dish that could make or break the whole experience.
If it's a main dish, then hopefully the father has more consistent success in the culinary arts than the son.
I mean, maybe he really is just an adventurer as Tamami claims and he has nothing to do with the conflict at all, but I agree it would be intriguing to see how he might fit in the story, considering how the show keeps obscuring his face. However, I'm not sure if the Alchemist of Dawn actually defeated Hermes (the ultra-demon), maybe his creation of the 101 Chemies led him to discover Ouroboros World and resident god Hermes, which led to the practice of erasing memories, to prevent anybody like Geryon from unleashing that dangerous power on humanity.

I've been wondering what the dude's motivations are for a while now and I was not prepared for how dumb they were. Probably shouldn't have expected more from a guy who needed all the squares on his Rubik's Cube to be the same color.
It's stupid for sure, but I appreciate the simplicity and irony in how it takes the pursuit of classical alchemy to the extreme. The value of gold is based on its rarity, as it can be sold for money which can be used to purchase a lot of cool stuff. Gold is a means to an end, but for Geryon, it's the end. A world and population made entirely of gold would actually be totally worthless, but he doesn't even care. The engoldened Rubik's Cube is a perfect example of this, as a puzzle cube with the puzzle taken out of it. Houtarou and Geryon are both big dreamers, but while the former's dream is in pursuit of expansion/duality, Geryon's is in pursuit of compression/singularity. He's clearly a deranged man. The only way this could be more ironic is if Hermes turned
him
in to gold instead.

Thanks, Rinne.
Rinne could easily be talking about any Heisei Phase 2 or Reiwa Rider show.

Although it would be much easier to make your own and fight with your own Malgams, it is obvious that for Geryon?s type this would be unbearably boring. Also for this reason, he is doomed to lose, because one of the main ideas of the show is: ?What is important is what you get through your own labor.? I also liked that there was something for everyone to do, although Kyoko and Lachesis could have taken more active roles.
I was pleasantly surprised how Geryon finally explained why he specifically wanted Houtarou's original GotcharDriver, after I called him out about that in the previous episode. I doubt he could've just advanced the GotcharDriver by using it himself though, as Gotchard's power comes from the synchronization between the user and Chemies, while Geryon can only subjugate. Spanner mostly only synchronizes with Machwheel due to his "only those willing to walk my path can follow" philosophy and while Rinne shares Houtarou's value of friendship towards Chemies, Houtarou has been a Rider for much longer, befriended many more Chemies and he's the only one of the main 3 to create his own power-up through alchemy.

One was transformed by Hotaro through suffering and exceeding his capabilities, the other by the trust and support of other Chemies. This once again emphasizes the duality of power of our main rider, shown back in the first episode at the verification stage.
Nice observation! Iron Gotchard represents Houtarou's strength of body and will, while Platina Gotchard further represents Houtarou's strength of heart and bond with Chemies. Also reminds me of how he passed the entry exam by asking Kamantis and Odorippa to change their diet and now we see how that unconventional method is actually invaluable here to prevent the AU-pocalypse (see what I did there?). Houtarou may not talk in a smart way, rather as a scatterbrained nerd, but I believe he's actually a genius. Those who believe in him, like Minato, are led to victory. Those who underestimate, like Geryon, are led to ruin.
