There might be a realistic reason for it, though this is just a hypothesis.
Remember how all seasons, even the Disney Era, had a modern "Saban Brands" style ending attached to them? I feel as though that might have significance. The deal with Netflix was originally a Saban-induced deal to begin with, with all seasons attributed to Saban. Since that is most definitely no longer the case, then it's reasonable to assume that the license was allowed to naturally expire. With the expiration of the original Saban license, and the fact that all of them had the "Saban Brands" accreditation attached, one could assume that a new deal would have to be worked out, and for one reason or another, that deal has yet to actually materialize. It's entirely possible that a technical/legal conundrum that we don't know about came into play regarding that accreditation issue. It's also possible that Netflix shareholders aren't in any hurry to renew such a deal either, for one unmentioned reason or another. The YT uploads may be a temporary solution in the long term, or Hasbro feels that freebies are the best option at this point, which makes the Netflix deal regarding "War For Cybertron" Transformers all the more complexing. Eventually, they will find a proper home other than YT, but not in the short term. I'm also not ruling out the possibility that another streamer, say Hulu for instance, may make Hasbro a better deal regarding the seasons. On some level, I both dislike and don't mind the matter. I found Netflix picture quality to be somewhat lacking. Regarding this matter, there is still physical media available, as I've seen the Mighty Morphin' Set at Walmart recently. It's about $40 and includes all the specials as with the previous SHOUT! Sets. No indication of any other season getting the love though. |
