Daiji has revived his inner demon to restore his spirit, but will that be enough to stop Giff?

Rather than making a mainstream opinion about this episode, I wan to share some appreciation post about Daiji:
1. First of all, I like that despite both Daiji and Kagero understood each other last episode, it doesn't mean they suddenly become best buds like Ikki and Vice. I love the fact that Daiji and Kagero are still on each other's throat and the way Ishida directed the constant clash between Daiji and Kagero was splendid. These two are like Tom and Jerry in a way that they obviously doesn't like each other but deep down they know they need their other pairing to work the best. It's not Tom without Jerry and it's not Daiji without Kagero. It's black and white with no distinct gray area but that might be our true nature as a human. 2. I LOVE the usage of Live and Evil in this episode. Despite them clearly having an advantage as Evilitylive, I appreciate either Kinoshita or Ishida managed to slip some good showcases of Live and Evil. It's been ages since we last saw both Evil and Live's suit and it's refreshing to see them back as much as seeing a Rising Hopper and Brave Dragon back in the last two shows. They even brought back Live Jackal Form, what is not to love in this episode!? If only they also bring back Revi and Vice Rex Genome then this episode would be perfect. Shame that we also can't get Evil Jackal because the helmet was caniballized for the Live version. 3. You know it's kinda hard to work as the person who types the credit of all the cast with their Rider forms, especially in this year. Now since they brought back Kagero, I think it gave some headache to that credit typesetter because not only they need to credit Hyuga Wataru as Daiji and Kagero in a very minimal space, they also need to credit their Rider forms. But it's obviously impossible to credit bot Live and Evil in such small space. I could imagine they just 'Well since we don't have space just credit them as Evilitylive. It will satisfy both Hyuga and the fans'. I don't know but Revice has been a funny mess in this cast credits. Sometimes they need to address both Ikki and Vice as Kamen Rider Revice during Thunder Gale era before splitting their Rider name back after Giffard Rex. I could also see them contemplate and have some frustration whether to credit Hiromi as Demons or not in the last episode. Knowing all of this cast credits headache, I now understand why they not even bother credit 'Mirage Mirror' last week. 4. Lastly I appreciate they gave more wardrobe for Daiji in this episode. I might miss his Fenix uniform but it's also refreshing to see Daiji in casual clothes. I think the last time Hyuga wore a non-uniform clothes during the recap ep in 29, CMIIW. So it's a nice touch to see Daiji ina brand new fashion. I think it also made a good symbolism of Daiji now being free from Fenix's and by extension Gifu and Akaishi's machination. Fenix or not, it shows that Daiji is now firmly on our good and hero's side. If that doesn't show you how much I love Daiji then I don't what will work. Daiji could be one of the best underrated character by the end of the series. I love that in recent years the Secondary Riders were clear and distinct but not so overpowering that they completely overshadow other characters. Rintaro was also my best underrated character and my best boi in Saber. Now I can't wait to see how the next Secondary Rider will receive the torch from Daiji.

Not much can be drawn so far in this episode, seems to be transitional.
For the beginning, I like on how the crimes done by the Deadmans are taken more seriously, in how others immediately arrest Orteca (golden chance of him without powers or connection currently), as well as Aguilera acknowledging that she's (and Tamaki) someone need to be punished for that, but waiting after their battle is over. Still watching in anxiety for this regarding how Orteca survived and a chance of him to be redeemed instead, but so far Revice doesn't take the crimes made by them lightly, unlike something like Zero-One where Gai gets away scot-free. And after all this time, Tamaki still holds a grudge against him to instantly resort into beating him up the seconds he find him. That'd be the latest display of the furious Furio after so long. After Tamaki's return of display of fury, later the set up seems to be about characters others are protective to, but doesn't want to be like that (and are insisted to stay at Weekend base). Though Tamaki's hella repetitive in this, Hiromi once again seems to be a relatable solution to another character, about how both him and Tamaki are now the non-Riders in the group, Hiromi too was an underdog who got bullied, not only in childhood but also by early George and Chameleon Deadman in Fenix at the beginning, his failures aside, as well as being once the weakest recruit, but Hiromi did become the top graduate and later got his Commander position back, so perhaps he's the one that can make Tamaki feel useful as a non-Rider. Other than that, yeah, of course a nicer Aguilera would directly tell him that they'd want him safe, rather than acting bitchy to drive him away like ep. 23. Sakura should take notice of at least her becoming more honest to her feelings. Then there's Lovekov who Sakura keeps in the base or at safe place especially after noticing her injuries, and it seems that Lovekov had enough of being protected and seems agitated by Sakura giving her similar treatment as the brothers (and Yukimi) gave her earlier, thus she rushes into battle. Luckily for her, Giff wants the Igarashis at his side, so not even the Gifftarians attack her at middle of battlefield, but that still causes a miscommunication in Sakura focusing on protecting her instead of hearing what she wanted to tell. Perhaps the next part would have Sakura, someone who doesn't want to be over-protected (by her family) to learn to not give others that treatment too. After leaving the Happy Spa in good terms with others, George claimed about Vice being weird for a demon as he doesn't feel like one, which he credited to Ikki. Which Vice is another him and representation of his.. vices. Gotta wait for the next ones or the upcoming movie (again, separating...) if there'd be more explanations about how a demon's personality works (seems that Vice changed for the better when Ikki stops being resentful for himself and found better purpose in life?). And the rest are questions about why Vice can be a vessel for Giff, and how Giff freed himself from the sealing before (my guess can be about how Giff can simply make a portal back to the world, which'd mean Ultimate Revi/Vice's portal was useless and shortsighted). Now Giff does have clear upper hand to the heroes, finally, in how their finishers don't work on him. Wasn't Ikki the one who said that? Perhaps they're just desperate at this point. Quote:

Daiji's already firmly on good and hero's side from the beginning until before ep. 37. He's quite the reverse of many secondary Rider developments that he was straight up heroic but became worse person (until ep. 44) later while many secondary Riders are morally questionable but later become better person. And honestly, previously though Fenix is Akaishi's machination, many Fenix members seen are also generally heroic and righteous, with George (+Masumi's demon) as the outlier, someone being good isn't done by leaving/not being a part of Fenix (Chigusa became evil by leaving it), as individual isn't necessarily occupation.

Rintaro is generally unique by the standards of secondary riders. We haven't gotten a more protagonist-friendly #2 rider... since Nigo, I guess. As for Daiji, he is a very interesting rider, but his problem is that he is... secondary. Therefore, he only manages to get screen time when interacting with Ikki, the main story, or selling toys. Well, maybe Revice as a whole is not the most suitable show to watch on a weekly basis.

A very good episode. I love how obscure and threatening Giff is shown in it. Also can't wait to find out what's going on with Lovekov.

I also really liked how Hiromi supported Tamaki. By the way, an interesting thought occurred to me: if the Geats were teasing the return of the past, not a rider, but a character, I would like it to be Hiromi. The guy who was supposed to die in the first episode, but became a rider, and continues to be an important character and audience favorite even without armor, deserves to be Tobei Tachibana of the Reiwa era. Imho, of course.

Decent episode. The Gifu's motivation as villain is boring.....
Some interesting things from this episode are Tamaki's set up as Kamen Rider for the next episode and Kagero as Kamen Rider Evil again. |
