So nice of this anniversary series to create a tribute to Mihara from Faiz. Complete non-entity of a side character that's suddenly made a Rider. Though I will say that considering the lack of fanfare regarding him, I'm wondering, based purely on gut feelings, if Overdemons is either going to be a thing passed around between side-characters, or it's going to be this show's Riotrooper/Rideplayer.
Really weird that they did all those scenes last episode of Vice having this doubt about his and Ikki's relationship, only to here say it was never worth worrying about to begin with... I mean, yes, I agree that Vice had nothing to worry about, but I kinda figure they were possibly building up to something more dramatic with it?? Maybe this isn't the end of that thread but still... If Vice was going to make a heroic comeback, I would have liked a punchier scene, with him like giving some speech while punching Vail in the face or something! With the show piling all the despair on Daiji in particular, I am genuinely curious whether this is going to lead to a stint with him being the villain for a while. And I further wonder if that's going to somehow lead to Kagerou coming back to pull him out of said hypothetical stint, but that's maybe just me missing Evil... |

Tamaki teased as transforming.
However, it's not gonna happen. It's gonna fail and he's just going to continue being the show's butt monkey. Shame. I really like him. Anyway, what's his name became Over-Demons...Just to fly away. I mean, he did technically save the day, but it was so uneventful. Speaking of uneventful, Vice's personal dilemma of who he is and the possibility of being abandoned. It's resolved by a nice little talk with Ikki. While not everything needs to be resolved in a dramatic method, this resolution effectively ended Vice's connection with Vail. So there's that plot thread done, I guess? Now then, the possibility for Kagerou's return and Daiji slipping into despair. Curious where that will go.

Really interesting episode overall.
But....Akashi didn't want to kill Igarashi siblings because Igarashi siblings are related to Gifu despite Vail really wants to kill Igarashi siblings. Well, maybe this is one of plot armor for heroes? I still dislike Over Demons design, but Hikaru's passion as Kamen Rider is really interesting. My assumption abou Gifu's death cause is Gifu killed by Revi and Vice Final Forms in final form debut episode. I personally think Gifu as character is really bad and bland because he currently is never talked. Last edited by Blade Fang; 05-15-2022 at 04:58 AM.. |

In spite of generally feeling like Daiji is the least interesting Rider in this show, lately the show has been going some interesting directions with him. I really like the angle that killing off Kagerou has pushed him to be dangerously righteous without some of his "negative" traits to keep it in check. I could see this going a few ways, from Daiji becoming a villain, to him getting killed, to even just him magically reviving Kagerou somehow. Excited to see this play out.
I guess OverDemons happened too. The Demons Driver really is just the Delta Driver from Faiz, huh?

I really hope Hikaru doesn't remain as Over Demons. He's literally just like... the absolute worst choice for a Rider. Like even Mihara, regardless of how boring he is, is set up as the main Delta user because he's a coward and doesn't want to fight therefore he is immune to the Delta Gear addiction. Hikaru is genuinely a non-character with absolutely no personality, outside of his seeming one-sided infatuation with Sakura, who really shows absolutely no interest in him.

Oh boy, I know a lot might get heated about this episode? Let's go through this calmly and with our heads on straight!
-The livestream is geniunely one of the Director's smartest ideas? After a long string of baffling and even downright silly decisions, it's nice to see he can form a competent plan when he wants to. The "please don't kill the Igrashi siblings since we are family" -Hikaru....Let's be clear, I don't particularly care for him, and I'd wager most of you also don't! But I do respect the attempt to do *something* with him that doesn't involve sitting in Weekend HQ or trailing after Sakura. Geniunely curious if this is a fluke (Genta is returning next week and the conflict seems to be Vail-centric, after all..) or they do plan on buliding upon him if he'll continue to be a Rider. -Oh, Daiji....I'm happy to see that my theories about the loss of Kagerou being part of the cause of Daiji's recent behavior were correct! Dude's so impatient to dish out his own righteous justice that he's actively failing and mucking everything up! Nice to see that confirmed and all, but like.....how's this gonna pan out? He's actively endangering himself and the mission with his reckless behavior, so either something has the change or Daiji's gonna get himself/someone else killed. Interested to see what will happen. -I'd never thought I'd say this in a billion years but like. The Vice segment...might've been the 2nd most engaging part of the episode???? Of course, 90% of me saying this is purely because of the sheer potenial that lies within the conflict between Vail and Vice, and the matter of "a devil's pride", and making him confront the idea of Ikki discarding him someday. To me, it's a far better "last minute emotional dillema for our heroes to confront pre/during endgame" concept than "ooga booga what if we did that one Den-O plot but like, Worse!" I mean, it's been set up well-after all, Daiji has managed to "discard" Kagerou, so who's to say Ikki won't do the same to him? Really hope they don't drop the ball on this idea.
Anyway! Time for a little bet! Concerning that red Driver, I think it's pretty obvious who's it's *actually* for, right? (The driver's design, the presence of a certain red Vistamp that was obtained a while back) So....do you think the suit design is a kitbashed Jeanne, they're going to continue maul Demons to make another suit out of it, or taking elements from a non-Revice suit? (No way in hell they could pop out a wholly original Rider suit this late in the game, right?) |

I don't care too much about Hikaru (I still interchange between calling him his name and Weekend Kid) but wow the hate for him transforming is something I haven't seen in a while. I admittedly thought it was neat and really given the urgency of it all, it just felt like another day of Demons Driver Hot Potato since we're even unsure if he's going to keep using it or not.
I also feel like Tamaki has a shot of becoming Over Demons for a bit purely because I doubt what we see in the next episode is true, with him potentially transforming. Especially with all the signs that this might be a red herring. That being said, given that we can apparently have multiple Demons Drivers, if Fenix's Hellicarrier being destroyed didn't affect production. I could see us getting a Proto Birth and Birth situation out of Demons if they have enough bodysuits. That being said, the way I've seen fan reaction and people in general over these past few weeks... is probably going to sour Hiromi's eventual return to the show if he does return. Cause I'm sorry and hot take but wow is Hiromi probably the most overrated character I've seen in the longest time. Especially for someone who is like a genuinely pretty alright character and nothing standout either. And like, I like the dude but I've seen people go way too overboard with their love for him. |

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way! He isn't a bad character at all and his actor always does an excellent job with the role, but the way some people act about him you'd think he was a some kind of genre-busting main character with loads of focus as opposed to a shoehorned-in tertiary Rider. I can't say I get the obsession in the slightest, but to each their own I suppose!

I'm never super well-informed about general fandom opinions, but I'm under the impression Hiromi's popularity is in part because of how minor he is? I don't think it's ever been about people seeing some immense complexity or importance to his role -- Hiromi's actor just did such a great job bringing a charismatic earnestness to an underdog hero of justice with a particularly sweet Rider suit, and that's literally all anyone needed to fall in love with the guy. The whole reason his role was even as big as it was is because the show's own staff fell in love with him before the fans did, to boot.
I'm not quite as big a Demons fan as some people, but I am a huge Knuckle aficionado, and Zack's surprise popularity in Gaim was a similar enough situation that I can relate completely. Some side characters just end up being a lot of fun to root for, you know?
