It looks like they're going with the manga style versions of the Ranma 1/2 characters looking at Ranma female. I'm still excited for them, but I kind of wish they'd used the art style of the OVA/movies for the figures looks.
The fact that the Sailor Moon Figuarts are based off their animated looks is one of the reasons I jumped on collecting them. I'm more familiar with the anime than the manga. Genma definitely looks more Anime then Manga though. lol Cardcaptor. Good laugh. You're wrong. Last edited by Starscream Gaga; 11-05-2014 at 03:46 AM.. |

It's hard to tell for sure. Male Ranma looks a bit Season One-ish from that angle, but I'd be happy either way. I read the manga more then I do the anime, but I've got no problem with Anime Figuarts.

I'll fight you to the death. Bring it on!
But really, Ranma is the introduction to Anime. It deserves this treatment so very, very much. I remember when I was a little Gaga, watching the Anime with my twin brother and older sister, introducing me to concepts like "shipping" and "fanfic", having my first manga series I collected be the original run of manga... Such memories. The Figuarts are literally a dream come true. More so then Sailor Moon because Sailor Moon gets so, so much exposure. Ranma 1/2 is just a true classic that doesn't get half as much of the attention it deserves, primarily I'd assume because the incoming generation of Anime watchers have sadly never heard of it or are more into Inuyasha (bleh) on Rumiko's side of things. Plus Ranma 1/2's writer doesn't support pedophilia. *coughcardcaptorcough* Last edited by Starscream Gaga; 11-05-2014 at 04:36 AM.. |

I get that your original post was in jest, but drop the pointless arguing with comments like this. It has nothing to do with the figures themselves.

I have to agree on a personal level. I have never seen Ranma 1/2, and I also have no interest in it. I'm sure it is a fine series, but I definitely agree that the Sailor Moon and Sakura Figuarts are better.

Actually? I agree with you. I have no attachment whatsoever to Ranma and while the figures looks fine I don't see anything amazing going on to make me want them if I wasn't already a fan of the show. You look at the Ranma prototypes then look at the Sailor Moon stuff and it's kind of a stark difference. To me at least.

I'm all in on a Cardcaptor Sakura. Both the Figuarts & Figma versions. And I might get both Ranmas. It is a influential series, and nice addition to a collection, even though I too, don't have a full connection to this series.
And I wasn't aware of the pedophilia you mentioned Gaga, in CCS. Did I miss something? |

I'll probably get the Ranmas at some point. Loved the manga when I read it.

You guys all need Manga re-education! Everyone deserves Ranma 1/2 in their lives. Manga or Anime!
The Ranma Figuarts couldn't come out faster for me. I assume they'll be very popular in Japan, so I expect Akane and Ryoga to follow soon! Then Kuno... Then Shampoo (although I hate the character)... As for Sailor Moon compared to Ranma, I'd say any perceived difference is simply from Ranma wearing normal clothes rather then flashy outfits. It's a far cry from the standard Figuarts! In fact, they may be the first ever to wear clothes that could be considered casual in the Figuarts line. Rumiko's signature simple art-style is probably a factor too, I guess. But as someone who's read Ranma their whole lives, I couldn't be happier! I'll buy every single one they release in a heart beat. Well... I was told to drop it, but since you asked I guess there's no harm in explaining my statement as long as it doesn't send the topic off course. It was cut from the anime (in which it was changed to a single-sided schoolgirl crush) but the manga featured a 10 year-old and her adult teacher mutually in love with each other. The writers (CLAMP) have a "love holds no barriers" ideology, including adults in love with young children. I guess if you want more information then Google-Fu it and read more about it and CLAMP's rather dangerous opinion. |

I remember watching Ranma 1/2 as a kid back in the late 90's and I never got into it. The figuarts look nice, but I have no plans on buying them.
