Myself, I have no desire to watch something subpar just because a name or character I like is attached to it. In fact, it just makes things worse because seeing something I enjoy so much being dragged through the mud to make a profit sucks. I don’t waste energy trying to hate on it, but I won’t waste money to support it either. Random Sonic movie fact to make everyone’s life more miserable: The German version of movie Sonic is dubbed by a youtuber who I have a) Never heard of, and b) Is a bigger name with the kids nowadays than Sonic himself apparently. |

I may be willing to go to bat for a lot of the less than quality aspects of Sonic's career, but nothing about any of that movie indicates to me that anyone involved actually cared about it. And no, I do not count "redesigning Sonic after the backlash against the initial version" as caring- that's covering their asses. If they had actually cared they wouldn't have tried to pass that thing off as Sonic in the first place. Quote:
I guess so.

Honestly I can't really blame them. Except for the YouTuber part. That's just irritating.

I know it was nearly ten years ago and I don’t know if any further games were dubbed, but wasn’t Sonic Generations dubbed in French, German, Italian and Spanish? Why not just use those voice actors for the movie?

It's like German mixed with Simlish. I have never read nor heard a language that makes me want to laugh so hard.
Just... it's like they couldn't figure out how many vowels to use and decided to just use all of them in every syllable. It's incredible. That would require a level of consistency SEGA is simply not comfortable with.

Sadly, voice actors in animated movies are rarely picked for talent alone but because of their names so the studio can advertise the movie with faces the target audience is familiar with. |
