I see 2017 happening at the earliest. I can't see them going for a summer release date and summer 2016 is already pack. Summer 2016 has Amazing Spider-Man 3, Batman vs. Superman, Captain America 3, Finding Nemo 2, How to Train Your Dragon 3, Ice Age 5, Independence Day 2, Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland 2 and X-Men: Apocalypse. If the new TMNT movie does well then I can see them throwing a August release date for a possible sequel.

So since it is the 21st century do we get Dubstep Jitsu instead of Hiphopkido?

Opps my bad. I think we could get give us some cool merchandise for this movie. Maybe a PR game similar to the MMPR movie game on the SNES and Sega Genesis on the next gen systems like the PS4, Wii U and Xbox One. We could get a decent PR game again for once.

I hope for some suit work. I want the monsters in human size to be done in suits. When they grow giant, they can be CG.

The MMPR movie was decent. I don't know if I would buy it but I did enjoy it back when it premiered. So this new one has a lot of potential. Much has changed since the mid 90's.
Undoubtedly BoA will make a ton of merchandise for it. Hopefully it will be ample time for them to finally make a DX fully articulated Megazord.

I have long since wondered about the possibility of this happening. The matter has crossed my mind on more than one occasion. I have daydreamed about this and the prospect of a Green Ranger movie (which no longer seems realistic because of this). The resurgence of old shows and movies into a reboot/remake/re-imagining has been the norm for the modern age. I must say that I have mixed feelings about it. Some, however, are different than others. I know this is off-base, but if you look at some remakes like "Evil Dead", then you see that the two have enough differences where the remake can apparently co-exist with the original. Ones like "Transformers" are a different animal altogether because of the existence of multiple continuities/timelines/dimensions. PR is of a similar nature and the fact that WE HAVE NO INFORMATION AT ALL on how this is going to occur leaves everything we say as pure speculation and wishful thinking. However, that being said, I think there are a few things that can be done here to make this entertaining and beneficial, not just for longtime PR fans, but for normal people who hate and damn PR just for being PR. So many times, it seems like when they remake a superhero movie, they are making it for people who hate the franchise as a whole. The fans of the originals always go and find some reason to say: "This is trash", and that is just a G-Rated testimonial. I wonder if a P.R. movie could be done for the public as a whole as well as those from the beginning. Here are some of my thoughts on how just a few of the tidbits should go (just theory here):
- Van Halen's "Dreams" was in the original Mighty Morphin' movie. It should be again here as well. - Subtle nods to the '90s in general should be here throughout. - Original voice actors are always a plus. - A remake of Mighty Morphin' is peculiar as the Megaforce "Mega Mission" essentially ripped-off "Day of the Dumpster". - If this is a remake of Mighty Morphin', then it should take cues from several of the episodes that debuted before Tommy. - Monsters like Bones, the Giant, Eye Guy, Pudgy Pig, King Sphinx should all make a cameo in one aspect or another. If some of these fan-favorites are not fighting the actual Rangers, then they could appear in a back-story for Rita and Zordon. - The teens actually have acting abilities. The writers can actually write. The editors can actually edit. - A Mighty Morphin' movie could be a definite bandwagon if they use the Dinozords. Think about it, we have Dino Charge in the future, the Dinobots in the new "Transformers", and isn't there a new "Jurassic Park" sometime soon. Many new dinosaurs in fiction on the horizon. - The violence is noticeably less censored, but not so much that it crosses a border. The same with the dialogue. Swearing is there, but to a minimum. There is a little concern with the parents here, but keeping everything somewhat mild maintains the integrity of P.R. and keeps people interested without going so over the top (even though everything about this already is). - Some people who have reported on the existence of this movie from varying sources are confused why anyone is doing this. They seem to be lost on the 20+ years of history with the franchise. Therefore, this should be referenced to some extent. Some of the themes that we have seen should be shown on some small level just so people can get a taste on how broad this is. - Any Mighty Morphin' remake should give a shout-out to the show in general. Remember, this is one of those shows that can get a remake and still continue with a viable series. Multiple dimensions, eh? - Anyone wonder if this is also Saban's way of getting a leg-up on Disney since they are doing a new "Star Wars" trilogy? As time passes, there will be more to comment on. Any advancements will be slow, and public revelations will be slower. Don't expect too much too soon. Everything that we learn will have its own time to be scrutinized. That's enough for now. - "It's Morphin' Time". - "Let's Morphin". |
