I'm not a fan of the obvious missing paint spots and the compartments not opening, but, this is meant for kids so I can't really complain. I have mixed feelings about zord builder though. It's nice that you can swap to create your own but when it gets to the point where they have to change to adapt and those changes are not what I'd like, well.... I'll probably get the Japanese version. But. This looks like fun too.

I just want to reiterate, as I know a lot of people jump on the "BANDAI AMERICA SUCKS" bandwagon.
Power Rangers is intended for kids. These toys, more so than other franchises we may or may not have followed in previous years, are designed for kids to bang them in to each other without breaking. A number of features in GokaiOh just wouldn't translate over to a kid-friendly toy. But Bandai America has a good thing going with the zord builder system and this is an inexpensive and, in my opinion, quality alternative. Plus they're going to do things like we see with the Zeo Red Battlezord homage which I think is really awesome. If you're against it, don't buy it! But remember it's meant for the 5 year old in your family, not the 25 year old with the disposable income to afford the import version.

I've always been of the mind that Gokaioh itself is a terrible desgn. The pirate ship I get, but a truck, racecar, jet and submarine? that's the most random, lazy assortement of vehicles ever, and it's combination is really crude and the (pretty lame) gimmick means all the limbs are just blocks.
I don't find the Legacy Megazord better or worse. In fact, maybe better, since it no longer has really poorly designed doors hanging off when it combines. Last edited by SPLIT LIP; 11-22-2013 at 09:09 PM.. |

Or the 18 year olds who have the tendency to spend money on importing films and music

This guy is actually pretty cool. It definitely doesn't solve all of the problems I had with Gokai-Oh, but a lot of the inclusions (retracting plank, Zordbuilder everywhere, jointed yellow zord) do make up for it here. The smaller size also makes all of the colors look more condensed, so the missing paint isn't as obvious.
My verdict is actually pretty positive for a design that I've never liked at all. |

I'll probably end up getting the Legendary Megazord to review and check out, but I can't see myself owning it for long. I'd probably just end up returning it or selling it to someone else.

Also, what's the "jointing" on the yellow zord I hear? How's that different?

I think on the original the "cab" on yellow detaches and reattaches to form the foot.
