Does the shark seriously just have those yellow bits for the """"knees"""" (all the scare quotes) stuck on it? That's kind of really dumb.

The Mecha:
A love letter to the old school, and I gotta say I'm feeling the love. Lots of folks were quick to draw comparisons to Minecraft, but I see more of the digital pet/Tamagatchi influence here. 8-bit companions that spring to life to fight (this is part of my theory as well). I'm a fan of the blocks because they add another level of play like the Origami did in Shinkenger. I do hope that they combine amongst each other in different ways, and continue the block gimmick throughout. Something Shinkenger did not do with the Origami. If I have one complaint it's the uni-leg for JyuohKing. It would look a lot better if the legs were split apart, but if the components can swap places I'll forgive it. I can't see why else the legs would be fused together. These are very charming, and the way the cubes fold out into different animals seem very creative. I dig these. |

While the gimmick is cool at the same time I hate a lot of auto transformation gimmicks like the the ones the first Transformers movie toys had

This series has an immense amount of potential with the mechs and I am terrified they're going to mess it up.
Why is this? Customization. Or to be specific, hopefully they'll be capable of mixing and matching. How will all the cubes connect in the end? Stacks of 3? Of 4? 5? Can cubes branch to the side? Can the order be rearranged? What can we do with them beyond what they've shown?! In other news, I really hope we get glimpses of the mini-pla for them. Considering how ergonomic the robots are, I'm praying the kits turn out good. |
