Received my Ultras and mantle this week! Pic spam ahoy!
Taro's pretty damn cool - his collar thingy's pretty easy to swap on and off (which really comes in handy regarding posability), as is his right hand. His left hand is a little weird in that the ball joint piece it pops on to tends to come with it when you remove the "standard" left hand and then it doesn't feel like it pops back in all the way so the hand/effect part feels easy to knock off (though the weight of it probably helps, but still, it feels less secure than any other Ultra I own). That's the only problem with mine. Minor nitpick - he doesn't have many other left hands to use anyways - his only gripping hands are right hands rather than left. Ultraman/Hiyata's pretty cool; his hands are a bit harder to pop back on than Taro's or other recent releases, but not Mirror Knight-level hard. I love the dash effect parts he comes with. There is a piece in his back that's supposed to cover the gap between the top and bottom parts of his abdomen but it's loose so it just flops around and you can see the gap anyways. Removing the back piece to clip the Mantle in was fun - not because it was hard to remove but because it shot off across the room. The Brother Mantle is interesting and thankfully (like Father) these guys can balance so they don't need a stand to stay upright despite becoming much more back-heavy. I'll be tempted to pick more up down the road, but for now I'm good with the one I have. My Ultra-Act collection's nearly tripled since March, from four to 11. Pretty sweet. Can't wait for Zoffy and Nexus Junis Blue at the end of this month. |

The Post Office tried to deliver Taro yesterday, but no one was home, so they left the orange slip. I'll have to get him redelivered on Friday.

Sweet pics of Taro guys! I have been so busy that I have yet to open my purchases after Ace.
How come there's no pics of Ultra Father? I thought he would be popular? I will be opening him once his better half (Ultra Mother) is released! |

Taro arrived in the mail today. But the in-laws are in town, so no opening him today. Try explaining to your Mother-in-law why you spent $25 on a toy from Japan...

After having seen my collection room my mother in law is surprisingly pretty cool with it And she's seen stuff I've spent way more than $25 on.

Yeah, well, you don't have my Mother-in-law... Be that as it may, Taro looks fantastic. He'll look great lined up with his Showa brethren. The bent chestpiece is an interesting addition. I also love his beam effect piece.

Actually got in my Jack a couple weeks ago, but I didn't open him up until a couple days ago. He's my first time experiencing the current Ultra Brother body, and while it may not be as magnificent as the the renewal Ultraman body, it's pretty damn good!
Jack does share the same design as Taro with the left wrist joint, because it's designed to swap in or out his Ultra Bracelet, so you always have to pull the hand and the joint out before swapping the left hand. It's a slight nuisance but I can't get Jack's hand to fall out on its own when on display so it shouldn't be a problem otherwise. Loads of fun with all the accessories he includes, and his Specium Ray is fantastic.

Guys, is Ultraman 80 consider part of the Ultra brothers? I can only remember the members as Ultraman (original), Seven, Ace, Jack, Zoffy and Taro...at the most Leo and Astra were late additions.

His status as an Ultra Brother wasn't clear in the time of his own series, but I do believe it's confirmed during Ultraman Mebius that 80 became a full-fledged Ultra Brother. He may not wear the Brother's Mantle (only Ultraman, Zoffy, Ultraseven Jack, Ace, and Taro do) or be considered legendary, but he's still one of them alongside the legendary six and Leo, Astra, Mebius and Hikari.
Naturally he's also a member of the Space Garrison, as is Yulian and nearly every Ultraman in television and film.

Thanks for the clarifaction. My impression on Ultraman 80 is very hazy - I remember about the legendary 6 but was very unsure on the former.
Once Mother of Ultra is released, I consider my Ultra Act collection complete. I'm on the fence with Monster Act Zetton as I don't the multi-jointed look. Last edited by LigerPrime; 07-06-2013 at 11:11 AM.. |
