Long, the antagonist of Gekiranger, is immortal. They had to seal him away into a small orb. Bringing him back is a huge plot hole or continuity gaff because you literally can't just kill him by virtue of Rider/Ranger army. Basically, it's not the resurrection, but it's who they chose to revive...

Spoiler for Gekiranger. Don't look if you're watching the Let's Watch

Still, out of 35 years of villains, they had to pick that one? I heard Toei is being less liberal when it comes to destroying/altering suits and props, but I didn't think they started that with Geki (Unless Long's design is just so damn good that they had to have it).

Spoilers, for those that care.
I think Decade's theme as a whole, was terrific. You have a guy who doesn't know who he is, he's told to destroy all AU Riders to stop the worlds from slamming into each other and he doesn't want to do that. He thinks it's not right, but it happens anyway. Turns out, the guy is the head of the baddies, and needs to not only destroy the AU Riders, but the real ones as well, which he also doesn't really want to do. In the end, he figures there's no real way out and since Decade is the cause of the AU Riders in the first place, he does the Jesus-allegory thing and sacrifices himself. Once he's gone, the people he's supposed to destroy realize that without him, they don't exist, and based on memories alone, bring him back to life. Also, the underlying theme is wonderful. You have a guy who can't take photos because he doesn't belong anywhere. He has no home. He wants to capture the world, because photographs create memories (see above) and without memories, he can't photograph anything. Then, there's also the color scheme: magenta, cyan, black and yellow; all used in printing and the color spectrum to make an infinite number of colors, as well as the DecaDriver itself looking like a camera. Sure, Tsukasa was a troll. But like I said in a different thread, Tsukasa trolled for the right reasons. It was an internal battle with himself, who he was and who he was supposed to be. Clearly he wasn't meant to be evil, because he didn't feel that way when he didn't know his purpose, and when he discovered it, he did the exact opposite. Yes he was arrogant, yes he was "good at everything" (the Prince of Tennis reference was awesome in Faiz's World) but between Tsukasa and Tendou, Tsukasa put many others before himself, even it was at times, unintentional. Lastly, I think the helmet card thing was brilliant considering Decade is based on a shield bug. But Decade complete, I'll give ya. I always kinda hoped that the roles would be reversed with each other's Complete Form, that being Decade's and Diend's, in that Decade summoned Riders and in Complete Form, Diend became them, but... alas. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed Decade and thought it was great. |

Also, for what it's worth Decade does have a story. It's the story of one who's told they must do something that they personally do not want to do and don't full understand. The work to move against it but are eventually forced into the role that had been decided for them.
Also you can't deny how awesome something like this is! |
