My guess is something about Sela and Leo last episode, but that was more "Leo held his punches because only jerks hit women and Sela took that as a sign of him being patronizing to her worth as an opponent just because she's a girl."

Yeah, that's what I was getting at. It's not overt, but it is definitely there. The idea of not hitting a woman goes hand in hand with the issue of domestic violence. I might be reaching, but I would like to think that the writers are diving into social issues that plague today's world.

I don't quite connect not fighting a women and domestic violence.
Something you particularly have to keep in mind is that Leo was actually fighting Sela. He only held back on the final hit, with intent to lose, but otherwise, the fight was real, and it was Sela's prowess that Leo relied on to keep her safe. But really, it didn't have anything to do with domestic violence. Leo just doesn't want to hit a girl out of his own morality.

HOLY CRAP! Amazing episode
I am continually shocked how well executed the story is, even with the mandate to sell a red upgrade and toys

Fair enough. But it still is awesome that a show like this is touching on gender issues.

I doubt Azald is dead, but still, Jagged from the opening episode is considered a general. Look at how easily he got defeated!

So, episode 4: Great message for Sentai to deliver, with a pretty good execution. And it also taught me that Elephants are just sniffer dogs. Seems legit.
And episode 5: It has Larri the Rastafarian Spanish-speaking Gorilla Scientist. Best character of the show, no challenge. Azald is probably coming back, but he won't be missed if he stays down. He had almost as much personality as last years villains.

I couldn't have been the only one that wanted to make a Planet of the Apes joke during this episode.
But yeah, Zyuohger continues to be a blast. I'm loving the hell out of this show It does feel a bit early to be killing off Team Leaders, but I wonder if they're going to be bringing in a new set of villains? |
