Is there a good resource for buying japanese video games? I want to buy Digimon Story: Lost Evolution and Digimon Story: Super Xros Red Wars / Blue... but I don't want to just use Amazon in case there's a better place.

Yes, and no. I guess my main beef is that now that I've begun shopping with HLJ, I'm a bit more jaded.
* Ami has the rigid order policy and most communications with them comes across like you're just bothering them. A few times they did what I asked without even responding to me. I had to log in and see that it had been done * Ami has great discounts (better than HLJ in most cases) but severely overpriced shipping. This might be because they well-pack things into huge boxes, but still, the prices are up there (my last order was for $220 with $95 in shipping via EMS. A similar order @ HLJ cost me $50 to ship via Fedex) * Ami offers order grouping when making new orders, and grouping previous orders when the releases are in the same month, but HLJ has the private warehouse where I order what I want, then ship what I want, when I want. * Going with the last point, HLJ offers more and cheaper shipping options and tells you the prices up front (when ordering or moving from warehouse to shipping). I just personally feel it's a smoother process. * The DX sell-out times are insane, but at least the restocks can be caught if you watch. On the plus for AMI, they carry more product, meeting more needs, and are usually a few bucks cheaper than HLJ. They also have the point system which is cool. There's where I split off. I don't do the whole warehouse thing. It's a neat system, but I have trouble waiting that long to have something in hand. I agree the shipping can be a bit high, but they still go by weight. Stuff might cost the same but could be a lot heavier. It would make no sense if 2 boxes of equal weight cost $40 more to ship from AmiAmi than HLJ. The shipping cost ratios are relatively constant between most places based on my 2 years and thousands of dollars worth of orders. xD I don't know about better, but you can check Play-Asia. Not necessarily cheap, but there's some condition that will net you free shipping I think. Unless it's always free. Never ordered from them, but I've browsed a lot of import games.

Hlj also uses FedEx and DHL which sometimes gives rates based on volume and not weight.
I see your point re: the warehouse, but I've hit a sell a couple times ordering something small from Ami that ships 2-3 weeks prior to things in a larger order and their system not letting me combine. If it's not an immediate want/need id rather they hold to ship together. |

And I have dealt with the not being able to combine thing. It's all about stock and release dates. A lot of times if I see something pre-owned I want and my current month order has been paid for, I have to wait until the month changes to add it to the next one, running the risk of someone else getting it first.

If it's a recent-ish figure, imported by Bluefin, or a reasonably-priced figure, then yes, that's perfectly fine!
I got Blade, Garren and Shining Agito on Amazon, and pre-ordered Chalice there as well. And probably others too. |

Anyone know how big that DX Revolgarry is? Because Jungle just slapped me with a ¥7,300 SAL shipping charge on it. I about had a heart attack.

I have it and it's actually a pretty great DX. NOT AT ALL worth that shipping charge though, I mean it's a big box but that's ridiculous. I'd have gladly sold you mine for that much with shipping included.

It's sad, too, because Revolgarry was only ¥5,400. I can't even figure it out. I wish I'd known you were amenable to selling yours. Dadgumit.
