I can totally understand the hate for most anime. I'm certainly not a fan of the medium when it takes itself seriously. Shows like Death Note, NGE, and Cowboy BeBop do nothing for me. I do, however, absolutely adore anime when it just lets loose. Namely, slice-of-life schoolgirl comedies. There's this charm about them that I can't get from other shows. There are a few serious anime shows that I do love, but that's due to them being romance stories, which I'm just a weakling for. Especially Toradora. I would watch that if anyone here hasn't.

What part did you like best? The part where they broke the magic crystal and had to gather its shards, the part where they broke the magic crystal again and had to gather its shards, or the part where they broke the magic crystal yet a-fucking-gain and had to gather its shards?
But hey, I should be fair. At least each story arc had the exact same villain.

here is the thing...I need something DIFFERENT to get my attention...Trigun, Helsing, Marcross Plus, GL, of course Bebop...they had something unique to bring to the table...I like the older stuff that originated the ideas, like Mazinger, which I have to say they do an amazing job of reinventing from time to time...or Fist of the North Star.
Not to be that old guy in a rocker...but damn a lot of the new stuff is just rehashing... |

Oh Toradora. I downloaded that series and My Little Pony at the same time.
Guess I made the wrong choice in what to watch first~

It's not really a problem with the shows being part of the anime genre; it's not like I have some sacred standards to which I hold up anime. I just didn't feel very enthralled by their plots. I don't watch much television, for the simple fact that I have very specific tastes when it comes to things, and I tend to be drawn to cutesy, gimmicky stuff that still has some kind of story element. Hence why I'm into toku, slice-of-life anime, and certain cartoons.

Oh hey I forgot to mention earlier that I do find ALL Miyazaki films to be shit. It's just my honest opinion of them.

I do watch anime time to time. But what I would consider a good anime would be a series that when it ends, there's this lingering feeling of an old love that we wish would not go away. I mean it sounds weird but this feeling is hard to elaborate.
I'm usually not a fan of anime that goes above 50eps as it starts to get a drag, from plot A to B to C etc. Some of my favorites being ToraDora, K-On. Both are really light hearted and a nice way to end a day of hard work. Super Robot, hell it must be Gurren Lagann. Full Metal Panic was one of my favourite as well. Currently I'm caught on Kuroko's Basketball. Being a basketball fan myself I'm kinda hook onto it. Just my 2 cents. |
