I am interested in getting some exclusives, but I'm not terribly clear on the manner in which is handled. Does one wait in line, are there numbered tickets like at a deli counter? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Really depends on the company. They are almost all offered at that specific company's booth in the main exhibit hall. The various hoops you have to jump through (such as getting tickets for the Hasbro booth) are different depending on the company.

You bascially have to know what you are wanting to get and how it's being done beforehand for some of the stores. Hasbro, for instance, hands out tickets early in the morning with a time when you can go to the booth. The first day of the Con a lot of people try to get all their exclusives so it can be a battle with long lines and such because no one wants to go latter to find it's sold out or miss a panel they really want on another day.
A lot of them have daily limits and sometimes it's just a free for all once the doors open. Last year my buddy wanted a Portal Gun so I got in first and went to the line. Little did I know the line I was in was for something else and the Portal Guns were right there next to me with no line out of what looked like a back door. By the time someone explained their were more people in the Portal Gun line than the daily allotment. I was pretty angry because I was staring the guy in the face for 3 minutes and he never said anything nor was there any sign posted. That is why you gotta figure out the process for what you want beforehand lol. |

From what I've heard from CookSux after he middlemanned me a Comic-Con Explosion Godzilla, the process to get Bluefin exclusives was painless. Line up, get stuff, either no or a high enough max quantity that it didn't matter, get out. There's always the small risk of things being more difficult, but Bluefin will probably continue to keep things simple.
The one thing to keep an eye out for is whether or not Bluefin's booth is split in half this year. Thought I saw something about their gunpla and shokugan/candy toy stuff being separate from the Tamashii stuff. Lastly, when it comes to Bluefin stuff, take it easy. Of all the big toy exclusives sold every year, theirs are among the simplest and best-stocked of them all. You have little risk of not getting Bluefin items, so you can usually safely prioritize other stuff first.
