These past two episodes have easily, EASILY been the best episodes Takuro Fukuda has ever written. This two-parter right here is the story Saber should have been telling all along. It is a bit...odd that we seem to have forgotten about the humans being transformed into Megidos, but I'm going to chalk that up to the show not knowing what the heck to do with those three bad guys. But man, we are halfway through this show and I think we have finally seen this show find its footing and is telling a story that's actually engaging and unique among the KR franchise.
Also, there is no way in hell Tassel is dead. In fact, after watching this episode, I'm convinced he (and Logos) will become Riders down the road. |

You know, I praised the episode for having Saikou pointedly move his head to subtly convey Yuri's thoughts, and it's just now occurring to me that there's also something technically wrong about that scene, which is that Saikou Shadow isn't supposed to emote like that.
I mean, it's obviously a simple conceit for the sake of the drama, and I'm not actually saying it's a problem (because it's the opposite of that) – I mostly just want to use this as an excuse to mention one more thing I find cool about X Swordman, which is how no matter what form Saikou is in, his consciousness is always supposed to be located wherever the gold mask is. This is even evident in this very episode, where Saikou looks at Touma and Mei with his arm to ask them if they're alright after he saves them. It's a neat way to keep some of the unique weirdness of Saikou's body language around even though X Swordman's default mode makes him into a "normal" Rider.

Well I'm caught up now, and wow all the emotional beats in this episode hit like trucks.

It's an acting mistake I think, but in a way, it's also kind of creepy when you consider Shadow is somewhat alive and has its own sensory organs?? |

I think with X-Swordman specifically, the idea is that it's the light fully controlling the shadow; no matter what form that light takes. It's definitely a little... odd, and I certainly think you could chalk more than a few of its options up to oversights (suit actors, directors and just about everyone else on the creative team is used to more conventional stuff that they wouldn't pick up on every instance of this being broken), but it's something I can ignore.
