Sure enough, the show is nearly over, and it's time for another, much bigger one of these. Back when I made that first poll, there were quite a few sacred blades left to appear, but now they've all been assembled... for a while, actually, but I wanted to give the Xross Saber itself some time to sit, and a week with no new Saber seems like the perfect opportunity for me to bust out this excuse to still talk about Saber.
As with the first thread, this is strictly about the swords themselves, not the characters... nominally, anyway. If you like one weapon over another simply because of who holds it, that's as good a reason as any; what I'm more trying to get at there is that if you happen to passionately dislike a character, but DO like their weapon, you shouldn't feel bad about picking it. Sword But Big and Sword But Gun turned out to be rather popular last time around, but the responses then were still nicely varied, and I'm really curious to see how everyone feels over a half a year later with way more options. I mean, sure, Gekido and Suzune are classic choices, but now we've got a stylish black sword of nothingness, a sword that literally IS a character just to make that one "rule" even more pointless, a really elegant rapier, a crazy time-erasing trident, and even a sword that could be argued to be the "all of the above" option for the poll. I still think every answer here is a correct answer, but, funnily enough, as I'm pointing out all the wild new gimmicks that have shown up since I originally said the very gimmicky Suzune was my favorite, it's gotta be Rekka for me now? It's still not an easy choice to make, but the phrase "simple is best" comes to mind. You can't go wrong with its basic but heroic style, and the show's story has worked wonders in the past 7 or 8 months to build my attachment to it. Touma and that sword have been through a lot together, and it even got a whole epic lore backstory complete with a prophecy and everything. It's hard for me not to see it as the coolest thing ever at that point!

I’m going with Xross Saber this time, mostly because of how fun it is as a toy. And because it reminds me of Kiwami Arms and Shishi Red Orion.

Yuri is probably my favaorite character is Saber so automatically already biased torwards Saikou. But there also the fact that he is the sword. So he gets the leg up for just being my favaorite character as well as using the thing.

Man there's so many good ones to choose from in the latter half, hell Kurayami managed to get really cool past it's introduction what with it's expanded lore.
Kyomu is a bit simplistic but I like what it represents. Noroshi is pretty good too because while it's a simple rapier it's smoke abilities are great. Saikou is a favorite and it has a lot of cool tricks to it. Xross is like the pinnacle of all of them and really if I wanted to cheat then I'd say that because then you could pick all of them. Not to mention it has a satisfying way to activate it's powers, something about how they frame the sliding of the sword is real good. My pick however is Jikokuken Kaiji because hell yeah, King Crimson Sword/Trident is honestly really cool! I also love it's reveal too, it was slow but we saw the sword, then it's wielder and we wondered just what it would be because, for all intents and purposes, it looked pretty plain. Then suddenly pics of Kamen Rider Durandel surfaced and we find out it's actually a Trident?! And the idea of flipping the blade of the sword to dictate what mode it's in is actually really cool! I'll always enjoy the more simplistic swords but transforming ones, even the ones I'm meh on (Hayate) are probably the best ones of Saber purely on interest factor. Then add into the fact that this sword comes with an absolutely different time power than the rest, of course I'm going to love it! |

I see your Sword But Big and Sword But Gun (and Sword But Two Of Them And Also Shuriken), but Sword But Trident wins for me. I was found it weird at first how blatantly out-of-scale the trident mode is, and it's not how I would've designed a trident/sword (I would've used a sliding crossguard, but I guess they were saving that for Xross Saber) but I love its visual design and the reversing blade concept. But what makes it my favorite is a neat little detail I noticed in its functioning: Durandal's time-erasing ability basically creates "gaps" in time, and pulling the Kaiji's blade from the hilt to activate that power also creates a "gap" in the sword itself!
My second favorite is Noroshi just because I love its transformation song so much. Fly! Smog! Sting! Steam! Konchuu Chu Daihyakka~

Kurayami is still my favourite after it, but it’s hard to deny how cool Xross is. Great final form weapon

Also worth noting is that it's designed to have two ends to represent the two hands on a clock (hence the details like the arrows and the little circle in the middle of the blade), which is pretty effective integration of the motif.

Kyomu because it's the already nice base sword design, but done up in sleak black and orange.
Gekidou because I like FF7 XD. |

I love Kurayami. It's attached to great forms, I love the jagged blade, and the abilities and lore surrounding it.
It's also not a single-sided blade unlike the other swords, the emblem is present on both sides o the sword, I think. Honorable mention goes to Haouken and Saikou. |

I think I said Nagare last time something like this was up but I think Nagare will have to step down this time and offer up the spot to Haouken Xross Saber.
