Yeah okay, didn't see that one coming. The ancient beast Cetas fought against was in fact Azald, and he ended up all cube-y because this power was used to seal him away. And I guess Genis modified him into a soldier for his amusement afterwards.
Man Zyuohger really goes all out now. We have this, an explanation how Genis made Zyuoh TheWorld's equipment and the thing with Yamato's dad goes into its final phase. Also interesting to note how Leo, Sela, Tusk and Amu caught the mini cubes we’ve known forever about in a way that matches their colors. It’s probably not happening but a lategame power-up with semi-new suits would be really awesome. |

I'm thinking they'll just use the mini cubes as personal weapons.
Anyway, the episode was pretty fun. While I do feel this is all coming a bit too late, I'm glad we're getting it at all. Azald being the ancient monster Cetus fought was something I didn't consider, and it's great to learn just how relevant Azald is turning out to be. Kind of surprising for the villain I considered to be the disposable general. I'm genuinely curious over what's next. Always great to get more on Yamato's family life. I guess it's easy to see why kid Yamato severed ties with his father. Can't wait to learn more next week~

I guess it was a good thing no one posted last months Zyuohger scans since the whole Azald being the monster that Cetus fought plot point got spoiled there.

Man, this is nuts. It's just payoff after payoff lately with Zyuohger. This whole endgame stretch has been so strong I feel I really haven't been giving the show enough credit.
なめたというべきでしょうね~ Anyway, can't wait for next week, where I'm sure we'll find out that like, there's some deep reason Yamato wears scarves or something.

I feel like Zyuohger has been pretty consistently great since the Gokaiger crossover two-parter. I mean, the show isn't revolutionary or groundbreaking in any way -- it's dealing with very conventional Sentai tropes (in a lot of ways, it's essentially Gingaman 2.0) -- but it's done with reverence for the show's history and it's produced with a nice modern polish. Plus, there are a few standout characters that I really love. Unless the next three episodes contain some major twists, I doubt Zyuohger will crack my top 5 (though it may be top 10 material). But no matter what it's a solid example of Sentai being Sentai. |

This was freaking amazing. I definitely feel that this is the tale of two different shows. Since the 30's Zyuohger got so much better and continues with these episodes. Azauld's reveal was crazy but awesome. I can't wait to see where this goes. Also Mario and Larry meeting was hilarious. I loved Amu in this episode too she was great trying to help Yamato to reconcile with his father. This series is freaking brilliant lately.

Although besides "Go-Busters > everything else", I don't really know where anything would fall on that list, so maybe it does have a chance.

I feel Zyuohger easily makes my top 10. It's not blowing me away with originality, but it's remained steadily solid with the only hiccup being the villains.
And considering the villains is something most every Sentai have a hard time with, I'm not exactly condemning it. 4 of the 5 main villains are pretty interesting. Contrast with Gingaman, which is eerily similar to Zyuohger, where the only interesting villain was Budo, who had all of 10 episodes, and Bookrates, who stopped being interesting about 3 episodes after he started being interesting.
