Ah, Sentai's 45th anniversary was actually 2020; as Goranger's first episode was April 1975. You might be thinking of how its last dozen or so episodes aired in 1977, or that JAKQ aired in 1977

I watched up to episode 25 and goddamn, Zenkaiger truly delivers to the absolute insanity Zenkaiger gets hyped up as. Episode 18 is easily one of my favourite episodes with being one of the only times I liked romance in Sentai, I found myself constantly laughing at everything with the mech fight having me nearly cry laughin after barely recoving to the Jetman parody.. 24 was also amazing with the joy of a more... Slice of life Sentai episode than usual, having most of the episode completely ignore the entire invasion aspect that kickstarted the plot. I also have to say, Zenkaiju Oh is an amazing mech, though I think that's cause I see a bit of Q Rex inspiration and I loved Time Force. I cannot wait for my next opportunity to watch more of this truly blessed show

"Is that a JoJo reference!?" Sorry, needed to get the obligatory response out.
So, I went as far as my internet was going to let me go today to watch three, yes 3, episodes of Avataro Sentai DonBrothers! First off, yes, I know I'm late, there's a new mech out (or is that too early), everything I say will probably be overturned by now, but I only just found time to get around to this, so let's get cracking! Now, I knew this was going to be breaking the Sentai formula, but it went greater lengths to convey that, and I love them for that. The aesthetic is perfect, the olde Japanese, the visuals, the Kabuki style thrown into Don Momotaro's fighting style, is just plain wonderful. He only appeared at the end of episode 1, and I already love him, bringing out a festival, complete with dancers, a stage, a fan, flower petals, and banners, and the aforementioned Kabuki are such a delight to watch. I guess I can relate to Oni Sister, being that one of my biggest fears is creating something that's already been done and would therefore be plagiarizing, that and just extremely bad luck. It's an interesting angle for a Sentai, where usually the Red is the main focus or character we start the show with (of course, we already had his Momotaro entrance at the beginning, so...), but the whole feel of the show feels early Heisei, Showa, and Reiwa mixed together. I know the writer did a majority of the early Heisei Rider shows, and I can definitely see that, especially since it felt like a Rider show at first. Insert Spiderwick reference here. I love the whole unseen world concept going on here, which works great for the "mech" fights, reminding me immensely of Gridman, but CG, which works best in this light. Kiji Brother's CG isn't too bad, glad that there's more that can be done with practical effects for him, while Inu Brother unfortunately has the weakest, it's slightly better than the trailers, but still feels out of place, and that's not for his design. Overall, it's not a show breaker for me, but it's not great, which is more than I was expecting from a CGI heavy season. I've already said I liked the Villains' designs, very early Heisei. But for them individually, blueman (I'll hopefully remember the names) definitely feels like someone you'd see in a Heisei Phase 1 Rider Season, serious, edgy, and one for talking fancy as he trash talks people, and I enjoyed how he debuted as a "hero" before revealing his true colors, definitely my favorite design. Spears reminds me of Slash from Saber, and Kamen Rider Aqua, reminds me of Gridon, design wise, while Creepy chick has a very Carmearra/Camilla vibe, but the personality of your usual looks-cute-but-will-absolutely-stab-you-in-the-middle-of-numerous-wandering-eyes kind of character. I'm really curious to see what Goth Kaito (most likely an alternate version of him) has in store and what he's planning, but everything these three episdoes has shown much promise, and it's one wild ride that I'm enjoying and look forward to see what follows. Until then, I'll be playing catchup before the show leaves me in the dust and I inevitably decide it's not worth it, when it looks as though it will. |

I have now seen 45 episodes total of Zenkaiger and man this show just keeps getting better, Hakaizer's been one of the most fun enemies I can think of and every new spin on the roll call keeps leaving me with pure joy. I'm gonna miss this show when I'm done though after that I've got Magiranger, Shinkenger and Liveman to try out so I'm gonna have a blast
