Yeah Dangerous Zombie is definitely the best suit of the show far and I applaud the suit actor for making it work so well.
But also, dick move Dan, but I can't place all the blame on Dan. Kiriya you damn sucker! Oh and I also like how their beginning to phase out the Level 1 Suits, in a bit of a classier way though. The Level 1 suits were specifically meant to separate the Virus. If the Virus has grown to a point where Level 1 is no longer usable then it would make sense to skip past Level 1 more often. |

So yeah… this episode. First half children’s Christmas special, second half Game of Thrones. Jesus.
Okay, let’s start at the Christmas part. I think it was neat. That’s literally it; it’s a good Christmas stuff thingy. And it lowkey drops a very interesting point: Poppi is a Bugster? Huh? How? When? Why? You got some explaining to do show. And then the second half, damn. They continue the interesting plot with Emu’s operation, add something t it, and then kill off the best character of the show. I mean for one I’m happy because it’s such a strong moment and I think Kiriya’s deal would’ve lost steam very quickly, but man, I really liked him. Also I agree. Genm Level X is the best suit in the whole show so far, it’s awesome. Well, that’s a Christmas special if I ever saw one. I loved it. And I think now I can safely say that this show already achieved more for me in 12 episodes than Ghost during its entire runtime. |

Watching it again, I must say, Genm's a load of fresh air for the franchise. He mixes up lots of things from previous Riders and does it Well. He has Ouja's psychotic side, Ryoma's dedication and Necrom's initial threatening appearance. I personally can't wait to see how far little Genm goes. Mauve he'll become the end game villain and gain his mortality back with a future upgrade? I love how he's clearly not done yet as it means despite fighting Level 20 next week the bastard refuses to die

I've seen some mad mood whiplash in Kamen Rider before, but this takes the Christmas cake. Words cannot even express my reaction between the Christmas part and savagely murdering Kiriya part. At least I had all week to mentally prepare for that though. That t-shirt hurts though Toei, please stop that. I'm wondering what impact this first character death will have on the rest of the Riders going forward, I would love to see Emu maybe struggle with it going forward. I'll definitely miss Kiriya, although there's still a ton of interesting plot going on to keep me excited.
(Also, placing my bet now, the next Rider to go will be Genm. Preferably in an excessively satisfying way.)

..............................COME ON TOEI!!!!!!!!! REALLY!!??
(I kinda want that shirt tho. Never forget) So yeah. Kiriya's officially dead. Not sure what else to say about the episode. I mean, I kinda thought Poppy was a Bugster and it's cool to get that confirmation, but that got brushed off so easily. Probably because it was kind of obvious if you thought about it. Christmas stuff was campy, but fun campy. Plot threads abound. Zombie Genm has some interesting powers. Is he immortal? His health bar kinda resembles the Game Over graphic. Henshin sequence was awesome though. Kinda wish I could put gifs as my phone background now. But my brain is still really caught up on Kiriya dying. Kind of numb angry at this point. Worst part is my GGCB Gashat, Sparrow, and Bugvisor (sans buckle) are showing up in two days. Friggin package getting delayed *grumble grumble timing grumble*...

I'm wondering a lot more about the operation secret now. So now we know Emu and Kuroto had some sort of contact 16 years ago, which can of course only refer to the operation incident. And Kiriya's words at the end superficially don't mean too much, beyond the sentiment in them, but I wonder...him going "As long as you smile you'll still be you" is kind of interesting wording. It could just be Kiriya telling him to not lose heart and keep being the guy he's always been, but they have sort of been pushing the split personality thing, which will be exacerbated with Double Action next episode. And well, we know two things: Kuroto is a psychopath, and M is just a little unhinged. Could it be some sort of weird...thing that caused some of Kuroto's twisted personality to influence Emu? Like...probably not, but it's a thought.
Kuroto was only 14 when this happened too so I somewhat doubt he was masterminding things back then, but who really knows. Regardless. Perhaps there's some danger of the M personality overtaking Emu's, and that will be...bad, for reasons? Alternative plot twist: M is the real personality, Emu is the good side of Kuroto he now lacks because Emu stole it...somehow. Maybe. Again, probably not. Though tinking about it, smiling right before transforming is exactly how Emu signals that he's going M. But it probably doesn't mean anything. Anyway, I'm probably just overthinking this a lot for no reason, but whatever. |
