Gaoranger episodes 1-5.
I actually love this season already, it's pretty good by sentai standard's in my eye. Not quite Gokaiger or Shinkenger in my eyes, but it's easier for me to sit down and watch than some others. Though, is it just me, or were the Auxiliary Spirits introduced a bit too fast? Anyway, I like the season so far. Nothing super crazy, but I like it. Now, on to Wild Force, which I was honestly surprised by...but that's for another thread. |

I'm fairly new to Super Sentai, but I watched a lot of the Power Rangers growing up. I decided to start from the beginning, so I'm watching Himitsu Sentai Goranger and I'm loving it. I can't wait to watch the series that come after.

I'm also new to Super Sentai and these forums. I was very intrigued by Kyoryuger having tons of different "ranger" colors (sorry I know I probably shouldn't call them rangers, but I'm new to Sentai and don't know what else to call them yet, haha) as well as the almost cartoony theme of the uniforms and mecha. I didn't want to wait for it to be adapted to Power Rangers, so I started watching it and I'm hooked! I really really like it. When I'm finished with it I intend on going back and watching some of the other Sentai shows like Shinkenger, Gokeiger etc...
I do have a question though since this is my first series to watch. What is the general consensus currently about Kyoryuger? Does the fandom generally like it more or less than past seasons? |

You know as I rewatch Jetman, I have to ask something. Why do they need two bracelets? They only need the one to transform. I guess the other one works as a walky talkie sort of deal, but still. Couldn't they have just combined the two?

Decided to pick up Go-Busters again, which I said I'd do forever. I went with episode 15, as I'm pretty sure I saw past this, but this is one of the first episodes that is really crucial to the plot, beyond the first couple.
I kinda get why people didn't like this show. Go-Busters really doesn't feel like a sentai series. The leather looking suits, the fact the show places much more focus on story, world building and character than on the action, it all feels more like your average Kamen Rider show, than sentai. Personally I love this direction as I think out of the two big ones, Kamen Rider is a much, much better franchise (imo), but if you're a sentai die hard I can see why this might be challenging. And it isn't to say the action is bad. The designs for the villains are awesome, especially considering they are just made out of household appliances and stuff. And I love how people are actually in danger, and need to be saved by the Busters. Monster fighting is wicked, but seeing our heroes save the day is even better. If I was gonna complain about anything, it's J. I love the Buddyroid designs in this show, and as much as the suits have grown on me, I can't help but be disappointed by how much cooler J looks BEFORE he transforms. I didn't realise how much I missed this show.

I finished watching Zyuranger last night and the one thing that kept popping in my head was (cue Ami) Wow! I didn't hate it, but I can't say that I loved it either. The mecha battles were pretty good, most of the characters fell short, and the story was there but it wasn't. The whole God vs Satan thing caught me off guard. Burai's death seems overhyped, I actually thought the episode with Dragon Ceasar mourning was more impactful. I would definitely suggest that people watch this series to see where MMPR got its start, sort of like a history lesson. My biggest takeaway was that somebody watched it and said "I think we can make this work in America."

Go-Busters 16.
Man J is a weirdo, but I like the way they balance his goofiness with actual serious goings on. It was an interesting choice to introduce J and Jin's mechs as CGI, but I preferred it. It was probably the best introduction of a mech in the franchise, other than Ace's and Dragon Star-Lord's intro. I also love the teams balance, Hiromu trusts his team to get the job done, and doesn't need to do absolutely everything himself. I don't get this Avatar stuff though, if they are just projections from Hyperspace how come they can interact with our world like everyone else?
