Hi,
I like to do a survey from Toku fans. I know people who watch Toku could probably end up watching dramas like J-dramas, K-dramas, or any drama shows from Asia. As some of you may or may not know, Korean dramas has gained huge global popularity around the world since early 2000's (which has led to other Asian dramas picking up audiences outside beyond Asian demographics): Korean dramas on Hulu: why I'm addicted Entertainment Weekly-Korean Dramas: A beginner guide Adwire-Korean Dramas hook English and Spanish speakers Korean Drama fever spread among US fans K-drama lead Hallyu Hallyu reaches other side of the world Korean dramas find more fanbases in Latin America Korean dramas find new market in Central and South America K-drama popularity soars in Cuba and Latin America Latin Media corp- The Sweeping success continue for Asian drama in Latin America Latin Media corp- Taiwanese drama Office Girls/Chicas de Oficina gain popularity in Latin America Korean Wave spreads in Middle East through K-drama and tourism The picture below you see is Dae Jang Geum aka Jewel in the Palace, it's the most famous Korean drama known worldwide, this was one of the few K-dramas that launched the Korean Wave or Hallyu: Some of you may have watched 1 J-drama, like for example Itazura Na Kiss: Love in Tokyo (pictured below) I'm doing a little survey on how many people on Toku Nation may have seen dramas from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, or Mainland China? How many of you know about legal streaming websites like Dramafever, Crunchyroll, and Viki? How many of you know about KBS World TV on Youtube. If you don't know what K-drama or what Asian drama is, then I'll show you couple of videos: Fall in Love with me (Taiwanese drama) episode 1 10 minute preview I understand these drama can appeal to toku fans (depend on your taste/flavor). So how many of you have seen K-dramas/Asian dramas? Last edited by mdo7; 09-14-2014 at 12:30 PM.. Reason: some mistakes in my sentences, adding more information. cutting down 2 videos |

From the vote options above none really fit me to be honest. I like japanese dramas but I never managed to finish one
I mostly watch the first episodes and then sloooowly keep watching. The ones I checked out so far were Ouran Highschool Host Club, Yamada-kun and the seven witches, Switch Girld and the more recent Great teacher Onizuka show. |

I made an update on my first post (fixed some of my statements, and including more links just in case some people are skeptic). |

I haven't really watched any Korean Dramas yet but I really like watching Japanese ones. I'd say my favorites are God, Please Give Me More Time and Mischievous Kiss.
Also a friendly note, you may want to cut down the number of videos as it may be difficult for people to load the topic and work in it with so many.

Other than toku, Japanese dramas are pretty much all I watch for the past three years. I don't really watch Korean drama's, though Korean horror movies are one of my favorite genre(Hansel and Gretel and White being two of my favorites.) I did watch one korean horror drama but the name escapes me. I'll probably watch more of them though
Back to Japanese drama's, I love all diffrent kinds and mostly find them by following actors/idols. My top ten would be (besides the top three they are not in any particular order) 1. Maou 2. Kazoku Game 3. Hidarime Tantei EYE 4. Kimi wa Petto 5. Shinagami-kun 6. Papadol! 7.Runaway ~Aisuru Kimi no Tame ni~ 8. Joker 9. Mirai Nikki ~Another World! 10. Bitter Blood

I occasionally watch J-dramas with toku alumni to see what other roles they can play.

I mostly watch J-Dorama that have fromer Toku actors (which usually happen to be Anime live action shows, like Switch Girl). It's mostly fantasy-related stuff or comedy that I decide to check out. My favorites are Ouran High School Host Club, GTO and Tokyo Ghost Trip (haven't finished that last one though).
As for Korean dramas, I've never watched them because frankly, I was never that interested in Korea anyway, but I do like Korean movies. One of my favorite movies is a horror film called Hansel and Gretel (yay for both of us liking that movie, EitoRanger). Many people from my university watch K-dramas though. It's quite a thing both with those who actually study Korean and those who do Japanese. Most people from Chinese class don't seem to care as much though. Though I did study Chinese before I never watched dramas from Taiwan or China (funnily enough). Also, I'm with Winston on the whole "too many videos in the first post" thing. If you want to share so much, just post links instead of the players. It's much more reader-friendly. Last edited by Suzu; 09-10-2014 at 12:28 AM.. |

I seen a few Japanese drama shows and I plan to watch more, but they are on my bucket list. I seen a good amount of Japanese drama movies though. I love anything from Yasujiro Ozu.
