All he wanted was to be loved. It's so sad

Well I've finally finished up Jetman. Is it the perfect masterpiece many proclaim it to be? No, but it comes close. Some of the story wasn't that great in that it could have been better or just didn't explain things. Jet Icarus is cool but just doesn't work as a man in a suit. However my only real complaint is pretty much what I said about the story. Other then that, I thought it was a damn good ride all the way through it. It isn't the masterpiece it's said to be, but it comes very close to it in my opinion, and it is easily one of my favorite Sentais.
Oh yeah, might as well get this out of the way. I don't care that Gai died or how he died. Yes it would have been better if he died in battle and not by stopping a robbery, but you know what I don't care. At least it wasn't some bullshit that was never explained. Anyways, great show. But now it's time to watch my first Showa Sentai, and it's also the one people say is even better then Jetman: Liveman.

Nah, I've seen a few people on other sites say it.

Finished up watching 1-5 of Liveman. Not that bad of a show to be honest. Probably the second Showa toku show I've enjoyed the most so far (Black being the first). I question how they were able to build power suits that come with a transformation device, weapons, and giant robots in two years though, that just seems a little out there. But this is toku, so I really shouldn't question it. I don't like the suits that much as I think there's too much white, especially from the waist down. The only suit which looks really nice to me is Blue Dolphin's since it has the stripe on the skirt to break it all up.
But overall I'm enjoying the show. It isn't that bad of one and it is entertaining.

The project had already started somewhat, it was just altered when they realised Volt could be a threat. And given that they were all super geniuses, 2 years probably isn't much for them as long as they had the materials to do what was needed.

Jetman's Love Explosion.
I hate love triangles (Squares? I dunno) so much. Even when they're well done, they're tedious and dull because, inevitably, one character (In this case, Gai) will be defined by the love shape, while the character being fought over (Kaori) will seem rather heartless. I once noted that I liked that Kaori wasn't stringing along the character with the crush that she doesn't like, while in this episode she does exactly that. Gai is thick headed enough to point his anger towards Ryu and is convinced he can win over Kaori, but Kaori is really becoming more of an antagonist, not realizing that she can be friends with Gai while still telling him her true feelings. Instead being ambiguous when speaking with him, never giving him a straight answer concerning her feelings towards him. Add Raita's crush into the mix and you just have a clusterfuck. It's tedious, and Ryu's stupidity is making it worse. I understand he's still grieving over losing what's her name, but he's almost as bad as Kaori, stringing her along rather than telling her he isn't interested. He chooses to be as ambiguous and dodgy as possible. And that's why I hate love triangles. It's clear the writers wanted to have conflict within the team, but they didn't want Gai to seem needlessly abrasive, so they did what any drama would do. A love triangle. Creates pointless drama where there was none, and because it's love (Thus, acts of passion), the "They should just talk it out" excuse isn't valid. While Jetman's isn't really that bad, it just seems that they tread the same ground over and over with it. Kaori: "I love Ryu!" *Gets shot down by Ryu ignoring her advances. She then runs off crying* Gai: "I love Kaori!" *Chases after her and comforts her. Kaori thanks him then runs off to win over Ryu again* Ryu: "...VYRAM!" *Fight scene that has them working together in perfect harmony as if they weren't just trying to kill each other 30 seconds ago* Oh, and Semimaru hatched.

Anyway, Jet Garuda and warriors from another dimension, and Jet Icarus was heavily damaged while Semimaru goes on a tear. There isn't much to note, but I do enjoy Jet Garuda's design more than Jet Icarus. Looks cooler, and the jet mode has more to it. As for the new characters, no names or anything. I did like that they actually got along with the team (I'm rather used to new characters who have a history with same villains to be like "Stay out of it. You guys suck the big one. We'll handle them and win this fight" and just be general cocky assholes), making it rather interesting.
