This thread is a reference source for items, scenes or dialogue from past Super Sentai titles used in Akibaranger Season 2. As many elements from Season 1 have been carried over, please visit the Season 1 Reference Thread.
Updates will be done periodically. If I missed anything, post them below and help me out on expanding this list. Will need a lot of help identifying all of the toys on display at Sentai Café Himitsukichi, especially the arsenal wall. Himitsu Sentai Goranger * In episode 11, the Super Malseena Series has her first season incarnation listed as "Black Cross Queen Malseena", based on Black Cross Führer. J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai * In episode 11, the Super Malseena Series has her second season incarnation listed as "Crime Empress Malseena", based on Crime Boss Iron Claw. Battle Fever J * In episode 3, when Kiba Ranger does his Midare Yamabiko attack on the Akibarangers and China Red, he summons MoJo to sing the Battle Fever J opening theme. * In episode 5, Akagi explains that American film director George Spielburton gave a bad actress a role in one of his films after she told him she was a fan of Diane Martin, the first Miss America. * In episode 11, the Super Malseena Series has her third season incarnation listed as "Heretic Priestess Malseena", based on Satan Egos. Sun Vulcan Robo" for episode 2's ending credits. * In episode 3, General Two references Queen Hedrian's resurrection in the Arctic Ocean after supposedly being killed off in Denshi Sentai Denjiman as his attempt to explain Malseena's return in Akibaranger Season 2. * Smartphone Monger of episode 4 is an homage to Black Magma's Machine Lifeforms. * In episode 4, General Two mentions that the Smartphone Monger's LCD screen is powerful enough to deflect even the New Vulcan Ball's attack. * In episode 4, Akiba Red and Akiba Yellow use attacks on Smartphone Monger inspired by Vul Eagle and Vul Panther, respectively, while singing Sun Vulcan's first ending theme "Wakasa wa Plasma". * In episode 5, Akagi references Queen Hedrian's "dance of greed" from episode 15 of Sun Vulcan in explaining how Akina Maihama beat Luna in the movie auditions. * In episode 11, Malseena is dressed as Queen Hedirian in one of the Super Malseena Series promo posters. Her movie is titled Machine Empress Malseena vs. Taiyo Sentai. * In the episode 12 ending credits, the Akibarangers pose with Sun Vulcan in one of the pictures. This is in reference to episode 46 being a pre-Christmas episode. In modern Super Sentai times, a new giant robot is introduced to help boost ratings and toy sales, but titles before Choushinsei Flashman did not have this trope; thus General Two places the Akibarangers in a vulnerable position by destroying Itashar Robo. * Coelacanth Kans from episode 9 is an homage to the Mecha Gigans of Neo Empire Gear. Akagi explains to Luna that Gear always released Mecha Gigans before the monsters of the week. * In episode 9, the Bio Robo theme plays when Machine Itashar transforms into Itashar Robo. * In episode 9, posters of Bio Hunter Silva are pasted on the walls as the Akibarangers run from Coelacanth Kans. * Akiba Red recommends the Bioman encyclopedia in his episode 10 roll call. * In episode 13, Yellow Four I is one of the three Super Sentai ghosts seen with the Akibarangers. Meanwhile, Akiba Blue and Akiba Yellow set up a background imitating the climactic sunset duel between Change Dragon and Buba. Choushinsei Flashman * In the ending credits, the Akibarangers, Hiroyo and Kozukozu have a picnic atop Flash King in one of the pictures. * In episode 6, Akagi references Mag while talking about his crush on Liveman's robot assistant Colon. Choujuu Sentai Liveman * Yuru-Chara Jigen of episode 6 resembles The Livemen's robot assistant Colon, which results in Akagi revealing his weakness for robot girls. Furthermore, Akagi reveals he developed a crush on Colon after watching episodes 13 and 23 of Liveman while he was in kindergarten. * Mutoumushite from episode 8 uses Doctor Ashura's Cut Asscher attack. Kousoku Sentai Turboranger * In the ending credits, Akagi does the pyramid pose with the Turborangers in one of the pictures. * Akiba Red recommends Turboranger episode 1's Super Sentai gathering in his episode 1 roll call. * In episode 6, Choco-tan sings the Turboranger theme in one of her idol broadcasts. Kyouryuu Sentai Zyuranger * In episode 5, Tyranno Ranger and Dragon Ranger are seen wearing American flag collars and belts, referencing the pre-production models of the S.H. Figuarts figures of them. This is also a jab at Haim Saban's "Americanization" of the Super Sentai series with Power Rangers. * Akiba Red recommends Dragon Caesar's theme song in his episode 5 roll call. * The Zyurangers' Outrageous Power is the Zyuren Buckler, which resembles the Dino Buckler and unleashes the Dinosaur Power Attack. * In episode 11, Malseena is dressed as Witch Bandora in one of the Super Malseena Series promo posters. * In episode 11, Akagi is seen wearing a Tyranno Ranger t-shirt while sulking in his closet. * Malseena sings "Dolla! ~Majo Bandora no Theme~" for episode 11's ending credits. Engine Sentai Go-onger * In the ending credits, there is a picture of the Akibarangers with the Go-ongers aboard the Engine-oh G6 cockpit. * In the ending credits, a picture of Machine Itashar in front of the Engines is seen. * In episode 9, General Two gives Yuko a script of his creation, "Grand Prix 33.5: Gold Green Wedding". The title triggers Yuko's yaoi tendencies. The script references a common Super Sentai trope of having an Autumn episode that involves weddings and/or bride kidnappings. Samurai Sentai Shinkenger * DaiGoyou is on display on the bookshelf at the café. * Luna, Yuko, Malseena and Akagi sing "Shinken Matsuri" for episode 7's ending credits. * In episode 9, General Two gives Akagi a script of his creation, "episode 22.5: The Bathing Suit Beauty of Hana Island". Yuko comments that such fan service would not be approved by Yasuko Kobayashi, the show's writer. As Akagi reads the script, a group of Kuroko appear behind him, setting up a beach background while one of them plays some background music. The script references a common Super Sentai trope of having a Summer vacation episode. * It was reported on blogs that Doukoku Chimatsuri was planned to appear in the series, with Ryo Hirokawa reprising his voice role. However, this plan was scrapped, as the Doukoku suit was still in New Zealand following the completion of Power Rangers Samurai. Tensou Sentai Goseiger None. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger * In episode 3, Akiba Yellow comments that when it comes to loving Super Sentai, the Akibarangers are just as good as a "certain swashbuckling Silver guy." This is a reference to Gai Ikari/Gokai Silver, who is a Super Sentai geek in Gokaiger. * In episode 10, Kameari Alpaca shoots himself in the chest to give the Akibarangers a weak spot to target. This is the same tactic used by Kiaido in episode 28 of Gokaiger, as well as other villains written by Toshiki Inoue. Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters * In episode 8, a timer called the "Mousou Completion Time" appears on the lower right corner. This is a parody of the Megazord countdown timer in Go-Busters. Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger * The Evil Sentai Malseena opening sequence in episode 11 is a parody of Kyoryuger's opening title. (Gosei Sentai) Akibaranger * In episodes 1-3, the continuity has been warped to make Akibaranger into the 17th official Super Sentai, displacing Gosei Sentai Dairanger out of the picture. Because of this, Akibaranger suddenly generates a plethora of merchandise such as: ** Akibalaser - The MMZ-01 Moe Moe Z-Cune in gun form only. ** Akivulcan Robo - A repainted Itashar Robo in red, blue and yellow. Its name is a parody of Sun Vulcan Robo of Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan. ** Akibameteor Cannon - The Daisoreta Cannon with the individual parts renamed Akiba Wapper, Akiba Scooper and Akiba Winger. ** Akibaranger Delusion Video - The VHS copy seen in episode 2 is titled "Nagoya Attraction #5: Speed Eating Contest". This is a joke by writer Naruhisa Arakawa, who is a Nagoya native. * In episode 3, a Wikipedia article on Gosei Sentai Akibaranger states that it was canceled after 13 episodes (the actual episode count of Hikounin Sentai Akibaranger season 1) due to storylines by Naruhisa Arakawa and Toshiki Inoue alienating Super Sentai fans. This is a loose jab on the mismanagement of Kamen Rider Hibiki and Inoue's reputation towards tokusatsu fans. It also pokes fun at the fact that "dark" titles such as J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai, Chouriki Sentai Ohranger, Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger and Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters suffered from low ratings. Hikounin Kyoujin Prism Ace * In episode 12, the Super Sentai continuity faces cancellation after a spy sent by Chigauyo Productions (a parody of Tsuburaya Productions) tricks Saburo Hatte into signing a contract for their new series Prism Ace (a parody of Ultraman). * The name Chigauyo Productions may be a jab at Chaiyo Productions, the Thailand-based studio that had a legal battle with Tsuburaya Productions over the international Ultraman copyrights for over a decade until the final ruling gave Tsubaraya complete ownership of Ultraman in 2008. Guest Cameos * Yuu Kamio, who previously portrayed Kiyoto Maki in Kamen Rider OOO, plays the toy store owner in episode 1. * Mitsuko Horie, a veteran anime and tokusatsu singer whose career spans nearly five decades, plays Yasuko Yokoyama in episode 4. * Sakina Kuwae, who previously played Natsume Masaki in Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger, plays the evil aspiring idol Akina Maihama in episode 5. * Veteran action director Koichi Sakamoto guest stars as George Spielburton in episode 5 * Yoshinori Okamoto, a veteran suit actor who has played various Super Sentai villains, guest stars as himself in episode 8. * Taito Hashimoto, who previously played Kazari in Kamen Rider OOO, plays a customer at Karaoke Box in episode 8. * Yuka Hirata, who previously played Mele in Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger, plays Nurse Hirata in episodes 10-11. Miscellaneous * Veteran director Katsuya Watanabe's autograph hangs on the wall on the café. * In the ending credits, Malseena poses with Bio Hunter Silva, Yaiba of Darkness, Land Pollution Minister Yogostein, Buredoran of Chimatsuri, Agent Abrella and Rio in one of the pictures. * In the ending credits of episode 1-3, the Super Sentai Reds posing with the Akibarangers in the final picture are: ** (Back row) Go Red, Red Turbo, Red Mask, Red Flash, Ninja Red, OhRed, Red Racer, Mega Red, Ginga Red ** (Front row) Five Red, Change Dragon, Red One, Dyna Red, Goggle Red, Vul Eagle, Red Falcon, Red Hawk, Tyranno Ranger, Ryu Ranger, Time Red * Yasuko Yokoyama's former stage name Etsuko Horimi is an amalgamation of Mitsuko Horie. * Episode 4's ending theme "Cap-tan Chu-chu-chu" by Mitsuko Horie is a parody of the Ninja Captor opening theme. * The American film director in episode 5 is named "George Spielburton" (a play on George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Tim Burton). * The final picture in the ending credits of episodes 5-7 has the Akibarangers posing with Aka Red. * Choco Nagakawa from episode 6 is named after real-life idol Shoko Nakagawa. * In episode 8, when the Akibarangers first meet Yoshinori Okamoto, Luna mistakes him for Jiro Okamoto, another veteran suit actor. * In episode 9, when Coelacanth Kans appears, Akagi references mecha designer Yutaka Izubuchi, who did some of the monster designs for Dynaman, Bioman and Changeman. * Itashar Boy from episode 9 is an homage to the junior-sized "Boy" robots of the Super Sentai series: Titan Boy (Choushinsei Flashman), Tetra Boy (Choujin Sentai Jetman), Tackle Boy (Chouriki Sentai Ohranger) and Liner Boy (KyuuKyuu Sentai GoGoFive). * In episode 9, when Akagi is being controlled to kiss Luna, Luna tells him she won't kiss anyone unless they are signed with a rival talent agency. Technically, she'd probably allow this, as Shione Sawada is signed with Stardust Promotion and Masato Wada is with Watanabe Pro. * In episode 9, Malseena appears as a nurse. In real life, Honoka has an actual nursing license. * In episode 12, Hiroyo tells Akiba Red that he is on the left side of the battlefield during his fight with Prism Ace. Tokusatsu follows Japanese theater, wherein the flow of battle goes from right to left. Cho Akiba Red further illustrates the tradition with pictures of the Flashmen, Maskmen, Changemen and Gekirangers using their bazookas, along with silhouettes of Kamen Rider Double and a figure doing an Ultraman pose. Yuko Yokoyama's Cosplay Outfits * Cat Girl - Opening sequence, ep. 2, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13 and most promotional materials * White Racer (Gekisou Sentai Carranger) - Episode 1 * Furabijo (Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger) - Episode 1 * Cabaret Girl - Episode 4 * Green-haired Soldier Girl (possible Keroro Gunso reference) - Episode 5 * Red-haired Z Hero - Episode 6 * Blonde Police Girl - Episode 8 * Male Cheerleader - Episode 9 * Lamb Girl - Episode 11 Sentai Café Himitsukichi Cosplaying with Kozukozu * Hikaru (Mahou Sentai Magiranger) - Opening sequence * Mari Gold (Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger) - Episode 1 * Mei (Kyouyuu Sentai Zyuranger) - Episode 1 * Takeru Shiba (Samurai Sentai Shinkenger) - Episodes 1-2 * Sen-ichi "Sen-chan" Enari (Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger) - Episode 4 * Jyan Kandou (Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger) - Episode 5 * Satoru Akashi (GoGo Sentai Boukenger) - Episode 6 * Kouta Bitou (Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger) - Episode 7 * Sotaro Ushigome (Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger) - Episode 7 * Renn Kosaka (Engine Sentai Go-onger) - Episode 7 * Yukito Sanjo (Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger) - Episode 8 * EDF Officer (Dengeki Sentai Changeman) - Episode 9 * Eiji Takoka (GoGo Sentai Boukenger) - Episode 10 * Gou Fukami (Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger) - Episode 10 * Tsubasa Ozu (Mahou Sentai Magiranger) - Episodes 10-11 * Chiaki Tani (Samurai Sentai Shinkenger) - Episodes 11-12 * Hikaru (Seijuu Sentai Gingaman) - Episode 13 Cast Info * Masato Wada (和田 正人, born August 25, 1979 in Kochi Prefecture) is a veteran actor and singer known for his role as Sengoku Kiyosumi in The Prince of Tennis musicals and is currently the oldest member in Watanabe Entertainment's all-male idol group D-BOYS. * Kyoko Hinami (日南 響子, born February 6, 1994 in Aichi Prefecture) is an actress and gravure idol. Didn't they have that timer in one episode? I think it was 11, but it looked a lot like the count down timer they use in Go-Busters

The Go-Busters reference was in episode 8, not 11.
By the way, there's also one more Gokaiger reference: in the final episode, there's this narration, you know who they meant: |
