I'm a bit of an eBay lurker - For a while I've come across these DVDs people sell. My kneejerk response is "They're probably bootlegs." but I checked out the descriptions and images of them, and from what I can tell, they are the following;
- Malaysian-approved ("Malaysian Censorship Board" to be exact) - Region free (So someone like me can actually use them) - With English subtitles (And judging by the premises on the back cover, their English is acceptable) You can find some for Fourze right now where it's split up into volumes, like episodes 1-6 and whathaveyou, but then there's other Heisei series like Kuuga; http://www.ebay.com/itm/KAMEN-RIDER-...-/130711195910 - Full 1-50 episode set. And not for a terrible price either. So I must admit, I'm tempted by these offers. Anyone here own any of these? I'd like to have some feedback so I know if these are safe to check out. Cause I'm considering maybe slowly collecting each show this way. |

I'm pretty sure they're bootlegs. Most of the ones you're talking about go for like twenty dollars for an entire season, while the official DVDs go for like seventy dollars just for one volume (consisting of like three - four episodes).
I can't say with one hundred percent certainty, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. The price is just far too good to be true. Also, don't be fooled by text on the box. It isn't that difficult to be able to copy some text from the internet, and place it on the box. Last edited by Flare Phoenix; 07-09-2012 at 06:47 AM.. |

There are no such things as Malaysian approved DVDs.
Plus, they have Chinese subtitles, which is a dead giveaway they are bootlegs. As for the English subtitles, the grammar is pretty piss poor. Also, most of the DVDs are tv rips, and they have a tendency to be missing half of an episode. |

Hmm I've heard from a friend who's got this specific set. He says they're alright but does mention the bad translation, with names such as "Wudai" for Godai Yusuke. That's a real shame, I was hoping to own some legit Kamen Rider episodes to support the series. :/ Oh well. Thanks for your feedback.
