I can't believe the only "correctly-proportioned" Gridknight toy is either the minipla one or the HAF. I'm this close to just grabbing the Figma, but I really want one that doesn't have big shoulders.

At least that's what I hope, even if I didn’t like the video I hope he didn’t get bullied or something. People get way too crazy on YouTube. Or the internet in general. Yeah - after the recent Dynazenon episode I kind of thought about getting a Gridknight figure but there really are none out there that I like. |

Personally I'd say give the Figma a chance even with the stylized look. The way he and Gridman can move is insane given the line they're a part of.

Got my Dynazenon set in today and put him in to both combined modes.
Quick verdict: Leagues better than DX Full-Powered Gridman in every aspect. As for long thoughts: Each component feels solid. Dyna Soldier is a really sturdy little articulated robot. Dyna Wing's wing joints are notched for stability when you need to reposition them for certain formations and the helmet connects to the main body practically seamlessly. Dyna Striker's a solid little race car that you wouldn't think could split apart. Dyna Diver's obviously the least interesting of the set but the missile pod action feature works super-well in hand. Only draw back to it is the mechanism can sometimes make it impossible to close a hatch or two without re-activating the feature first so the latches can reset. Combinations: The sequence for both Dynazenon and Dyna Rex is involved but not difficult. Most of the transformation comes from Dyna Soldier who pulls it off extremely well in both sequences. He's got a lot of engineering packed into him to pull off both the robot torso and the rex upper torso and head. Claws on both hands and feet are sharp though so be cautious. Dyna Wing's connections onto Soldier are also fairly secure. The robot torso formation is rock-solid thanks to how they form a block via Soldier's shoulders and Wing's groove areas. Same with the tabs, which connect via slightly-mushroomed pegs. Wings are ratcheted as mentioned, so no drooping whatsoever in Dragon mode. The hidden flairs within the wings are a great touch too, I didn't even realize they opened up. Dyna Diver's leg formation for both forms is straight forward. The knees can bend deeply which is also used to pull off the digitigrade legs for Rex mode. The ball joint ankles in both mode are tight and have great range along with a good foot print for stability. Only downside is that there's no thigh swivel whatsoever. The legs can splay out just enough to get him looking natural or ready for action, but don't expect replicating all the flip and kick poses Dynazenon does in the show. Dyna Striker's connection in robot mode is, again, straight forward. Connecting them to the Soldier arms grants you ratchet joints moving outward which, again, is great for stability. It'd recommend moving them carefully and at the shoulders though so you're not just putting all the pressure on the arm. You'll disconnect them that way. Elbows have great range, wrists can bend inward thanks to a hinge that helps with natural posing. And its connection in Rex mode is wild. Sturdy despite only connecting via two tabs on the sides of the waist. Doesn't feel weak at all. Only QC complaint I really have outside of the slight missile hatch problem is that the skirt armor pieces attached to Wing can pop off their ball joints a bit too easily if bent the wrong way, but otherwise pop back on easily and stay in place. All the other connections feel good and I can pick both modes up and give them a shake without hearing jiggling plastic or risking parts falling off. Overall, I really like him. He looks good in both modes, the individual parts are charming and fun on-top of basically being Show replicas, it's an overall way more functional piece than DX Gridman despite its design limitations. Does it feel like a $200 product? Not completely to me. But I'm not complaining. I think most are gonna enjoy him once they get him in-hand.

So, I'm guessing the Gigan-techs GridKnight is to pair with this one, huh? Gridknight/man were very small next to it.

Gigan-techs is gonna be way too big for this. The comparison shot I saw for Knight had him at about a quarter taller than Dynazenon.
So there's no real scale companion for him. I don't mind the look of Figma Gridknight and Gridman beside him since him being bigger makes more sense to me than being the same size, so I can overlook the canon sizes personally.

A second run will be coming soon. Perhaps with some fixes...

Well I was having some regrets not ordering this after enjoying the show and hearing it's well executed. So that'll be nice.

I mean the only fix I can think of is tighter ball joint connections on Dyna Wing's hip armor pieces. Maybe slightly tighter connections for the waist, not that it desperately needs it...
Again, this isn't DX Gridman. If anyone says its a mess, trust me it's not. Having put it together and taken it apart myself and seeing where the drawbacks are, it's solid overall.

Well if the 2nd run is improved in any way, I'm definitely in.
