I can never get enough of how the Den-O cards/forms are basically just joke forms that are only good for posing and catchphrases that, outside the Den-O universe, make even less sense in context. And Masahiro Inoue having to actually say the lines convincingly only to then have to portray Tsukasa realizing what he'd just done and gotten stuck with as he looks like a crazy idiot was priceless.
I think there were some actual Attack Ride cards that summoned their weapons or something but Tsukasa never used them in the show which makes it even more hilarious. |

If I was Decade, and this was my first experience with Den-O's Attack Rides? I would never try them ever again under any circumstances.

One thing I want to point out is that this is the first instance of Diend summons being the real riders. Since majority of time there just dummies with no real character behind them. It inconsistent and it just happens on occasion. On that note Psyga definitely not voice by his original actor Peter Ho however Ixa is voiced Nago himself, Though unfortunately neither actors have been credited. There is a theory that delves into the how and into why this happened. The answer is simple Ganbarizing the Cardass Arcade Game that laucehnched with Decade. Nago/Ixa voice here could simply taken straight from the games files as some sort weird tie in to the game and wasn’t credited as a result. As for Psyga again he isn’t voice by the original actor because he obviously has completely different accent and well the general idea is just some of Diend summons can talk. Sorry for the weird tangent

New Den-O's suit looks cool. But Kabuto's suit has a function that just makes it even better.
Not only did I actually enjoy the Kabuto arc (despite being not quite how it is in the actual show, but that's just how these AR worlds roll), but this made me want to watch Kabuto (which I've yet to see), but from aesthetics and suit designs looks fantastic. And as mentioned before, Kabuto's horn function on the suit is one of the coolest features, but heck, all of the Kabuto Riders look amazing. I do recall that, either the writer or director really wanted to do the whole trapped in Clock-Up scenario, but looking back on it, it feels like classic Showa Kamen Rider's tragic heroes. He's lost his ability to remain by his sister's side and works as the sole hero in this world under invasion by the worms, which I think is a really nice detail. And of course, I can't forget the brilliant Attack Ride cards (I realize I haven't brought those up, but I love the concept behind them) from Den-O's Imagin, which is just straight up their catchphrases and signature poses. And what made it better was the reactions from everyone when he tried to use them, and him just like "this is absolutely useless!" I really do need to find time to actually watch more Rider and Sentai shows, because a lot of these really get you interested in watching their respective seasons. |

As jumbled as that soup metaphor ends up being taken at face value, the whole point of it, and these episodes, is how a bond can still exist even between people who are separated, and even if that wasn't the only major theme in Kabuto, or the one you remember, that doesn't erase how significant the line "It's okay. I'll be by your side" was to that series. Having a version of Kabuto literally trapped in Clock-Up is essentially an exaggerated way to explore that same idea in a much shorter timeframe, which arguably makes it perfect as a concept for Decade's tribute to Kabuto.

I vehemently disagree with this. The theme these episodes chose is something that comes straight out of Kabuto, that stems from a conversation Juka and Hiyori have as early as episode 6, which eventually carries through all the way to the final scenes of the show. "When not close by, one is even closer", and all that.

I guess I just don't think of it that way? I never really took to the revelation that Hiyori was Tendou's sister, so that colors a lot of what the show might think is relevant to the story versus what I thought was relevant. I always liked it better when Tendou and Hiyori had a connection that wasn't familial, wasn't obligatory. I liked them as two people who found something worth celebrating in the other, even if no one else could see it. A way of seeing value intrinsic to a person, rather than a measurement of their usefulness to society. I could probably try and explain or defend it better, but I'm okay just being wrong on this. I probably should've used a different phrasing, or thought that sentence through better. Sorry!

So now I'm caught up, I have a question not really about the episodes themselves, but about the ordering of Decade's journey through the Nine Worlds. How do people think it flows? How do you feel about Hibiki being left till the end? What does Diend's prescense add to the worlds in the latter half?
In personal news, I've binged the Agito, Den-O, and Kabuto arcs. They're an interesting mix. The Agito one is probably the most interesting, in how in reinvents the original series, giving Yuusuke some relevance, and even playing into the original "Is Agito a Kuuga sequel" fun. Den-O is obviously set-up for Den-MomOtaros edition, but it's always fun to have the Imagin back, even if by the end it's incredibly obvious movie setup. Also, Sieg. Kabuto, I don't have much to say about? It's cool to watch, but I struggled to get involved with the emotional core this time round, although Tsukasa bonding with Worm!Sister was cute.

That said, I think the series has done a great job of using specific elements of each show to evolve Tsukasa in a logical, compelling way. He's gone from being a dismissive loner who doesn't see himself as a hero to a teammate willing to get involved in bad situations if he thinks he can make them better. Did Kiva need to be the second tribute in order to make that happen? Probably not, but Decade made it work. Diend's presence is to introduce a love interest.
