I would chill guys, this is less severe for you as a viewer than you think. If the subbing groups don't use their websites to distribute their releases then they'll just so it elsewhere. I think we already have confirmation that Over-Time will do exactly that.
And even if not - IzuSubs for example only publishes the subtitles for Saber as a separate file, you need to get the RAW yourself and then merge them. I think that's clever, subtitles without the actual content attached is easy to share and you don't really publish someone elses property. The RAWs can be shared via known networks which lessens the chance of lawyers targeting subbing groups like they're doing now. Or everything is back to normal within two weeks. What I'm saying is, subs won't go away. The people who make them just need to make sure they're safe. Don't doomsay your hobby, I hardly believe we will miss out on anything. |

As long as they don’t actually post links or host stuff they're fine, and fans can help themselves by telling others where to find their releases. |

I've personally never seen any purpose in following a sub group's website to begin with - you will always be able to figure out whether or not an episode has been subbed via twitter, reddit, or even this website. toei genuinely cannot stop anyone from pirating media via nyaa(people have been watching anime this way for god knows how fucking long) and all it takes is for someone to tell you, even indirectly, that the newest episode has been subbed and uploaded. even if not for that, you would have ended up torrenting the episode from nyaa anyways, so why the fuck does it matter? full-length episodes in 1080p are too big to be available as direct downloads, so you will always end up having to torrent them, anyways. it seriously feels like people are just using this as a catalyst to cry about kamen rider's popularity outside of japan - when in actuality, it literally has nothing to do with that. Yeah Nyaa exists. I use Nyaa all the time.
But the circumstances behind why this potential change-up even needs to happen is what's upsetting people. It's not "Now where can I get my subs?", it's "Wow, Toei legit just tried to smash the fansub community's knees in despite the fact that they're the whole reason they get money from the west in the first place." It's how it makes Toei's view of their international audience look, which isn't very good. Of course these groups will use workarounds, but that doesn't change the fact that Toei ended up souring their relationship with international followers pretty badly, even if it's in their right to threaten legal action.

Unfortunately the only Sentai shows that are available for international streaming are the ones licensed by Shout found here: https://www.shoutfactorytv.com/tv/tokushoutsu
If only they kept up releasing more Sentai shows this issue wouldn't be that big for Sentai. |

As I don't like torrents, I do really hope that Over-Time, IzuSubs, TripleS Fansubs, Genmcorp and other sub groups be will released on Kissasaian, TokuFun, KRDL, Mega, Google Drive, Zekozimo, etc as well.

Maybe not now, but what's not to stop this thing from putting off potential new subbers from subbing future shows because they're scared in getting C&D'd.

hell, nothing is stopping anyone from doing what IzuSubs(who is a new subber, btw, since they've only started subbing since Zero-One) has done with Zero-One and Saber, which is strictly uploading the sub files, and leaving it to you to find the raw video file. IzuSubs has not commented on the C&D letters and I doubt he ever will have to worry about it, because nothing on his website is illegal. the uploader of the raw video file would have to do it discreetly - which literally just means they cannot announce that they're doing it or that it's been done. easy as that. anime subbers have never had a problem with this, either, because they aren't getting paid to do this anyways, so what good is publicity? there's also NonActionableFansubs, who has almost exclusively uploaded random Kamen Rider side/bonus material on nyaa, and you would never hear about them outside of that website. again, no law inhibits what they're doing. in fact, they've even started uploading again(and Saber episodes, at that), today. crazy how that works, right? the C&D letters literally have nothing to do with whether or not you're allowed to sub a series. do you have trouble following what's already been posted here?
