Did I just see Vice make a Hokuto no ken reference ?
Best KR episode ever xD Also I like the vibes Daiji is giving for this second ep. He is a decent non rider support like Ichijo in Kuuga for example. Last edited by Omnikaiser; 09-12-2021 at 12:49 AM.. |

The OP rules!! Honestly, a really slick OP is something I don't realise I look forward to every new show but it really is always something so exciting.
Also even more Momotaros comparisons in this one, with our human getting themselves beat up to get the monster to play nice. |

Bruh, Vice straight up stole the Gundyphone from Daiji. This is somehow even funnier to me that in should be.
I dunno, I thought Vice was gonna be annoying, which I suppose some people might see him as, but so far he's the most engaging character to me. I actually kind of like him. Wild card characters are fun. Meanwhile Ikki playing the straight man to Vice's funny man is brilliant.

- First things first, that opening rules. The visuals are properly slick the way I like, and liveDevil is a fantastic theme song. The unique style of it makes an immediate impact, and Fujibayashi's lyrics, as usual, make it sound like she's already seen the entire show somehow, and managed to condense the entire thing into a couple minutes. This is absolutely going to be one of those cases where the song just makes more and more sense the further along we get in the story, and I love when that happens.
- This was pretty much everything I want out of a second episode of a Rider show. It digs a lot deeper into what the dynamic of the main characters is going to be like, shows some heroic resolve from the protagonist, and in this particular case, underlines how unheroic one half of Revice is. I think it's great how much they stress that Vice really does live up to that name, and at least for now, is absolutely not a monster with a hidden heart of gold. He's about nothing beyond surface pleasures, and could only be considered a neutral force at his absolute best. And Vice is very rarely at his absolute best. There's a lot of pressure put on Ikki, and the both of them become more compelling characters through all this. - It was also cute that the monster of the week plot plays off of the partnership theme a bit by being about two people having trouble working together. - I loved how the fights in this one took place in unusual locations? I can't think of any other Rider battles we've had at a driving range, and I'm glad we got a scene of Revi throwing Vice around in the tub. It's just visually interesting, you know? It's always nice whenever Rider can take a break from the usual samey locations, even though I like those too.

I wonder why I'm still not excited for this show. Nothing with the show, tho. I even Love how Ikki decide not to henshin, but still fight nevertheless, eventough its noy his obligation. Is this what a tokuburnout feels like?

Quite possibly? I mean, I'm enjoying it so far but not as much as previous series debuts and am planning to drop Revice in a few episodes as I'm tired of keeping up to date with weekly releases. Maybe it's the same case for you?

It's very brief but it's interesting how Vice briefly does Double's signature pose. I wonder if this is gonna become like a thing where Vice briefly does the Genome's Kamen Rider pose before putting his own dumb spin on it.

It seems IzuSubs is translating the text message scenes during the henshin sequences on their website, which is nice. I'm gonna copy and paste them here for convenience sake.
First henshin in the golf range: Vice: Here it comes! It’s Henshin time! Ikki: Pipe down! Vice: Hurry up already! I can’t wait any longer! Ikki: I get it already, so sit still! Vice: The entire country’s waiting on my showtime! Ikki: Yeah right! Vice: Ah~ You jealous? Ikki: That’s enough out of you! Eagle Genome henshin: Vice: Woo! Got a sudden craving for flying! I wanna feel the wind real bad! Ikki: Oi, you were trying to eat Daiji, weren’t you!? Vice: Hey, demons get hungry too, you know! Ikki: You better stop pulling this sh*t! And get ready for a real scolding! Henshin after Vice agrees to stop attacking humans: Ikki: You better follow what I say, you hear!? Vice: Lay off already! The demon of justice Vice has just been born today! Ikki: Sounds dubious to me. Vice: From now on, I fight for love, bravery, dreams, hope, the future and the people! Ikki: You’re making it worse! Vice: Demons always keep their word! Ikki: I’m gonna hold you to that! Vice: Aye’aye sir! Personally, these text messages are really neat additions and just adds some more quirkiness to the whole stamp theme of the show (again, 'stamps' are also the names of emotes that you can use in Line, a popular messaging app in Japan).
