I have Direct TV, like I'm sure some of you do. Yesterday I learned through the Info Channels beneath each Viacom owned channel that we may lose service because of a rate increase wanted by Viacom for their channels. Well. The worst happened, and Viacom pulled all their channels off Direct TV. NickToons, and Nickeloedeon included. Hopefully this gets resolved soon.
Hopefully before Megaforce starts or you will see a nerdrage unlike has ever been recorded before. Just sayin'. |

Meh. It happened to Dish Network in 2004, and that whole blackout lasted all but two days. If you have satellite TV service, get used to networks disagreeing with your provider.

I have cable but I dislike Viacom's business practices. It makes me angry that they seem to get greedier by the year. I'm amazed that people still support the company given their history of hissy fits and just plain ol' money grubbing.

Bummer. Sucks that Viacom is being this way about money. I hope Area's right too as it's not fun having to lose channels because of service drama.

Look at it this way: Viacom's shares will drop dramatically if this persists. Viacom has done one too many mistakes over the past decade other than picking fights with satellite and cable providers, such as dropping Blu-ray for HD-DVD in 2007 and suing Google/YouTube for $1 billion. They'll need to save face and continue doing business with DirecTV.

Still, if enough people are willing to stand up to Viacom they may change their ways, but that may be a pipe dream at best. |
