I think I'd have to go with Fourze here. Specifically, Gentaro's death. I, much like many others, went into the show thinking he looked goofy and just not generally expecting a lot. And at first he was pretty much just a goofball. But the show really developed and went somewhere, and I think killing Gentaro - even if only for one episode - proved that. It was completely unexpected and it helped remold the two Riders of that show. It was impactful and memorable.... And led to the debut of Cosmic States, whose finishing move was totally awesome.

I think my favorite toku moment of this year had to be the ending of the second garo series. Nothing like getting the character moment I've wanted since I watched the end of the first Garo. Second to that would have to be Super Hero Taisen. I honestly thought it was a decent movie. Not perfect, but not horrible.

God, I'm having trouble deciding.
Between Gokaiger vs. Gavan, Megamax, and the end of Gokaiger. Guess I gotta go with Gokaiger's ending. Both the (semi) Zyuranger tribute we got at the last second with Goushi and Armed Tyrannoranger and Akaranger's appearance at the end. Even though my nostalgia lies with Power Rangers, it pulled all the right fanboy heart-strings for me. |

Easy, the final episode of Gokaiger, when they henshin'd without the helmets on.You knew at that point that it was all or nothing. But you still knew that somehow they were gonna win.

I would say Gokaiger altogether (The Show, The Film, The Hyper Battle Video, etc.) because they had such wonderful moments in the show as well as the various Gokai Changes the Gokaigers utilized.

I can't remember now if this was something from 2011 or 2012, but I LOVED Megamax. After the mediocre display that was Movie War Core, I was so jazzed to watch Megamax be awesome scene after awesome scene. Some folks just do not like Fourze's story in it but I thought it was good. Either way it does give you the lovely quote; "There's only two moments when a man can cry; When your wallet gets stolen, or when a girl dumps you. What happens when she's an alien??" - Fantastic action, probably the best use of the Showa Riders in recent years (given that they're usually barely speaking in any of their appearances), and you get some awesome new suits all over the place that I'd like to own figures of. Come ooooon Aqua...
Incidentally, if that movie came out on DVD in 2011, then a close second would be the first two-parter for Kamen Rider Wizard, episodes 2 and 3. I think this may be my favorite arc right now. It really does a nice job of introducing Shunpei's character, making you grow to like him for his ambition, his hopes, his dreams... then it's all crushed. He's made to set fire to the book that he believed in all of his life. Watching it play out that way kind of made me feel bad for the poor guy. That's when I knew I was gonna love this show, when it was able to make me care that quickly. It didn't really take me long to grow to like any of the characters, really. This arc even made me like Wajima more, since episode 1 didn't really have a whole lot of screentime for him. Looking forward to seeing how the contest goes. Good luck everyone! |

First, thanks for doing this contest, guys. I'm having fun reading everyone's answers and most are moments that I do agree were pretty cool!
As for mine, well, it has to be the Sentai Legendary War with all the rangers from years past. I love that they were able to pull this off and the result was great!! It's also that which leads to my other truly awesome moment of 2012 and that is the Youtube video taken from Power Morphicon '12 where they tease Megaforce to the audience. More specifically when they show the Legendary War footage and the crowd goes wild. That literally sent chills down my spine For the few who may have missed it,

While not a toku moment strictly, that reference was highly appreciated. But for a strictly toku moment, it'd have to be the Gavan vs Gokaigers fight. I grew up with Gavan and Kamen Rider Black. In fact, Gavan came on just before Black. So to see Gavan back in action, and not only was it the original Gavan but that he's portrayed well rather than treated like some over the hill guy who's no match for GokaiRed... it was a terrific moment in toku. It satiated nostalgia while establishing the "new" character as a strong one, rather than a joke. It was a terrific moment. |

Thanks to Tokunation for the Giveaway opportunity! This has been a great year for Tokusatsu. Despite having so many moments to choose from, my absolute favorite was the “graduation” scene from Fourze.
Even watching it now, it gives me goose bumps to see how far the Amanogawa Kamen Rider Club has come. As they recount their lessons learned throughout the year, I am brought to tears. It’s a cornucopia of feelings, however, as Gentaro’s un-henshined fight with Gamou was just plain amazing. Fourze is one of the few to make me awed and touched at the same time. To finish off this wonderful ceremony, Fourze henshins and delivers an epic Limit Break on Sagittarius. Already it is one of the best Toku scenes I’ve had the pleasure to watch, but what truly makes it my favorite, ever, is the undercurrent of forgiveness and friendship. Despite all of Gamou’s evil actions, Gentarou still proceeds to extend a hand in friendship. It was touching of the Kamen Rider Club to thank Gamou for being their principal. They held no grudge against him and the moral of the entire series has never shined brighter. We later learned that the producers wanted to create a light-hearted series to make kids smile after the 2011 disasters in Japan. The gesture was heartwarming, and the series goes on to lovingly proclaim an enduring lesson in friendship and banding together in the toughest of times. It is a much-needed lesson in this difficult world, and its beauty is seen best in this amazing, touching graduation scene. This scene represents all that is great about Fourze, Kamen Rider and Tokusatsu and thus is my favorite toku moment from 2012. Screencaps from Over-time's subs
