by KamenRiderRvenge I want to give thanks to my wonderful friends and family, for without them this project would be meaningless. Plot: Claire Ringham is a 17-year old girl, living a relatively Podunk life. At least, that's what others see. In reality she is a magical girl, 5 years strong, and has been protecting England since. However, when she is tasked to form a team, her life changes in ways she thought were simply daydreams. But things don't happen so easily... Performance 01: Claire (Great Expectations)
The gentle light of the moon touched down onto the icy pavement. Calm drops of water punctuated time ticking by. Gentle breezes moved the night along, slowly but surely. The smooth simplicity was disturbed by the sound of shoes meeting the ground. “I sense it,” whispered a voice. Soft, yet sharp, with a British accent indicating a hint of elegance. A young girl, no younger than 17, searched the silent streets. A ring on her finger pulsated with purple light, each flash getting brighter and brighter; seamlessly linked. A small orb of shifting violet light trailed behind the girl, almost uncertainly. The sound of an archaic shriek, followed by moist, bubbling sounds pierced the night’s gentle ruse. The girl took off in the direction of the sounds, her ring no longer pulsing but maintaining the glow. The violet sphere rushed to meet the young woman while trying to dodge even the smallest of hindrances. The girl was met with a gruesome image. Multicolored, maggot-like serpents hovered over and surrounded the body of what was presumably an animal. One of the barbaric creatures continued to secrete a sickly orange fluid from its mouth, creating an appalling, foaming sound. The girl was unfazed. She raised up her right hand as the glow from the ring became blinding. Her hand then glided to her left shoulder as a light poured out of the band. The light then spread out and consumed the girl. The light shattered. The woman was in a completely different outfit. She zipped up her bright purple jacket as light reflected off of her leather pants. The girl stepped forward as two golden pistols materialized in her leather-clad hands. Eyes blank but still brimming with curiosity, the loathsome creatures dragged their pitiful bodies toward the girl. A serpent's head burst as smoke trailed from the lady’s pistol. Advancing forward, each abhorrent creature raced to the girl with murderous intent. Round after round struck the beasts as the girl fired and avoided the fiend’s gaping muzzles. The savages’ numbers dwindled, each one bursting into a grisly display. As the last one met its demise, the girl stepped forward. She surveyed the damage, returning to her original outfit in a flare of light. The glowing orb appeared behind the girl, and produced a sickened groan. “How can you stand this?!” cried the sphere, becoming a bright red as she talked. Standing up, the girl turned to the globe of energy. “Its not the worse I’ve seen,” she said solemnly; her ring continuing to pulsate. Hello, I’m Claire Ringham, and I am not like other girls. Claire looked to the night sky and sighed. If you must know, I’m a magical girl, and I’m tasked with searching and destroying the Echthroi. Claire stepped inside her home and shifted her glasses. Taking off her shoes, she proceeded to go upstairs. The Echthroi are the very essence of fear taken on a corporeal form, however those monstrosities I fought tonight were...new, for lack of a better word. The warm steam from the shower began filling the air. Of course, there’s more to my story, but I’m sure you'll figure the rest out yourself. Or not. Claire collapsed onto her bed, dead tired. The spheroid fizzled until it was gone as silence returned to the night. ** ** ** ** ** Dawn broke, returning light to part of the world. Claire stretched upwards, rubbing the dusk out of her eyes. She put on her glasses and stood up, briefly basking in the sun’s light. With a truncated yawn, she quickly opened her closet and fished for her uniform. She slipped out a trench coat-like jacket along with a pleated skirt. She quickly ran into the lavatory and brushed her teeth with the ferocity of a lioness. Claire threw on her uniform and slid on her shoes before rushing downstairs. Claire’s father, Charles Wallace, was the first to greet her. “Morning, Clai-” he began, but stopped when he saw the sight Claire was making. She rummaged through the refrigerator, moving things into random places before coming across an energy drink. Claire attempted to reply, but the blue liquid was already travelling down her throat. She kissed Charles Wallace on the cheek and made her way to her mother. “Mum, do you know where I put my bookbag?” Claire said bashfully before internally smacking herself. Her mother, Deanna, made a motion to the patio, and Claire pounced on her backpack like an animal on the prowl. Standing up, she waved bye to her somewhat confused parents before taking off. Claire’s run slowed down as she speed-walked to school, constantly surveying the area. Grabbing her dim ring, Claire slid it onto her right middle finger as subtly as possible. Within a moment she was directly in front of the school, watching as other students roamed in and out. Walking quickly, Claire searched. “Hey!” yelled a girl, jumping up while waving. Claire walked over to the girl with a subdued smile. “Hi Grace!” Claire said bombastically. Grace smiled as two other girl walked up to her, one putting her arm around Grace. Claire opened her mouth in order to greet the other two young women, but a dinging sound indicated their conversation would have to wait. The girls split off, bidding each other well and promising to meet up soon. Claire made her way to her first class with a brisk pace, but was abruptly stopped when she crashed into another student. “Watch where you're going!” yelled the frustrated peer as she shoved Claire aside. The young woman slammed into a nearby wall. As she stood up she saw a furious Claire. “Dont touch me.” Claire was face to face with the school’s headmaster. ”Again, Ms. Ringham?! Thats the third time these past two weeks you’ve lashed out at someone!” screeched the middle-aged woman. “You act like I murdered her,” Claire retorted. The headmaster was appalled. “How disrespectful can you be? I’ve had enough of this blooming nonsense, I’m contacting your parents and scheduling a meeting!” the older woman cried as she quickly dialed. Claire simply rolled her eyes. ** ** ** ** ** Claire rested in her bed, the memory of the scolding she received still fresh. Sighing, she turned to see the same glowing orb from the night before. “Ixchel,” Claire said in a hushed tone,”is it time?” “Yes, but I will ask you this now,” Ixchel said seriously,” Are you prepared for this mission?” Claire pointed to a bag on the floor that was filled to the brim with items. “Have you recieved...permission?” ** ** ** ** ** “Absolutely not,” Deanna said sternly while Charles Wallace nodded in agreement. Claire was livid,“If I don't who knows what catastrophic events could take place!” “I’m sorry, but no daughter of mine is going to go off to who knows where with a target on her back!” “Alice almost did.” Ixchel’s words were like a slap in the face to Claire and her parents. Deanna’s eyes seem to quiver for a moment as Charles Wallace’s became rather liquid. Claire looked up at her parents with pleading eyes. Deanna opened her mouth to reply- ** ** ** ** ** Claire felt the breeze on her face, her hair billowing in the air. She set her ring on the ground as Ixchel overed over it. “Ready?” With a slow nod, Claire breathed slowly. Ixchel’s body glowed bright red, her magic becoming a swirling maelstrom of runes. Claire emanated a purple light, uniting with Ixchel’s in pure harmony. The mythic dance continued, lighting the podunk sky. It didn't last. Burgundy magic entered, pulverizing the peace, halting the dance. Claire fell to the ground, and looked up. What was above her was a snake charmer-esque beast, her feminine body swaying side to side. Her skin red and scaly, completely nude. Budding snake heads ruptured about her body, and embedded in her skin were hooks. Picking up her ring, Claire shot the monster a glare. “Oh bloody hell…..” Claire quickly put on her ring as Ixchel had a slight panic-attack, darting about everywhere. Claire then smirked, as purple light began to gather around her ring. ** ** ** ** ** For Our Next Performance: You've finally made it!" Wait, who are you?!" "I just want to be normal.." Performance 02: Laura (Little Women) That was a memorable day to me, for it made great changes in me. But, it is the same with any life. Imagine one selected day struck out of it, and think how different its course would have been. Pause you who read this, and think for a moment of the long chain of iron or gold, of thorns or flowers, that would never have bound you, but for the formation of the first link on one memorable day." - Charles Dickens, Great Expectations
