I noticed a few times that some people wonder why the first 10 seasons get off scot free while all critiques and nitpicks befall Disney's run.
Well let's remedy that shall we? How would YOU rewrite a Saban Era Season? |

I would kinda like a Power Rangers movie that streamlines all the plot from MMPR through to In Space, because a lot of that stuff was really cool but it was also a giant mess.
My biggest problem with most of the early stuff, is everything that should be in the foreground is in the background. We had like intergalactic wars, and aliens, and magic powers from across the galaxy and all kinds of crazy stuff but this was rarely mentioned, and regularly contradicted as those seasons brought up stuff in episodes never to be mentioned again and flitted between being a fantasy series, and a sci-fi series, without ever combining the genres or tones. But usually focusing instead on how many lifts Jason could do and other kind of inane teenage drama that somehow managed to feel constantly out of place despite being about groups of teenagers.

I would've liked to see Wild Force get a better ending.

There is no way I can honestly answer this in detail without starting a fight with some Power Ranger fanboy/girl. In general, I would have done it very differently.

I'd force MMPR to stick with one theme entirely.
We have Rita, an evil witch, forming monsters out of putty, fighting a good wizard who uses magic coins to empower our heroes, which screams fantasy. But our headquarters is a techno base, the wizard's right hand man is a robot, and our heroes regularly employ gadgets and machines (Megazord notwithstanding) to save the day, which gives off a very sci-fi vibe. It's really jarring, and it's prevalent throughout the entirety of the 3 seasons. It wasn't until Zeo that they bunkered down and moved with one theme entirely (Zordon was still a wizard, but almost everything else was sci-fi themed).

Yeah but remember Zordon was an alien wizard, which is a big reason why sci-fi made way more sense than fantasy, which is why I disliked the huge chunks of fantasy in MMPR.

I guess that is the problem when you adapt a fantasy series and just start shouting aliens.

I'd have Captain Mutiny be the main villian of Lost Galaxy with the plan of "hey look at that awesome ship! I could get a lot of space money for the resources you can ransack from it!" There would also be an offhand reference to Divatox once being part of Mutiny's crew.
Then I'd have it so Leo, Mike, Kai, Damon and Kendrix were a landing party sent to scout Mirinoi as a suitible Earth colony only to come across a temple with five swords. The party each takes a sword, with Leo and Mike sharing Red since Mike grabbed it first, and begins a quick inspection when Maya shows up looking more like Princess Mononoke than a bikini model from Conan the Barbarian. She reveals herself to be an immortal guardian of the swords and pulls the last remaining sword only to be summoned up to Terra Venture to fight off Mutiny's Swabbies. She displays the skill of Morphing and instructs the other Rangers to Morph as well. During the battle, Mike is "killed" and Leo takes over as Red. The episode where they get the Galactabeasts happens when an angry Maya uses her guardian magic to try and open a portal back to Mirinoi when Mutiny attacks and disrupts the spell sending Terra Venture and Mutiny's dino castle into "The Lost Galaxy." Mutiny retreats to try and figure out just what happened when Maya says she senses "them." She then Morphs and hijacks a small ship to head down to a nearby planet. The Rangers then chase her and come across her stopping alien poachers with giant shipping containers who attack the Rangers because "she called reinforcements" but are chased of by the Rangers in retaliation. The containers contain the Galactabeasts and the beasts join the Rangers to thank them for their rescue. The rest of the series pretty much stays the same save the last few episodes where Mutiny gets an ironic end by the very Starscreamish Trakeena, the general with a bug theme to replace Vilimax's Sentai counterpart because of the dirt bikes and pistols, as Trakeena uses an advanced mutation serum (she can do that because she's the one who made the PR version of the Balban X from Gingaman) to turn all the Swabbies into horrid bug/pirate mutants as she goes out to commandeer Terra Venture and claim it as her own for the goal of "make it my armed warbase for conquest of the universe." |

I'd have liked Scorpius to not look ridiculous. There are a lot of things I don't like about Lost Galaxy, but that's the one that sticks out as "Okay, now they aren't even trying."
