Beep bo bop beep
Another fun episode with a solid premise. The idea of leaving Vroom behind made sense, but I feel for him. Poor guy. It was nice to see Zox being so willing to help Kaito without being a prick about it. Guess the guy really is a sucker for family. Stacey is also a softie at heart, being willing to let Kaito's "Mom" go, although he did have to begrudgingly summon Black ZyuraGaon. I gotta say though, and this will probably piss off a Fish, but this episode did make me realize I really don't like Magine's verbal tick. Not only does she utter "Muu Muu Muu Magine" whenever she does anything, but she's also muttering "Mu Mu Mu" in most of her sentences as well. It's really kind of annoying.

A parallel world is not the same if a version of Suu-san does not exist.

Is this really the only episode where nobody uses any auxiliary Gears?!
Looks like Zenkaiger finding Mitsuko is left open-ended for now, but at least they got Tozitendo off her scent. She might find her own way home eventually. Quote:

Hey, the Zenkaigers only voyaged through four of those seven worlds!
Also for how much of a menace it was last week, Black ZyuraGaon went down way too quick in my opinion! I mean it was neat that Zenkaiju-Oh had to play a bit smart instead of just brute forcing it, but maybe that back and forth before hand could have been just a liiiittle longer or more tense. |

I adore that Kaito immediately thought to ask for Magine's help picking a place to look for his mom. Like, I don't even think he believed that would work, I'm pretty sure he was just being a good friend there, and wanted to give her a chance to do her thing. And of course, I am very obviously going to be in favor of any chance Magine gets to be in the spotlight. She's great in this one, too! I'm super glad Magine got to go on the big world-hopping adventure with everyone instead of staying at home, and I bet everyone is glad too, because she even ends up playing a massive part in resolving the conflict here, saving a good couple dozen worlds in the process! Plus, you know, the bit where she's so obsessively focused on her fortune telling that she doesn't even leave the ship when it makes its first stop is hilarious. For some reason, I just find it super endearing seeing someone with that level of passion for such a particular interest. ...Now what was I here to talk about again? Oh, yeah, I mean, there was a whole episode of Zenkaiger, too, which was also pretty cool. In all seriousness, this is another good one. It's got an absolutely golden premise right off the bat, which is "hey, so what the heck do worlds themed around random concepts actually look like, anyway?" It's been nothing more than a simple plot device to give the monsters their themes while also implying the scope of the bad guys' evil schemes, but finally, we get a clear answer to that question. The answer apparently being "like our world, but themed around a random concept." Good thing Vroom didn't come along, lest he have to grapple with a revelation that crazy! Okay, I'm kidding around again; this was quite fun. Everything is handled in an appropriately Zenkaiger kinda way here. It's a silly show doing a silly episode about one of its silly gimmicks, and the elaboration it does on that gimmick is also silly. It's even budget-conscious, as well, because they just meet the same one guy a bunch of times and that's your entire look into each world's culture. Cultures that for all we know could have their own deep and interesting histories, but that's *so* not what Zenkaiger cares about. No, Zenkaiger cares about doing fun silly things with its goofy cast, and being way smarter than you'd expect about it, both of which this episode nails. I mentioned up top how Kaito goes out of his way to indulge Magine, which is sort of impressive when you'd think he'd be completely focused on getting his mom back, and that's sort of the whole core of why this one turned out great? It's a perfect display of Kaito's bottomless optimism, and I love how the true point of the premise ends up being "look at all the good the Zenkaigers have done over the past six months." All these absurd worlds are only getting along fine now because these five unlikely heroes and their pirate friend have been sticking it to the forces of evil for so long, and it was sweet of Kaito to stop and take some joy in that, even with so much else that has to be on his mind. It pays off in the climax, too, where actually finding his mom gets put on hold in favor of protecting the worlds all over again. It's just a nice episode, you know? Zox is getting along with everyone... heck, even Stacey is sneakily trying to help out Yatsude the whole time! Just a whole lot of full power kindness here, and I dig it!

Ah, so that's what kind of world Tachikawa Mochitopia is like...
I absolutely love how they executed those parallel worlds (which is fitting if there's some version of Su-san in each one), and giving an insight to what kind of society and daily lives they have. Sure, we were promised seven worlds to which they traverse, but seeing them is still good in my book. I can't stress how much I adore the Tojitendo, especially after the way they communicate with each other. (Beep boop bop beep boop) Just a bunch of fun villains with goofy quirks befitting a Sentai show. Stacey's mechs just get wrecked every other episode they debut, huh? Still hoping Battle Caesar Robo returns. Really enjoyed the snow fight, just something different from the usual cityscapes or mountain locations. And of course, The Zenkaiger Theater Troupe's second big show was enjoyable. They worked around the whole "save every world" thing in one simple trick, which was nice. Wonder just what kind of World Kaito's mom ended up in. Next Week: "Yes! Thank Gokai, they're adapting the Manga, which is the superior work." -Some snob with a fake pipe and cheap robe |
