I am currently facing chronic senioritis, being completely incapable of motivating myself to finish college assignments and to study.
How do you guys motivate yourselves, in any tedious work that you do?

Hahahaha >_<. A lot of times I just end up not doing it. Or turning it in late. Some days I will be motivated for almost no reason. "Ok, today I'm going to do this." And then I do it. I usually break stuff up into very small sections and do it throughout the day. Unless it's an essay or something where it's better to do all at once.
One thing I sort of do but not really is if there's an item I'm on the fence about buying, I'll "reward" myself with it after I've done the work. Given the item isn't too expensive.

Tell yourself this... Finish school, get a career, make tons of money, never worry about not being able to afford certain toys again.

Get everything you need, so for an essay any books/resources you might have to reference or use, nice and early (around a week to three days before the deadline) and have a little flick through each, maybe underlining or marking pages that might help. Then wait until the night before the deadline and let the pressure from the impending deadline motivate you. This is the only way I can get uni stuff done otherwise I just procrastinate =p
It helps if you have a gameplan too like sentai tamashii said. I'm personally hoping to become a teacher after uni and I have a small set of goals that I want to achieve in life, as cheesy as it sounds this really helps me focus =] Other then that, slap some tunes on, don't get too stressed and just try and do your best |

give yourself frequent small breaks. if you're old enough to imbibe, drink alcohol lol. start a project early, and do a little work at a time, i.e. don't procrastinate; however, if you do, make sure you stay in contact with your professors and let them know whats up. they can be more understanding than you may anticipate. just try and stay positive and don't allow yourself to get stressed
us students need to stick together and keep each other motivated. keep working hard, the semester is almost over! |

Good advice everyone, and I can relate. When bursts of motivation come about I get SO MUCH done. Otherwise, I'm just lazy.
I find that it is better to spend the "lazy periods" doing something else like gaming or watching Toku because at least I'm not staring at my research paper trying to decipher it for hours.
