Striping evil!
This thread is for the appreciation of the greatest tokusatsu hero of them all - Zebraman! This is also an appropriate place to talk about ZebraNurse. Black & White Ecstasy! For those unaware of the cosplaying teacher turned ultimate hero, reviews will follow. Now I leave you with Zebraman's best catchphrase - http://www.engrish.com//wp-content/u...an-hard-on.jpg |

YES! I was planning to make a Zebraman thread myself. Anyone seen the second movie yet? It was just released in the States about a month ago by Funimation. I loved it. Some people I showed it to even claimed that it changed their lives.

YES! That is the only question one can put forth after seeing this film. My only answer is that you just bore witness to pure and utter Fantastipo Awesomeness.

Saw the sequel last weekend, Zebraman 2: Attack on Zebra City
Like so many sequels, it's ok as a followup, but not strong enough on it's own terms. Much of the quirkiness and likeability of the original film is gone. I think that owes largely to the many scenes devoted to Zebra Queen. She's sexy, but no comedienne. However, parts of her songs stayed with me the next day, even though I know no Japanese. Zebraman was great still. The idea of the actual Zebraman watching a television show based on his exploits was pretty meta. The movie explored a lot of yin/yang duality between Zebraman and Zebrawoman / Zebra Queen. However, very little of what was explored said anything new. Mostly, it reminded me of the Star Trek episode where the transporter separates Capt. Kirk into a weak good component and a strong, ruthless evil component. |
