26: Smoky's origins tie very well with the family motif of the show, can't say I expected Wolzard to willingly give his power to Meemy. I'm really interested to see how that plays out.
All in all I think it's my favorite Urara episode so far, but that joke at the end wasn't necessary. |

Wolzard's just that much of a badass. And he realizes that he's still powerful without the magic. AND that he can take it back at any time he pleases, as we will see later.

Anyways, I thought it was a smart move for Meemy. |

Episode episode-sama 26 de gozarimasu desu
Well, the monster this week definitely gave the team a big adventure. Yep, this was no trip to a playhouse. Something something public masturbation. I liked this one. The stuff with Smoky was actually pretty good and even a little moving (at least until they ruined it at the end for a cheap groping joke). I could swear I've seen another tokusatsu do this exact plot with the food turning into sand thing, though. Maybe Kakuranger? I don't know. It wasn't a huge part of the story here, but I know it's been done before (or possibly since). Anyway, next episode looks like another Makito focus, so I guess I'll just be skipping to the action scenes again. |

27: A Makito episode... but turns out this time everybody hates him, like in real life.
I liked it because for the first time, Makito wasn't part of the problem, when he had the episodes with Kai and Houka his intransigency was the cause of the problem, when the Urara episode came, he was the one to lose the money bag, and in the mammoth episode his insecurity caused the problems. It was a nice change of peace. The story was fun if a little simple, and the new enemies seem interesting. |

Actually didn't fastforward through that one as much as I expected to. It was a pretty cool display of how the team's familial bonds work, although knowing that part of the show's goal was to convince kids to beg their parents for siblings, it got a little too on-the-nose for me near the end. If I didn't know that this show came first, I would totally swear that the new monster group is just ripping off Gekiranger and that four-monster group from its early run. |
