Oh yeah so Shin Ultraman is pretty cool.
I wouldn't say it's a groundbreaking movie, but it is fun to see Anno just make an Ultraman Movie since that's something he loves. It's very straightforward but genuine in it's love for Ultraman and really that's all it needs to be? It does feel odd in how they grabbed a bunch of episodes to put them together but the more I think on it, the more it sort of fits together. Mostly in the pacing aspect since this film likes to go really fast at certain points, both in how long a certain arc lasts and also the speed of the dialogue being presented. I'll definitely want to rewatch it whenever it shows up in better quality. Also one of the main character's just had a Kyubey mug and I sure wasn't expecting that. |

Who finalized the name of the defense force/investigation team in Ultraman OG? The official subs opt for SSSP, or "Science Special Search Party". Other translations include "Science Special Investigation Corps".
https://m-78.jp/character/sssp/ P.S.: Decidedly odd how the initials pair with Super Sentai. Even odder that they echo (though I imagine this was unintentional) something that's more terrifying on a historical level. In Japanese the Kanji writing for the team is 科学特別捜査隊 "Kagaku tokubetsu sosa-tai" which literally translates to "Science Special Search Party" or in some translations "Science Special Investigation Team" which is usually abbreviated to 科学特捜隊 "Kagaku tokuso-tai" which translates to "Science Team" or more commonly "Science Patrol" Last edited by SHINOBI03; 10-06-2022 at 10:22 AM.. |

Ichika freaked out is kind of adorable.
Kanata actually came up with an excuse for his deck holder! Of course, it doesn't hold up when he doesn't actually have bandages... Kind of a bit of a Halloween episode vibe with things going dark and the Marluru scare moment. Only Marluru could go from genuine positive compliments to the most scathing criticisms...except for Hanejiro, whom he feels solidarity with as a fellow mascot character. It's funny because the main trio all agreed with the criticisms that weren't theirs. Cyborg Ryumon, living bomb, Ichika, and zombie without a plan Kanata... Well, yeah, Kanata is enough like Kengo that it's reasonable to assume history would repeat itself as far as Ultra Hosts go. Granted, Kanata didn't help by immediately and casually admitting it...poor Hanejiro. All that effort to cover for him for nothing. What does "Decker" mean? I mean, he has a deck of cards... Kanata really not helping his case about not being an idiot when he forgets his own transformation device. Ah, Ryumon really showing how much he cares about Kanata there! Well, him and Ichika both, but it's nice to see. Did Murahoshi imply he knows Kanata is Decker? I kind of got that vibe... What a perfect punchline to end the episode on! Classic Marluru. Next: Noiseler! The return of Spheresaurus! Sabotage!? New Gen Deathfacer is born! |

Interestingly enough, the eyes are more in line with the Original Ultraman, which is curious and at the same time a neat detail.
On to Decker... For a recap episode, it was full of development and great moments. Honestly missed Marluru, so this was a fun episode. Love how Kanata justifies the card holder as a band-aid case (or I just forgot because I'm stupid). And next episode, we get Spheresaurus again!

So guys. I thought of asking this here as a lot of yall are veteran ultraman fans. I wanted to ask what are the best ultraman series in your opinion story wise. I only ask this as there is currently a sale on ultraman blurays, but idk where to start. Out of the ones millcreek released ive only seen Geed, Zeros stuff, and Gridman. I really liked Geed and Gridman, Zero was a bit lacking story wise.
Just would like some help with any good showa or heisei ultra. Sort of thinking of mebius, seven, og ultraman, dyna, tiga, and gaia. But hardly know anything if they are strong story wise. Any recommends would be appreciated. |
